Hostels in Yunnan, China

Wonderful place to stay, I love the vibe and energy of the hostel itself. I did not stay enough to enjoy to lovely activities and community but I absolutely reccommend this place. I stayed in 8 women room and I appreciated the cleanliness of the bed, bedsheet, locker etc. That is very important as it is the only space just for you. Bathroom was ok, I did not know it is mixed but I did not have any problem - and it was also clean. I like the option of the restaurant and free tea at the reception. Location is also great! Kunming is lovely and artsy town🫶

This was the best hostel I've stayed at. What stood out most was the most amazing welcoming service. The owner spoke perfect english, was able to help me with everything, offered me tea, snacks and even a ride back to the hostel on the back of his scooter when he met me randomly (all for free). It almost felt like I was staying at a guest familys house even though I was one of many guests (many international ones too). The hostel is located conveniently directly next to the ancient town and a bus station which connects directly to the Railway Station and the Three Pagodas (Line 4) and the Lake (Line C2). The facilities aren't the most modern but very well kept. The rooms as well as the community spaces are very beautiful and comfortable. There are electric blankets and the widest most comfortable matresses I've ever seen at a hostel. Overall a perfect stay, highly reccomend!

First off, the location is excellent! You can walk to the old town, making it super convenient to get around everywhere. The facilities are also very comprehensive, and the hygiene is top-notch. The bed was incredibly soft. There's even a pool table in the common area and a dedicated vanity room for women, among other things – it feels really cozy here. The restaurant on the first floor is lovely; you can gather around the fireplace, which is so warm. I even made some friends here, everyone was so nice. Hope to see you all again next time I'm in Shangri-La!

Great hostel nestled in a neighborhood that's a 10 minute walk from Kunming railway station. I knocked one point off for location because it's not very close to the subway and quite a distance from Kunming old town and some other cool neighborhoods. The hostel vibe is excellent, met a bunch of great friends here and the staff are both accommodating and friendly. Bonus: two great hostel dogs from Tibet. Rooms and common areas are very clean, bathroom is solid (hot water, lots of stalls). The place is constantly improving and it looks like the roof is going to be an excellent hang spot later this year once all they finish some decking. I'd stay here again!

First, some praise: ① Compared to the quadruple rooms in other hostels I've stayed in, this one is more spacious and the hygiene is good. ② The location, tucked away in an alley off the main road, makes it quiet enough if there's no one being noisy. In my opinion, the shortcomings are: ① The room truly has nothing in it – no disposable toiletries whatsoever. While it does make it look tidy, it's quite bare. ② The hot water flow in the private bathroom is a bit weak, lacking any real pressure. ③ The room door isn't soundproof, and the floor creaks loudly when walked on. Facilities: The sheets and duvet covers were given to me upon check-in, and they did look a bit old.

Hygiene: Good. You need to change your own bedding (three-piece set), which is reassuring. Each room has a private bathroom, and there are two more in the lobby. If you check in late or return late and don't want to disturb your roommates, you can wash up in the lobby – very convenient. There are some notices posted on the door. The owner, Cai Cai, is very nice. Environment: It's in a village, but you can locate your car using GPS. Taxis in Pu'er aren't expensive, so I think it's acceptable. The girls here often play Werewolf, but unfortunately, we couldn't play together due to time constraints. Everyone was really enthusiastic! ❤️🔥 Service: Good ٩（•̤̀ᵕ•̤́๑）ᵒᵏᵎᵎᵎᵎ Facilities: Earplugs are provided. Tissues are available in the living room for as needed. Bring your own toiletries or order takeout. I must praise the bed – it's incredibly sturdy; it doesn't make any rattling noises when you turn over, which is perfect for restless sleepers! I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Pu'er!

First, let me start with a compliment! The service attitude was exceptionally good! Whether it was asking the customer service小姐姐 for two extra quilts because I'm sensitive to cold, or asking the kitchen姐姐 for a plate to wash some fruit, everyone was incredibly willing to help! No one showed any impatience whatsoever. Everyone was genuinely wonderful, like a big, happy family! Now for the downsides: The secondhand smoke issue is really serious! From the moment you walk in, there are smokers everywhere, and there are ashtrays outside the rooms on the second floor, with people smoking there every day. Of course, I had seen reviews mentioning this before checking in, so I was mentally prepared. Also, the water heater was still quite unstable, alternating between scalding hot and freezing cold. I was practically doing a tango in the shower! Overall, it's great value for money, and I even found a companion. I would still recommend staying at 'Dajiaoshi' if you're traveling alone!

I arrived at the youth hostel at around 9pm. I booked it immediately after seeing the room. The room was clean and comfortable, well ventilated, and both the room and the bathroom had windows. The bedding was also clean, and the room was quite large. There was a large platform on the top floor, which was very comfortable to sit and enjoy the breeze at night. I will stay at this youth hostel again next time I go to Jianshui. The boss was also very nice. I didn't eat after arriving, so he recommended Lao Er BBQ nearby. I couldn't find it on the map, but it was delicious!

I only stayed one night and then left. During the off-season, for just an extra 20-30 RMB, I could have stayed in a guesthouse with air conditioning and a private room. I've stayed in Hangzhou and Chengdu in 2023 and 2024, and had a great impression. However, this Lijiang branch, perhaps due to too many guests or cleaning staff being overwhelmed, had rather poor hygiene. 1. There were dried-up contact lenses left by the previous guest on the bedside table. 2. Before going to bed, there was a large bug on the bedsheet… it really scared me. 3. The bathroom was a bit dirty, especially the door which looked encrusted, like a public toilet… the water stains in the sink from brushing teeth and washing up hadn't been cleaned in time and looked very dirty. 4. Some of the bedside power outlets weren't working (both the two and three-prong outlets had no power, fortunately, the front desk later moved me to another room). They should really check these. The young staff provided very good service, but the cleaning aunties definitely need to be given stricter instructions.

located near to the city, for muslim people, easy to find halal food near the hostel. everything was nice. There was no fan in the room but when i came it’s already end of autumn, so it’s not a problem for me.
