King Arthurs Arms
4.4/547 Reviews
King Arthur’s Arms is fabulously located next to a huge car park, yet on Fore Street, which is the Main Street running through Tintagel and about 3 minutes walk to the top of the hill leading down to English Heritage’s Tintagel Castle. On arrival we were checked in at the bar by Jess with a very friendly Cornish welcome. The smell of cleanliness emerged us as we walked up to our huge room with double bed, wardrobe, dressing table, easy chairs and huge bathroom with double walk in shower, sink, toilet and heated radiator. Huge room for Cornwall and immaculate. We chilled out and wandered along and around Tintagel Castle, then back to the pub for dinner. It’s an extensive menu with huge portions. There was no issue with pub noise and we slept well, waking for an extensive breakfast which commences with a choice of pastries and cereals, then Full English, teas, coffees and juices! We were then able to stay parked for a few hours after check out at 10am to wander around Tintagel. Really cannot recommend King Arthur’s Arms enough and particularly so to single parents with kids-safe, friendly and accommodating and shout out to Jess for super friendly service throughout!
The Crooked Inn

Has everything you may need for a night's stay. Bed was comfortable. It wasn't very clean, with cobwebs in every corner of the room and a couple spiders aswell. I had to get rid of a few mosquitos as well. There was dust on light fittings and lamp shades, the bathroomlifght switch didnt look like it had been cleaned. The room had a very noticeable damp smell in the air and there were small spots of what looked like mould, on the bathroom ceiling. The toilet seat was stained a yellow colour 🤢(its only a few quid for a new 1🫤). The carpet hadn't seemed to be hoovered before I arrived as there was some dirt and dead insects lying around. Luckily I didn't have to spend too much time in the room, most of the time I was sleeping, otherwise I would have asked to stay in another room to be very honest. The breakfast was really good though!

Coach and Horses Inn
4.4/574 Reviews
I don’t know how they do it, but the Coach and Horses manages to combine a quaint and charming environment with modern day comforts. Spotlessly clean, delicious food and a relaxing pub environment. We went for a 3 night stay over Christmas and we are so glad we did. The Wi-Fi was seamless, there was a hairdryer in the room, a full length mirror and a good selection of teas, coffees, hot chocolate and biscuits in the room. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were warm and cosy. They thought of everything, there was Cornish bottled water, some lovely toiletries, ample clean white towels and an excellent rainshower. We spent the evenings in front of the roaring fire in the pub, and the landlord and landlady were friendly and made us extremely welcome. This pub is truly a hidden treasure, it’s full of history, but sympathetically modernised so its charm is retained. We had the Christmas menu on Christmas Day and the food was delicious. The portions were large and everything was fresh, it was the best Christmas meal I’ve ever had… I swear the homemade roast potatoes were cooked by a god… our sincere thanks to everyone at the Coach and Horses for making our Christmas so special for us all xxx
The Black Swan

We went here for lunch after visiting the seal sanctuary, and were very impressed with the pub, staff and food. The roast dinner is definitely recommended....in fact it was one of the best we've ever had ! Plenty of meat and many different vegetables, all piping hot. Very reasonable price and excellent value for money. We will definitely return! Special mention to Riley, a very friendly and attentive young man.
Jacobs Ladder Inn
4.2/516 Reviews
After climbing what seemed to be a hundred steps we arrived at Jacobs Ladder. I must say, from the outside I wasn't sure we were in the right place. It seemed dark and certainly didn't look like they served food? We were very wrong. We were served quickly and both opted for the brisket burger and it was one of the nicest burgers we'd ever had. If you're looking for a hidden gem that serves tasty food for a reasonable price you've found it! Highly recommend.
The Cornubia Inn

The best staff and regular clientele we have seen as a couple on our travels! My boss booked this last minute as a reward for our hard work after a fantastically successful exhibition in Penzance. Despite the last minute booking, the staff were well prepared for us. Upon arrival the extremely professional and courteous bar-staff treated us so well. After such a busy exhibition, we were tired and confused. As well as the staff, the regular clientele were fantastic at helping us with directions and other local advice. The shining star of our stay were the two bar ladies. Between them they helped us complete the simplest of tasks that we were unable to perform (ie working a very easy to use coffee maker) and charging our phones with their own chargers. Whenever we got confused, they were there to guide and support us until we went to bed! We can not recommend this hotel enough. The room was spotless when we arrived, with all the modern conveniences (that we couldn't work until shown with much patience by the aforementioned staff). Anyone looking for a friendly, professional and welcoming hotel - get your booking in quick!

Brunel Inn
3.3/570 Reviews
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, it’s Faulty Towers in Saltash. I arrived on a Monday and my first room didn’t have curtains on the window and there was no plug in the sink, my second room was better as it had curtains, but again the plug in the sink didn’t fit and no plug in the bath, it had a double bed and a single bed but the double had a single dovie so I had to use the other single dovie to keep warm as there was no central heating. The night I arrived I went down to eat but was told they don’t serve food on Mondays and Tuesdays and as this was 20.05 pm they said the chip shop had closed at 8pm. When I asked why they didn’t say they didn’t provide food they said we advertise as a B&B. The first night the bar closed at 9 pm which meant I had to go to my room as the place was locked. The next morning I went downstairs for breakfast to be told they don’t serve breakfast any day, I said but you advertise you do B&B they said they had to say that as the can’t advertise they don’t do breakfast. The second night was no better but I did manage fish and chips before 8pm but again the bar closed at 9pm due to lack of customers, so again I was forced up to my room. As the sink couldn’t hold water I asked if they could keep my milk in the fridge overnight and to leave it at my door in the morning which they did, and that night I had my first cooked meal in 3 days which was ok. I decided I had had enough and asked to check out on Thursday morning, again the bar closed but on the Thursday morning I had a knock at my door at 9.35 to tell me I had to be out my room by 10am but they didn’t drop my milk off so had nothing to drink, I went downstairs and said to the manager I hadn’t have the chance to have a coffee, so she maid me one, but she said I had been seen smoking out the window, I said yes because I was forced up to my room at 9pm and I didn’t go sleep until 11pm so what am i supposed to do,m. While sitting I looked my bank account to find a charge of £28 when I asked what this was for she said bought Everyone in the bar a drink, I disputed this but they said they had it in ctv, I was also due a refund for one night stay, but that refund was cancelled by the manager. I then took my coffee out side and a person came out and locked the main door but my luggage was in side, I had to ask her to open the door so I could get my luggage. This is by far the worst hotel experience of my life, so unless you want a Faulty Towers experience don’t go, don’t go

A very clean and friendly hotel, with a great breakfast that was made to your personal preference. In a central location (with a sea view from the window) and very helpful staff, espcially with regard to baggage storage. This was my second successful visit - thanks
