Within this course you look at what Torchon Lace is, notable for being coarse and strong, as well as its simple geometric patterns and straight lines. This is historically used as edgings or insertions. Torchon Bobbin Lace is multiple thread craft, and often continuations – like macrame, so if you enjoyed macrame and want to try something similar, try this short course. Over the course you will learn the grounds used in Torchon lace, how patterns are formed and how elements can be used in patterns. You will make samples which can be bookmarks or jewellery items (please discuss with tutor prior to course if you have a specific goal). This course is suitable for all. This course will concentrate on Torchon Bobbin Lace, which can be suitable for those with no previous knowledge but if you have previous knowledge then the tutor will develop an individual plan that meets your aims to develop your lacemaking skills within this style of Bobbin Lace. Join us on this practical course. The morning will be spent planning the walk. After lunch, using the prepared route card the group will complete a 4-5 mile walk. This is a great opportunity to develop your map reading skills by: - Using grid references help you plan the route - Reading contours and relief to interpret the landscape - Taking and walking on a bearing using a compass - Planning a walk using a route card - Completing a 5 mile walk This course is ideal for anyone who has attended the Inspire Map Reading Made Easy course or has some experience of map reading and wants to use their skills to plan and complete a walk. Get ready for another captivating evening with Iditarod racer Matthew Failor, coming back to his hometown to share his incredible journey and experiences racing through the Iditarod . The event will begin with a conversation between Carl Hunnell, the author of all our Iditarod coverage this year, and Failor, who lives in Willow, Alaska, with his wife, Liz, and son, Theo. Part of that chat will give Failor, who earned a degree in fine arts photography from The Ohio State University , the opportunity to show videos and photos of his efforts in the Iditarod and also from his Alaskan Husky Adventures business. The remainder of the evening will be a question-and-answer session that will allow those in attendance to pose their own queries to the 14-time Iditarod participant. Enjoy an intimate evening of psychic and medium messages and light refreshments with Endorsed Psychic and Afterlife Medium Lauren Robbins, who has been seen on television on Married at First Sight, The List TV Shows, and more. A maximum of 20 guests are allowed in this very intimate and special event. Most people, if not all, will receive a psychic or medium message if a spirit comes through as Lauren walks around the room and each section to prove that the other side and the afterlife exist. You will laugh, cry, and leave feeling healed, knowing your spirit and loved ones are with you. Tickets priced at $89.00 per person for early bird tickets or $99.00 regularly priced per person are non-refundable or non-transferable to another event. A friend or family member can check in with your name if you cannot attend due to an illness or emergency. The age restriction is 18 years old. Doors open @6:30 pm for check-in and seating. The event begins at 7:00 pm and will run approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the number of attendees.
