Jane
is a pilot with Harwich Haven Authority and has spent her entire life in the nautical industry. Starting out as a deck officer at just 16, she went on to build a career that has taken her all over the world. Now based in Woodbridge, she is active member of the Deben Yacht Club and keen gamer.

for her first-person account of a lifelong maritime career, some accounts of early challenges and adventures at sea, and progression to becoming pilot with Harwich Haven Authority.
Some topics include:
life at sea, gender perceptions, memorable incidents, and the evolving skills, technology, and teamwork required to safely handle ships from small coasters to the largest container vessels.
Jane's talk will begin at 7:30pm, with wine, soft drinks and nibbles available from 7pm - the evening is free to members, £5 to non-members.
