The location is very good, right in the center of the ancient city. The decoration of the hotel is blue and white porcelain style, giving people a sense of tranquility. There are three choices for breakfast. The price is absolutely good value for money!

I booked this hotel for a friend for one night and the room was good and quite large. However, the food quality was really disappointing. The food served was of very low quality and tasted terrible. It was a let down, especially since the room was otherwise quite nice. While this is a decent place to stay for the room quality, I would strongly recommend against purchasing any food on-site. The food was so bad that it overshadowed the positive aspects of the hotel stay. The hotel management should look into improving the quality of the food offerings to provide a more well-rounded guest experience. Until the food issues are addressed, I would advise travelers to avoid dining at this hotel and to seek out other dining options nearby instead.

Loved this place, it has a lot of personality. There are nicer but more expensive places in Galle, and there are cheaper and more run down places. This is the Goldilocks choice. It's a lovely little hotel with a few broken things in every room. In the hot off season, the shared areas are like sitting in a sauna, but there's a little garden pool to cool off in. The perfect walking distance to the fort, short eats, and every morning a different Sri Lankan breakfast. Proper tea service, small but attentive staff. The manager is so helpful, I was here for three things, touring Galle, a unique part of Sri Lanka, locating and visiting some locations where my late father grew up and went to college, and a bit of a religious pilgrimage. The manager, who speaks 5 languages, was ever so helpful in all three aspects of my visit. Up the hill are two more elegant hotels for dinner, down the hill are some really cheap local places to eat, don't miss lunch at the Ministry of Agriculture/ ministry of education canteen. Okay for an overnight, but I would recommend this one of a kind hotel for a few days stay. Especially in the off-season.

Superb Service Rate. Asanga bends over backwards for you, the food is excellent, very well cooked. We were all alone but they still took great care of us. Beachside hotels better watch out because you are going to pay for the sea while this place is located 850 meters from the sea and costs 186 LKR by tuk tuk. Spacious and bright room. The swimming pool is good and very clean. Don't hesitate for this hotel really.

Hikkaduwa Beach Hotel is located at one of the best spots on the Hikkaduwa Beach. The view from our premier ocean suite room was breathtaking. Their newly renovated rooms were very spacious, minimalistic and tastefully done. Few minor issues were there which were immediately taken note of by Mr. Robert and looked into on priority. Staff were very courteous and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Special mention to Mr. Sivashan who took care of our every need right from booking, to airport transfers, meal options, local guidance, ensuring the pool renovation was done speedily and arranging a day tour to the Sinharaja Rain Forest, thank you@Sivashan for all your help 🙏🏽. Their food was delicious with a good variety of dishes from Western and local cuisines. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel as it ticks all the boxes for us - location, scenery, comfort, good food, service and total value for money.

Magnificent mini-hotel. One of the best on the island. Very friendly staff, small number of rooms. Although it's a la carte, the breakfast is very tasty and varied. Infinity pool with magnificent views. Nearby is one of the best beaches on the island without waves - Jungle beach. I highly recommend choosing this place. By the way, I advise anyone who gets a view of the garden not to be upset - the sea can also be seen from there. Overall, a wonderful boutique hotel.

Great hotel with a beautiful garden and fantastic access to the sea. The beach was very quiet and offered great space to switch off. The staff were very courteous and professional - thanks again to Nathas and Sanju! The pizza that you can get in the in-house pizzeria is world class :) Highly recommended.

The standard of this hotel and it's rooms, is exceptional! Definetly 10 out of 10 for mine ,as l have stayed in 100,s of hotels around the world over the past 30 years,( except for Covid) it;s not beach front ,but it is only a short scenic walk to a great beach area any way! The staff where very friendly and helpful in advice on where to visit etc. Would certainly stay again ,and l recomend this hotel to any one wishing to stay in this area.

The first best quality I saw in the hotel was maintained very good customer service. They are ready to listen to the customer very well and fulfill the need quickly. The hotel has beautiful access .The view is such a amazing🔥... I just had an nice massage on there Ayurvedic spa which I would recommend everyone who visit here. The room are very clean and Luxury I just love it. I attended an event here and the food and drinks were very good and the atmosphere was very good. It is equipped with a hall with good space. This is good place where you plan to a company get together and all. Talking about food, you can get different varieties of food here. And it's taste amazing.. Overall, I can say that I got a very good experience. A hotel worth visiting.🙌

The hotel is on Hikkaduwa Beach, about 20 kilometers from the ancient city of Galle. The scenery is incomparable, the swimming pool is beautiful, the rooms on the second floor are almost facing the sea, and the first floor is facing the pool ... the gym equipment is a bit behind ... the breakfast is good, the local meals are mainly ... Dinner buffet at 2,000 rupees per person ... the staff are welcoming ... the surrounding facilities are convenient and the fishery is spectacular, a ten minute walk from the Hikkaduwa bus station train station ... it is very convenient to go to Galle and Colombo ... the most important thing is that the domestic uncles and aunts are very Less ... highly recommended!

South lake resort is one best resort in southern part of sri lanka, i been spend one night with my family, absolutely brilliant holyday i had, the pool view room are atmosphere are awesome, for the breakfast and dinner i had in main restaurant, the staff are friendly and always smiling face, make as so cool, all of them i would like to mention the staff given as brilliant service and look after every thing what's we want, thank you so much and will visit again while visiting sri lanka!

Awesome hotel, very comfortable stay, beautiful seaside views and easy access to whale watching and diving facilities. The staff were so friendly. A special shout out to Nuwan, who made very tasty cocktails and their resident chef whose cooking was incredible. They went to a lot of effort to cater for my allergies. Their Sri Lankan menu is divine and would fully recommend to any tourists wanting to try authentic Sri lankan cuisine. They also look after a couple of dogs, with great care and kindness.

We just arrived today and completely blown away by the hospitality of the staff. Lovely clean comfortable rooms with AC . Amazing chill area and sun loungers. The beach is perfect lovely reefs with no rubbish like most other beaches I've been on this month trip . This is by far the best hotel I have visited and the price is the most reasonable for what your getting . Be aware tuktuk are hard to get on uber but staff are happy to help and you will pay rough 500 sri lankan rupees each way to fish poit main beach . But this is by far the best beach . The beach is private but you will see local boys surfing and fishing which adds to the experience.

We loved our stay at this hotel, which welcomed us very well. The hotel is very well located, close to restaurants and beaches. We rented motorbikes from a shop on the same street and toured the entire south of the island. The pool is very pleasant, the breakfast is also as it has everything you need to start the day off right. Fruit, bread, pancakes, a chef cooking all types of eggs, natural juices, coffee, cakes, etc. The best thing about the hotel is all the staff. They are very friendly young people, who work very well, who help us with everything, very sweet and very helpful. Whatever you need, they always run to help you with a smile on their faces. I ask everyone to read my review and book this hotel to be kind to these young people. I especially want to thank Chef San Jee who treated us very well. For 4 nights we arrived late at the hotel, and he managed to cook our dinner for 10 people. We loved Chef San Jee's food. The Kothu Rotti cooked by him is divine. Another interesting detail is that there are peacocks and we get used to their presence.

From the moment we stepped in, the hotel impressed us with its spacious, well-appointed rooms that were clean and comfortable. The heart of Somerset Blue, however, lies in its staff. The team, especially those at the restaurant and front office, were not just professional but genuinely caring and attentive. Their warmth and helpfulness added a personal touch to our experience, making us feel truly valued and cared for. While the food was satisfactory, what stood out was the level of attentiveness with which it was served. Each meal was a pleasant experience, not just for the flavors but also for the service that accompanied it. Our stay was comfortable in every aspect. The hotel's location is conveniently situated, making it easy to explore the surroundings. The amenities provided were more than sufficient, catering to all our needs and ensuring a hassle-free stay. Additionally, considering the quality, the food was well-priced, adding to the overall value of our stay.

It is very close to the beach and you will cross the road. The room is clean and spacious, and the bathroom facilities are convenient and practical. There is a swimming pool in the hotel yard, it is very good to sunbathe and swim. Need to be reminded that all hotels, including the five-star hotels that later lived in Colombo, do not provide toothbrushes, toothpaste, and slippers, so you need to prepare yourself. In the room view, it is very convenient to go swimming, surfing and walking at the beach. It’s great to climb the rocks in the evening to watch the sunset, watch the waves, watch the sorghum fisherman fishing, and watch the surf! It’s three in the morning and six in one day. It’s all packed up for breakfast. It’s not like having a hotel in China that can’t catch up with breakfast, no matter what. At dinner, because a student group in the United States had more guests and more requests, and delayed giving us a dish, I especially expressed my regret and gave it to the local refrigerator. When paying, there are indeed problems with other friends saying that the credit card machine is slow, can't brush the US dollar, can only be converted automatically after the payment of the rupee, if the cash is enough I think they are willing to settle in US dollars, you know. In July 2024, I spent several days in this hotel. In general, I liked everything, except for some moments. I'll start with the good: excellent location, opposite a supermarket, and nearby there are many shops and benches, a gorgeous view from the window of the ocean, decent breakfasts, a clean pool, the staff's willingness to help at any time, delicious dishes to order from the menu, well-groomed territory. What I didn’t like: the rooms are already tired, they need updating, I lived in room 513. The pool is open until 19.00, which is not at all convenient, because after dinner you also want activity... but there is none)

Breakfast has toast, fried egg, fruit, yogurt, tea, coffee, family suite is very large, the entrance is a small swimming pool, the location is somewhat biased, inside the alley, there is a place to park. No toiletries, the decoration time is a bit long, the bathroom facilities are a bit old

We stayed for 2 nights in rooms 210 and 212 from December 26 to 28, and it was a complete waste of money. Recycled Food in Buffet: The dinner buffet had the same items as the next day’s breakfast and dinner. It felt like leftover food was being reused across multiple meals, which is completely unacceptable. Uncleaned Mugs and Cups: The mugs and cups in the rooms were dirty and not properly cleaned, raising hygiene concerns. Dirty Pillows and Towels: Pillows and towels had stains, and even the replacements provided were visibly dirty, with patches and marks. Rusty and Smelly Bathroom: The bathroom was in terrible condition—rusty fixtures, dirty surfaces, and a strong unpleasant odor. It was impossible to use the bathroom comfortably. Unsealed Water Bottles: The water bottles provided were unsealed, looking like they were refilled, which is highly concerning from a hygiene perspective. Non-Functional Locker: The in-room locker was rusty and didn’t work at all, making it completely useless. AC Turned Off: The air conditioning was inexplicably turned off on the second day at the buffet area leaving the room uncomfortably warm. Poor Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi was only functional inside the room and did not work anywhere else in the hotel, which was highly inconvenient. TV Remote Not Working: The TV remote didn’t work, which added to the frustration during our stay. Unfair Extra Charges: We were charged extra for room service when we simply asked for replacements for the dirty towels and cups. This was not something we ordered, but a basic necessity due to their negligence. No Toothbrush or Toothpaste: We were surprised to learn that the hotel doesn't provide basic essentials like toothbrush and toothpaste. When we asked, they told us they generally don't provide them. This is highly unusual as most other hotels provide these essentials as a standard service. Despite paying Rs150,000+, the experience was far below what should be expected from any hotel. The lack of cleanliness, subpar food hygiene, and additional, unfair charges left us deeply disappointed. Not recommended at all.
