DISRUPT: Think of it as a one-night festival filled with live music, entertainment and art all curated and created by young people who have experienced homelessness. Hosted by the Foyer Foundation at the incredible Machine Hall and designed in collaboration with a committee of Foyer Residents, Students and Coaches, the festival will kick off the 2025 Foyer Advantage and is set to be an unforgettable, fun night. Whether you’re a Foyer resident, a current or prospective operator, advocate, policymaker, philanthropist, or investor, join us for a night of bold, vivid and powerful art in all its forms created by young people in the Foyer community. Why DISRUPT? Stories have so much power. Our societies, our systems and our lives are all shaped by stories. They have the potential to shift hearts and minds. We tell stories to each other, about each other, about who is right, about who is wrong - who deserves our trust, who we should support and who the winners are. Stories about young people experiencing homelessness rarely ever quote a young person. Even when they do, the story is about what bad choices or bad behaviour led to being homeless, or the trauma of their experiences - ignoring the complex reasons behind homelessness, and the multiple ways in which our society and systems have let them down. We’re looking to DISRUPT these stories - to empower and humanise, celebrate and share the experience, voices and creativity that young people have. When we focus on the good in people, on their strengths and aspirations they have a much better chance of being motivated, confident, healthy, and connected. From the canvas to the stage, DISRUPT is a call to action, an invitation to be part of changing the way that we see, hear, talk about and with young people experiencing homelessness. DISRUPT will be held at the incredible Machine Hall in Sydney.
