Hotel Saginoyu is a long established luxurious Japanese ryokan at Lake Suwa. Please enjoy the starry night sky of Nagano while relaxing at the open-air bath. Hotel is equipped with gallery of Japanese paintings. The latest dinner time is 19:30. Please note that dinner will not be served or refunded if you arrive after this time. We hope for your kind understanding and cooperation.

"It was the first night of my entire trip—and also the most expensive one. But it was absolutely worth it! Lake Suwa was right in front of the hotel. If you take the train, it might be a bit of a walk, but since I drove, the location was perfect. The hotel was incredibly spacious, and the onsen was lovely. Dinner (a full course meal) was exceptional, and breakfast was just as impressive—absolutely delicious! One thing I still wonder about: what were those insects outside the window at night? They clung to the glass, and I was afraid they might get inside. Thankfully, the window seals were excellent, so none of them made it indoors. Only the outdoor bath had a few, which was understandable. I truly hope I can go back again—with my mom next time!"

"From Matsumoto to Baima, take the IC card taken when entering the station on the JR Otaru Line. When you arrive at Baima, you cannot use the IC card. You can't speak English and Japanese. Fortunately, the boss of the Baima Canadian mountain forest cabin will pick you up and use translation software to help communicate with the JR station staff (originally paid cash first, Then reset my card). Baima Canada Mountain Lodge, this hot spring hotel surrounded by ski resorts, has many plateau ski resorts 1 to 5 miles nearby, and is a 1 km walk from the famous Bafangweigen ski resort 🚠 station (general boss will pick up and drop off for free). One bedroom and one living room apartment kitchen utensils are complete, the room is clean and the staff is warm. The hotel service is quite intimate, the boss is free and responsive, (free JR White Horse Station connection, need to be made in advance), we arrived on October 25, the free shuttle bus at the Octagon Odori cable car station has been suspended, but the hotel owner is very user-friendly and will pick up and drop off for free, making tourists feel at home during the trip. The hotel's hot springs are to the ”Baima Temple の Wood ホテル” bubble (provide coupons 1000/person) 250 meters away, the source of the discharge of Zhuang Bingwei の soup, spring quality , very smooth after the bubble. Baima の Wood ホテル and Baima Canadian Mountain Lodge are the same boss. Where is the restaurant that provides (buffet) breakfast and dinner, it is very rich. If you have any needs, please contact the boss in advance to make an appointment. Breakfast is about 2,000 /person (can be discounted 200/person); The price of dinner is 5,000/person (can be discounted 500/person). During this 5-night stay, I got a lot of help from the boss. It was a very unforgettable experience. I fell in love with the beautiful Baima Village in the sunny day of waiting for the Bafangweigen Bafang Pool! If you have a chance, you will see you again, and still choose ”Canada Mountain Lodge”!"

"Matsuya Ryokan is located inside the Niomon Gate of Zenko-ji Temple. It has an excellent geographical location and is just a few steps from Zenko-ji Temple. The front of the hotel is small, but the inside is a different world, very deep and open. The room we stayed in was half Japanese and half Western. When we opened the window, we could see the statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and the street scene along the street. The hotel has a hot spring bath and a Japanese restaurant. The food is very delicious and full. The proprietress is kind and the waiters are polite. It is very comfortable and cozy. It is said that this traditional inn has been run by the Suzuki family for six generations. It is very historical. When traveling to Japan, you should stay in this traditional inn to experience it. Although the price is a bit expensive, it is really worth the money."

"The hotel was great and exceeded our expectation in all ways. the parking was large and easy to access. The facilities were great especially the onsen on level 5, the view of teh onsen out to the mountains was fantastic. The reception and staff in the hotel were super courteous and smiley and friendly. The breakfast was beyond expectation , the hotel staff will meet you at the lobby and guide you to your seats/table where all the food has been prepared and laid out. the food was great and super filling, with appetizer, miso soup, side dishes, main, rice, fruits, green tea/coffee and also dessert in the form of yoghurt. Aside form that, for the Western breakfast, they set up a toastbox at the table for you to toast your basket of bread assortment. Other worthy aspect are the 8-10pm Sake hours, where you are given tokens to sample the range of sake and wine from their coin-operated dispenser, along with free snacks. When they make up the room daily, they will also leave sample of snacks on the table daily. Overall it was a great stay and i will definately recommend this hotel to others/my friends."

"We loved staying in Koishiya! It is a lovely, quaint, cozy, homey ryokan and the service was excellent. We booked this property at the last minute because we decided to spend the night in Nagano just a week prior to the start of our trip and we are so glad we did. Shibu Onsen is a super cute town. It being covered in snow when we were there made it all the more magical. The members of the staff were super warm, acommodating, generous and conversed well in English. They picked us up from Snow Monkey Park even though it's not part of their service. We didn't know this because we haven't yet read the hotel orientation materials by then. The owner of a snack store in Monkey Park arranged the pick up for us because it looked like we were so tired from walking. Thank you so much for picking us up, Koishiya!! We stayed in the annex and we had the whole building to ourselves. It was really a memorable stay for us. They also dropped us off at Yudanaka Station after check out. Thank you, Koishiya and hope to stay there again, soon!"

"Love this ryokan! The service was just amazing! We arrived the ryokan feeling cold and asked where we could get some heat pads and was told that since the ryokan provides free shuttle to train station, they could send us to convenient store. And before it, the staff came back with some mini heat pads for us to use for the meanwhile. There was also paid shuttle to snow monkey park (500 yen per pax one way) that you can arrange with them. We had a tatami room, it was spacious and the staff came to the room to do the check in and served tea and welcome snack to us. The ryokan guests are entitled to go to nine onsens around the area for free. The ryokan provides yukatas and all necessities for it. The meals were sumptuous and super yummy. Overall, a fantastic ryokan experience for us!"

Honestly, I can't praise this place enough. The owners are a really lovely couple; very welcoming and extremely helpful. The rooms are great - plenty of space and all the amenities you need for a short stay. The onsen is just the best - it's a private one that you can lock the door to and have to yourself for as long as you can cope with the hot water! But the *food* - wow! The food is absolutely fantastic and expertly cooked. Honestly, I've eaten in Michelin starred restaurants with food that wasn't as good as this. On top of that, at our first evening meal, we found that the message hadn't been relayed about my wife being a pescatarian. Anywhere else that might have been a problem, but within twenty-five minutes an entire new fish meal had been prepared and served - and was absolutely amazing. We were SO impressed. Also, what a truly beautiful location. Oh yes, and they have *monkeys*!! They wandered past the property in the evening and wandered back the next morning. I'm trying to name anything negative and I honestly can't - the closest thing I can think of is that the property is hard to locate and you definitely need a car to get there, but if you can get there, do - it was one of two equal-best places we've stayed at in Japan. Thank you to the owners (sorry, I never asked your names) for a wonderful stay in your home.

This place is ~5mins walk from Zenkoji temple. neighborhood is peaceful at night. Shoes to be removed outside the accommodation. Rooms are on the 2nd floor so you'll have to carry your luggage up (there's no lift). Room (with window) is huge. You'll have to head downstairs to use the shared toilet and shared onsen (no toilet inside the room). We were only allowed 30mins of onsen time for 2 pax - couples weren't allowed to use the onsen concurrently so we had to go one after another (i'm not sure if the instructions got lost in translation..). Felt very rushed so i didnt really get to enjoy the onsen experience, but overall was nice and clean. Interesting 6.30am tour around the area and within the temple itself, followed by a simple vegetarian breakfast (porridge with omakase-styled sides with miso soup) back at the accommodation. The morning tour lasted from 6.30am - 8.30am. The accommodation provided a fleece blanket to each pax to bring to Zenkoji temple to keep us warm during the morning praying ceremony. We went on 30 Dec and it was SO COLD. Overall interesting experience but accommodation price is pretty steep IMO.

Wonderful Stay at Garden Pension Obogurgl We had an excellent experience at Garden Pension Obogurgl. The location is perfect—just a short walk to the Hakuba Goryu lifts, which made getting on the mountain super easy every day. The pension itself is cozy, clean, and peaceful, with a lovely garden that adds to the charm. Our room was warm and comfortable, with plenty of space for ski gear, and the communal areas had a relaxed, homely vibe. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, always happy to help with local tips and transport advice. We especially enjoyed being able to walk everywhere—whether it was to the nearby convenience stores, local restaurants, or just strolling among the beautiful pine trees. The large cherry blossom tree out the front added a special touch to the peaceful surroundings. If you're after a quiet, scenic, and welcoming place to stay in Hakuba Goryu, Garden Pension Obogurgl is a fantastic choice.

The meals in the evening and in the morning were delicious! I went in the middle of summer, but it was so cool and comfortable that I was able to sleep with the windows open at night without turning on the air conditioner. I was a little worried about the unisex toilets on the second floor, but the toilets on the first floor were separated for men and women, so I used the one on the first floor. The owner was also very kind, and after checking out, he drove me to the nearest station. This was very helpful as I had a lot of luggage. The price was also reasonable, so I was very satisfied. I would like to use this hotel again on my next summer trip to Nagano.

Not more than 10-minutes walk away from the Chuo Bus Terminal, and near to the Hikage Gondola station. The Shin-yu onsen is less than 2-min walk further up. It preserved the look and feel of a hotel late 90s - early 2000s. Clean, and tidy with a spacious tatami room. The hostess was very hospitable, and I was shown my room upon arrival at 12pm+, well before the official 3pm check-in time. The heater kept the room warm at 24C. Shared toilet facility. Even though it has its own public bath, clients were encouraged to make use of the free onsen facilities, with small buckets of toiletries placed near the main entrance which can be brought out. I kept my luggage there after checking out in the morning for free. Only came back to collect after my skiing at the end of the day. Be punctual for the breakfast at 730pm if you subscribe to the meal. Well, had a satisfying stay. 😊

It's a cozy and lovely little hostel. The location is super convenient, just a short walk from Nagano Station. It feels like an old house, but it's been decorated very cutely and comfortably. It's perfect for solo travelers or those looking to transfer goods. The only downside is that the bathroom is a bit cold.

The place is fantastic for family vacation. We got there by train and the resort has arranged for a complimentary pick up. The cabin is nice and warm with a full functional kitchen (except for the microwave which kept tripping the circuit breaker). We ran out of food as we under estimated our appetite during winter. Unfortunately the centre house only serve coffee and hot soup, so we have to ration our bread on our last day of stay. My boys had fun playing with the snow and built 2 snowmen (the first one was destroyed by the blizzard on the 2nd day). We rented the snow shoes and tried to go trekking but failed as the snow was too thick. However we still had fun. We spent the nights in the cabin playing card games, something we didn’t have time to do when living in the city. Really enjoying the nice scenery and the wonder white Christmas.

The hotel is one kilometer away from the bus terminal, but there are small stops near the hotel to various ski resorts, which is very convenient. I booked a total of 5 nights, including meals. The 5 breakfasts are basically Japanese, very hearty and satisfying! It is a traditional Japanese-style bed and breakfast. The room is on tatami mats and you make your own bed. In some years, the furniture is not new, and you can hear it in the walking room in the corridor, but it is very clean! The quality of the guests is also very good, there is no loud noise, which is much better than the Europeans and Americans who later lived in the hotel! The boss is an old Japanese couple. They don’t talk much and may not always smile like other Japanese people, but in fact they love to help. After dinner every morning, they ask you where you plan to go today, and then pull you there. His map wall helps you plan your itinerary, and the hotel also has a lot of coupons or low-cost ski tickets for ski resort cooperation. Save a lot of expenses. After checking out, you need to change to another hotel. After the boss asks the address, he will send it to the next one, but there are still not many words 😁, thank you for your rigorous and lovely Japanese grandpa Very cost-effective, recommended!
