Join the panel discussion "From Drawings to Sculpture: The Harlem Renaissance to Now" at The National Arts Club in New York City on February 3, 2024. This event explores the evolution of artistic practice and perspective from the early 20th-century to today. Early 20th-century Black artists focused on portraying portraits of people and daily life as they experienced it. Challenging false narratives, these artists sought to showcase their humanity and paved the way for modern art in America to include new voices and themes of social justice, even incorporating futuristic elements.

Curator Denise Murrell, the Merryl H. and James S. Tisch Curator at Large of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, will lead a dynamic conversation highlighting the significance of the Harlem Renaissance. Contemporary artists Sanford Biggers, Tschabalala Self, and Coby Kennedy will discuss how their expanding perspectives engage new and existing collectors, as well as public interest and support. The panel will be moderated by Savona Bailey-McClain, the Executive Director and Chief Curator of the West Harlem Art Fund.

A must-visit spot in NYC! Rockefeller Center is not just iconic&mdash;it&rsquo;s also incredibly functional. Walking through the building is a great experience, with beautiful architecture, vibrant public spaces, and plenty of food options in and around the concourse. One of the best features is the subway station right in the lower level, making it super easy to get to. And of course, it&rsquo;s home to my favorite observation deck in the city&mdash;Top of the Rock. The views are unbeatable!
