The "open to the elements" breakfast From intimate weddings on the bandstand to large scale events like Pride, Brighton excels at putting on an outdoor spectacle. Ian Baird , Outdoor Events Manager at Brighton & Hove City Council , is responsible for any events in the city that “don’t have a roof”. His team handles 175+ events and 400 filming licences a year, as well as civic events like Remembrance Sunday and commercial activities in parks and on the seafront. It’s a role where risk and safety, responsibility and audience perception have to be weighed up at every turn. And it’s a job which sees Ian working alongside many Brighton businesses to deliver events that excite locals and visitors alike. So what is it like to be the man behind the scenes, and what takeaways can you apply to your own business? At our May breakfast, interviewed by Brighton Chamber’s Sarah Springford, Ian will talk about 25 years’ experience, and his intention to bring bespoke events to the city that are fun, sustainable and socially beneficial. About this event The Chamber’s monthly Breakfast at Bill’s is very popular, so you’ll need to book early. 50 to 80 business people from Brighton and the surrounding areas come together to meet, eat and network on the fourth Friday of each month*. There is a wide range of people who attend from all sectors and all sizes. From sole traders and start-ups to some of the biggest businesses in the city. Avocado on sourdough - Harrisa and lemon dressed cherry tomatoes, coriander and lime, on sourdough with avocado and spinach mix (vegan. gluten-free available). Berry pancakes - A stack of buttermilk pancakes served with syrup, berries and whipped vanilla cream (vegan and gluten-free available). Granola - Fresh fruit, dried cranberries, cinnamon, syrup, yoghurt and granola (vegan and gluten-free). Eggs florentine - Poached free-range eggs, wilted spinach and hollandaise served on a toasted muffin (gluten-free available). There is also tea, coffee and water available throughout the event. *Chamber Breakfasts are held on the fourth Friday of each month, except in August and December when they are slightly earlier. FAQs What's the refund policy? Tickets are refundable up to 4 days before the event start time. After this deadline, tickets are non-refundable; however, they may be transferred to another person for the same event or to another event of the same value. Some queens don't need an introduction and have been masters of their craft before there was a race to do drag! We call them ICONS... Drag Bus has become a staple part of the drag landscape across the UK, but as we're growing we're also looking back at what made us fall in love with drag in the first place! This series of buses is intended to honour and celebrate the people who have defined drag performance in the UK. Drag isn't about sticking on a wig and proclaiming an arrival, its about artistry, creativity and skill. The drag artistes in this series quite simply need no introduction. Kevin, Drag Bus owner loves the history behind drag, and was hooked from the first show he saw at The Black Cap in Camden over 30 years ago.....a certain Dave Lynn who he adores to this day and who's part of the Drag Bus family. He's personally put together this series of events to celebrate what he classes as "the greatest living examples of the greatest art-form I know". Getting this series of events together was a labour of love for him. Join our two-hour sightseeing trip where you'll be guided across the city by your fabulous drag queen icon Pooh La May. The ticket includes your two-hour sightseeing tour, all the fun and games you’d expect from a fabulous drag icon plus some memorable songs and performances, and a welcome glass of prosecco. We're taking over Brighton seafront from 09:00 - 12:00 on Sunday 24th May for a special edition PistonHeads Sunday Service. What’s On? Get ready for an all-new PistonHeads event for 2026! On The Beach is the official warm-up to the PistonHeads Annual Service . Expect a spectacular lineup that showcases exactly what PistonHeads is all about - featuring everything from classic, modified, and performance cars to jaw-dropping supercars. We’ll also be joined by exhibitors from the upcoming 2026 PistonHeads Annual Service . Tickets and Parking Display Car Tickets: If you wish to park and display your vehicle at the event, you must have a Display Car ticket (£10.00+ eventbrite fees) . Spectators: The event is free to attend on foot and open to the public! Passengers arriving in a ticketed display car also do not require their own ticket. Public Parking: A road closure will be in effect throughout the morning. On-site parking is strictly reserved for ticketed display vehicles only. If you are arriving by car to spectate but do not have a Display Car ticket, please use local public parking. Display Cars & Arrival Information If you have a ticket to display your car, please read the following carefully to ensure a smooth arrival: Valid Ticket Required: You must have your Display Car ticket (either printed or ready on the Eventbrite app) with your vehicle. Our security team will scan all tickets upon entry. If you do not have a ticket, you will be turned away. Arrival Times: Please do not arrive before 08:45 .
