An Afrofuturist exploration of climate change, land rights and the strength of West Africa’s Ashanti people, who originate from present-day Ghana.
Multidisciplinary artist and musician Serwah Attafuah weaves past, present and future into an Afrofuturist vision of resilience and reclamation in The Darkness Between the Stars. Across five screens, female warriors rise from burning slave castles and shipwrecked colonial vessels, their glitch-patterned kente cloth celebrating Ghana’s matrilineal traditions. These avatars honour Yaa Asantewaa, the Queen Mother who led the Ashanti uprising against British forces in 1900, and embody a defiant march towards liberation.
Gold – sacred to Ghanaians as a bridge between ancestors, the living and future generations – anchors this work. Once exploited by colonisers who dubbed Ghana the ‘Gold Coast’, today 98% of Ghana’s gold remains controlled by global corporations. Attafuah’s frames, crafted from repurposed e-waste and painted gold, reference this legacy while pointing to Agbogbloshie, Accra’s infamous e-waste dump.

The Melbourne Observation Deck is really good and worth visiting! Take the elevator to the 88th floor directly, only a few tens of seconds. Standing on the observation deck at an altitude of 300 meters, there is no dead angle in 360 degrees overlooking Melbourne, with a panoramic view of the city and the Yarra River. The Edge glass cube experience is super exciting, as if suspended in the air. The daytime, sunset and night scenes have their own advantages, which is worth a visit.

The Melbourne Museum is amazing! The building is modern and interesting, with the classical Royal Exhibition Hall. The exhibitions are rich and varied, from the huge blue whale skeleton, dinosaur fossils, to exquisite minerals, Aboriginal cultural exhibits, etc. The interactive experience is also great, and children can learn in fun. If you are tired, you can watch IMAX movies, which is definitely worth the fare.

SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium

The Melbourne Aquarium is super suitable for parent-child play and ocean lovers! There are more than 20 themed exhibition areas in the museum, where you can see giant manta rays and leopard sharks swimming in transparent tunnels at close range. The small blue penguins on Penguin Island are swaying and super cute, and the touch pool can touch starfish and sea cucumbers. The most shocking is the &quot;Deep Sea World&quot; exhibition area, surrounded by fish in a huge cylindrical water tank, as if you are on the bottom of the sea. There are also interactive screens and science explanations in the museum. You can see the strangeness and knowledge when you play a circle. In the evening, you can watch the lights on the outside wall of the aquarium on the pierside. It is also very romantic.

Lovely place to walk past on the way to the Melbourne museum. This time of the year, there&rsquo;s autumn leaves covering the walkways. There is even a small pond with some ducks in the corner. And right in front of the royal exhibition hall, there is a fountain where sometimes you will catch couples taking their wedding photos here.
