Hostels in Taiwan, China

"The environment is okay, but I wouldn't recommend it for female travelers (reason at the end). They have two buildings. One has separate male and female showers, while the other has shared ones. The downside is that the separate showers are on the -1 floor, which is a bit inconvenient. The curtain for my bunk bed was split, so it couldn't block drafts, and privacy was quite poor. Besides that, a fellow traveler told me that when she booked a female-only bed, there was no gender requirement during booking or check-in. And a male guest appeared in the female-only room for two consecutive nights (there were men's shoes and male snoring)."

"The hot tub in the room is in an open-air space, which is something to be aware of when booking. The tub is large enough for two people to lie in simultaneously, quite spacious but not very deep. The large floor-toceiling windows offer a fantastic view. Parking is conveniently located just across the street. Tangweigou Park is within walking distance, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The Chinese-style porridge for breakfast was just average. There's no place to hang clothes in the bathroom."

"Convenient location near Taipei Main Station, making it easy to travel around the city and take day trips. The room was clean, comfortable, and suitable for a short stay. The facilities were well maintained, and the overall environment felt cosy and pleasant. Staff were helpful and the check-in process was smooth. Overall, I had a comfortable stay and would recommend it for travellers looking for a convenient place to stay in Taipei."

"Having to enter a password even before getting on the elevator in the basement is annoying. The beds in the dorm room and the women's bathroom are more spacious than typical hostels, which is great. There's a locker with a combination lock under the bed. Check-out is also done via a self-service machine (I was lucky that day, a staff member helped me with it). The 6th floor has laundry facilities, including laundry pods, one washing machine, and one dryer, plus tons of hangers. The drying area is very large. The accommodation is right on the corner, noticeable and easy to find. In room 201, you can hear the water running in the outside restroom. The 5th-floor common room is small but feels very homey. It offers tea bags, candies, and even a balcony and a piano. The luggage rack in the basement is a bit small. After entering, you check in using the self-service machine. You can enter your name instead of a long booking number, which is convenient. Before going upstairs, you need to change into slippers. The slippers are already in lockers, marked with the designated bed number, which is thoughtful. The elevator is fragrant, large, and clean. Earplugs and toothbrushes can be purchased on the 2nd floor. There are water dispensers on the ground floor and the 5th floor. Visitors are not allowed upstairs (including the 5F common room). If needed, please use the shared space on B1. * The main entrance, elevators (only on the ground floor), restrooms, and female dorm rooms all require a password for entry and require wearing indoor slippers. * All guests staying in any room type must register. * Only body wash, shampoo, and hairdryers are provided. If you need towels or other amenities, please rent/purchase them at the self-service counter outside the 5th-floor common room. * Restroom and common room cleaning times: 11 AM - 3 PM. During peak times, please use the restrooms on the 5th floor. * No parking service is provided. There are large paid parking lots nearby, within a 3-10 minute walk. Street parking is free from 10 PM to 8 AM the next morning. * Outside of front desk service hours (9 PM - 9 AM), there's no staff to assist with private lockers. If you forget your combination or your lock gets stuck, no unlocking service is provided."

"Downsides: 1. The toilet stank to high heaven. Every time I walked past, it was like entering a gas chamber – truly awful. 2. No refunds for early check-out. For example, if you book for four days and leave two days early, you won't get your money back. 3. Breakfast was incredibly basic, just half a slice of toast with jam. 4. There's only one large dining table, and you might encounter strange guests who could bother you. It’s better to just eat out. Upsides: 1. It's very close to Formosa Boulevard MRT Station, Exit 8. However, if you're not specifically looking for a place near Formosa Boulevard, there are better hostels in Kaohsiung for the same price and standard. If you do choose this one, I'd recommend staying for just one night. Staying two or more nights feels like you're getting ripped off."

"I had a wonderful stay at this hostel and was very impressed with everything. My flight arrived quite late at night, and the front desk closes at midnight. However, a kind male staff member was there to welcome me and kindly explained everything I needed to know about the hostel. I’m very sorry that I didn’t ask for his name, but I truly appreciate his help and warm welcome, especially since I arrived late at night. I especially want to thank him because his kindness and helpfulness really made me feel comfortable after arriving. The room was clean and comfortable, and I slept very well. The hostel is also conveniently located within walking distance of Taipei Main Station MRT, which made getting around very easy. The shower room and toilet are separated, but they are very close to each other, so it was not inconvenient at all. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and was very impressed with this hostel. Everything was perfect, and I would definitely be happy to stay here again ❤️"

"Bathroom was not that clean but the kitchen was really disgusting with bugs in the coffee in the morning, you have to pay for leaving your luggage In a locker before the checkin, no USB/ USB-c to charge your phone you need the ********* adapter, I had to buy it for one night since during my two weeks trip all the other hostels I’ve stayed at did have a USB-C one. The self check in did not work with my name but the staff did help me by changing something in the system."

"I got a bunk bed room for this trip, budget but good environment, and security. staff is friendly and nice they are always willing to help it’s nearby Zhongshan station and Taipei main station. The shared bathroom have soap and shampoo also dryer. They also provide the towel. Love it will be back for sure. 🩷🩷🩷🇹🇼🇹🇼"

"This was my second time staying here in Taichung. It's clean, and communication is easy via LINE. However, there was a slight misunderstanding. I thought check-out was at 12:00 PM, but it's actually 11:00 AM, which almost resulted in me being charged extra. Luckily, I communicated through LINE, so I avoided the penalty. ฉันไปพักที่นี่ครั้งที่ 2 ที่ไปเมืองไถจง ที่นี่สะอาด ติดต่อง่ายผ่าน ไลน์ แต่มีความเข้าใจผิดเล็กน้อย ฉันเข้าใจว่า เช็กเอ้าเวลา 12.00 น. แต่ ความจริงคือเช็กเอ้า 11.00 น. ทำให้ฉันเกือบโดนปรับเงิน แต่โชคดีที่ฉันได้พูดคุยผ่านไลน์ทำให้ฉันไม่โดนปรับเงิน"
