International Women's Mountain Bike Day is recognized on the first Saturday in May, it is a day dedicated to women enjoying mountain biking with each other and encouraging fellow women to join them. Piedmont Fat Tire Society and Piedmont Lady Shredders are hosting an event on Saturday, May 17, 2025 to celebrate this day. This event is open to all Lady mtb'ers or any lady wishing to try the sport!!! This will be our seventh annual celebration. For the past six years over 50 ladies have joined us for skills clinics and group rides. This year we are doing it again and offering skills for all levels, bike related clinics, group rides, games, lunch, prizes and more! We will have Greensboro Mountain Bike Experience at the event which will allow us to have mountain bikes available for use, so bring a friend and share the love of the sport! You will need to register for the event before you can reserve a bicycle. If you would like to reserve a bicycle please email a copy of your registration confirmation to Lauren.Elledge@greensboro-nc.gov. You must register for the event before you can reserve a bicycle. . We are committed to keeping this event free for all women who would like to participate, but we will require registration. We will limit the event to 60 women so please register early. We will have a wait list so if you cannot come, please let us know so we can open spots up to those on the waiting list. Registration is required so we can make sure we have enough coaches, ride leaders and food. NEW THIS YEAR: We will have plenty of experienced mountian bike ladies at the event to work in small groups and help you over come any fears and advance your skills. We will use the new skills park at Lake Higgins and we will have a few other props for you to practice on. Signing up for any specific instructors will be held onsite. We will keep groups small, but you will be able to move through the skills clinics at your own pace. We welcome anyone wishing to try the sport. If you have no bike, no problem, we will have loaner bikes available. After the skills work we will ride Bald Eagle Trail. This is a begginer trail. It is an out and back so you can go as far as you want, turn and come back. Mountain biking is an excellent form of exercise, connecting with nature, expoloring your local community and a way to build confidence and make many supportive friends. P lease sign the waiver beforehand. https://waiver.fr/p-gvjnt Schedule: 9:30-10:00 am- check in 10:00- 11:30 clinics 11:00 -12:30 Group Rides 12:00-1: 30 Lunch, Trivia and Games We will offer small group clinics between 10:00-11:30.
