"The room was clean and tidy, but the minor details of cleanliness could be improved. There are many decent eateries on Xihua Road: 1. Zhen Wu Men (downstairs): Shrimp dumplings, Wanzai porridge, soy sauce steamed chicken feet (they often have discounts every time I visit). 2. Zhu Fen Mian: The beef rice noodles are pretty good, located by the hostel's riverside. 3. Cai Fu Mian Jia: Fresh shrimp wontons (good for those who aren't too picky). 4. Corinth: Sandwiches with both toasted and soft bread options, quite tasty. 5. Dong Fang Market: A bustling market with a wide variety of fresh, good-quality, and affordable fruits, vegetables, and seafood. You can really feel the vibrant local life of Guangzhou here. 6. Fo You Yuan Vegetarian Restaurant: If you enjoy vegetarian food, you can give it a try. I personally think it's quite good. 7. Xin Zhan Lao Hao Water Chestnut Powder: The water chestnut cake is slightly sweet. Worth trying if you haven't had it before. Recommended places that won't disappoint: 8. Shi Ying Wan Zai Chi (Dezheng Zhong Branch): The taste is decent, good for trying something new. 9. Da Yang Yuan Wei Dun Pin (Weming Road Branch): I've had it a few times. 10. Chang Le Bing Wu (Weming Branch): The Portuguese egg tarts are crispy and not overly sweet, just the right amount of sweetness. The recommendations are listed from nearest to furthest. Public transport and the metro are convenient. Hope everyone has a good experience!"

"I usually never bother to write reviews for accommodations, but after having a simple lunch for over 100 RMB in Huaqiangbei today, I suddenly felt compelled to review the Qiyou Hostel where I'm staying. For just 88 RMB a night, it's not only clean, comfortable, and has warm, attentive service, but it's truly a condensed five-star hotel experience. The lobby is spacious and bright, and they offer free freshly ground coffee – yes, free! Many five-star hotels I've stayed in don't even offer complimentary freshly ground coffee! They also have free tea, direct-drink hot and cold water, and separate male and female rest areas. The guests all seem very respectful; the lounge area is really quiet. The sleeping pods are incredibly comfortable too; the bed is spacious enough, there's air conditioning, a locker for personal items, and hooks to hang things. Everyone in the sleeping area also has a locker that can fit a large suitcase. The lovely front desk staff told me that if I have a lot of luggage, I can store it in their baggage room. They have a wide selection of books available for free loan. In the evenings, you'll see groups of guests sitting in the lobby, chatting softly – many foreigners, men and women, old and young, all looking very relaxed. Besides not providing disposable toiletries, they offer everything else a star-rated hotel would. Oh, and you can buy toiletries and other common necessities from the vending machine in the lobby, and the prices are very reasonable. You can tell the owner genuinely cares. Highly recommend!"

"Pros: The front desk staff guided me through check-in. There's a dedicated room for luggage. Toilet paper, shower gel, shampoo, laundry detergent, and slippers are all provided for free. There's a microwave and a refrigerator available. The common area is spacious, perfect for reheating leftover takeout when you're hungry. You just need to swipe your room card for entry and exit, no need to remember passwords. Although the drying area is indoors, it's equipped with a dehumidifier and small fans, so clothes don't get musty. The restrooms are odor-free, and an auntie cleans them daily. Cons: Aside from the top bunk in the eight-person dorm, which has stairs, all other rooms require climbing a ladder. You also need to put on disposable bedding yourself, which felt like it was of average quality and easily torn. That's all I can think of for now; I'll add more if anything else comes to mind later."

"I loved my stay here! The staff are all incredibly friendly and there’s a lively social atmosphere in the evenings (if you speak Chinese!). The girls in my room were actually super chatty! The bathrooms were great for a hostel, squatters only though, and generally kept clean. The bedrooms are apartment style with two dorm rooms opening onto a living room space with a little sitting room with a table and chairs. The rooms are big with lots of suitcase space, and there’s lockers for your valuables plus bedside plug sockets. The beds were comfy and the duvets plush! There’s so much nearby from coffee shops to food and a mall about 10 mins walking away for essentials!"

"We recently stayed here for two months for a business trip with about 10 people. It took my boss 2-3 days to find this hostel, and we were all really happy with it. It's quiet yet conveniently located. The common area is super comfortable, and the shower water pressure is great and relaxing. The owner even provided good quality shower gel, shampoo, and toilet paper. The washing machine and dryer were reasonably priced to use. Honestly, it felt just like staying in a mid-range hotel, and the cleanliness of the bedding even surpassed some! The owner was always accommodating and helpful. A big thank you to the owner for taking care of us for a whole month. I specifically wanted to leave this good review to commend them."

"Pros: Close to the subway station, no need to walk; friendly front desk staff; comfortable bedding; plenty of storage space with a small table; key card access provides a sense of security. Cons: No squat toilet; washing machine is expensive; no proper place to hang clothes on the balcony, so they air-dry slowly and tend to smell; the room had poor ventilation and an odor. But the biggest issue was definitely the roommates! Every single night I stayed here, I encountered incredibly noisy roommates. Late at night, they'd drag suitcases, talk on the phone, eat loudly, play music without headphones, bang bottles on the table, etc. Are the notices on the door just for show? I genuinely want to know how this problem can be resolved. I tried talking to them myself, but they just ignored me and carried on. If I tell the front desk, can they really kick guests out? Everyone pays to stay here. Do we just have to put up with the disturbances of others just because it's a hostel? I really don't understand how some people grow up with absolutely no manners. The late-night noise is one thing, but is it really that hard to throw toilet paper in the trash can instead of on the floor? Not flushing the toilet also affects the next person's experience. And the room had no ventilation, despite clear warnings not to hang clothes haphazardly, some people still did, and others ate late at night. The room smelled really bad! Those who follow the rules have to put up with it, while those who don't live freely. 👍👍👍 They really treat this place like their own home. At least consider that many people are living here and think about others' feelings. If I had encountered well-behaved roommates, or if I could get a reasonable solution to the issues I mentioned, then this hostel would honestly be excellent in every way."

"The service was very nice, and the girl at the front desk was very kind. However, I almost checked out because the girl in my room worked at night, and I couldn't sleep. She set the air conditioner to 30°C. I told her the room was very warm, and she finally lowered it to 27.5°C. 😂 I was roasting! Also, the bed squeaked every time we moved. The receptionist offered me another room, but I preferred to move to a different hostel"

"The front desk is on the first floor, and the second floor is an all-female accommodation area, divided into common areas (living room, lockers, restrooms) and guest rooms. Luggage cannot be taken into the rooms. After entering the second floor, you first change into slippers at the entrance of the common area, and then put your luggage in the lockers. Pros: 1. There are two cleaning staff every day, and the common areas and rooms are cleaned daily, which is quite clean. You don't have to put on duvet covers yourself, which is great! 2. The guesthouse facilities and management are well-planned. 3. The common area has desks, charging outlets, a refrigerator, and a water dispenser. 4. Disposable toiletries are complete, including bath towels, sanitary napkins, steam eye masks, etc. You don't need to buy them yourself, which is very cost-effective. Cons: 1. The washing machine and dryer cost money; one wash and one dry costs upwards of 6 yuan. 2. The restrooms are a bit small; it's a bit difficult to open the door and turn around if you're a bit larger. 3. Wet clothes can only be hung in the washing area, which is limited. When there are many people, clothes are squeezed together and can't air out properly. 4. The shower products (shower gel and shampoo are really not good, they don't lather at all. Can they be replaced with better ones?) Overall, it's pretty good. After staying in such a well-managed hostel, I really don't want to stay in private hostels anymore. Although the price is a bit high, there are free disposable toiletries, so you don't have to buy these things yourself, which lightens the burden of our luggage."

"The apartment was very clean. We wore the slippers provided by the apartment inside, so there were no unpleasant odors. Our own shoes and socks were left outside. The bed sheets and duvet covers were also clean. It's really good value for money. The night view from the window is beautiful, and because it's on a high floor, there are no mosquitoes."

"A comfortable and cozy guesthouse with stunning views from the rooftop, complete with hammocks and an English-speaking host (which was super helpful for a foreigner like me). The facilities were very clean. It's relatively close to the train station and surrounded by many bus stops, making it easy to get to different parts of the city. An excellent choice for traveling in Shantou!"
