Stayed for 1 night and it is in a very good location. There’s a bar downstairs but you don’t hear the music from the room. Easy to walk to many more cafes, bars from the hostel.

I had a very pleasant 2 nights stay here. Staffs were friendly and very kind enough to let me change bed. They even offered welcome drinks. How nice! Dorms, toilets and showers were well kept and clean. Adequate storage spaces. Individual curtain for little privacy for each bed. Location wise, it was easy to commute from here to the center and airport and other tourists spots. It was very near to the Artis tram station, just around the corner. There was a nearby Metro station that was within walking distance (for me). I would say it is well connected. Would totally recommend for solo traveller that is looking for a nice hostel to stay. This would be it.

Good price in central Amsterdam. It's just a 3-minute walk from the ferry station and 2 minutes more to the AMS central. This trip is a one-night trip for interchange mt flight to AMS. Good vibes in the common area, clean room, and great roommate, but the bed rack can be improved.

Having have stayed in multiple hostels across Europe and Asia, my experience at Generator Amsterdam was very much below average for multiple reasons: 1) Their Customers: They take in large school groups of teenagers who are chaotic, noisy and severely lack any forms of civic mindedness. I was rudely awoke one morning because the neighbouring dorm (full of teenagers) was blasting EDM music and dancing in their room. The common areas are just flooded with teenagers and there aren’t much calm areas to chill and relax in. 2) Their Rooms: This is my first hostel experience in which I had to make my own bed. Tell me, is this normal? I’ve paid for cheaper hostels before this and they make the bed at the very least. Moreover, they store these sheets in the lockers that you’ll be using later on to keep your baggage and items. It seemed absolutely gross to put the bedding items in this locker, especially when I observed that mine seemed quite unclean once I got the beddings out. I don’t understand what’s on the minds of the hostel operators!? My room also had poor ventilation and had a foul stench. 3) Their Staff: Were brash, unfriendly and seemed to hate their job, very drastic difference from other service staff I met at other hostels. 4) Their Location: Barely prime, but given the price I can’t comment much. Near tram stations but Amsterdam’s public transport is very expensive.

Amsterdam Oud Zuid
I liked the place very much. Nice a**osphere at the bar, clean and very quite in the room and only 15 eur. Get your towel for shower and your own lock to lock your staff otherwise you have to pay which is normal considering the price of the bed. Bed is very comfortable but a bit short. I am 186 and it was not enough.

The location is very good as it is close to everywhere. The employees are helpful. The only problem is the noise outside. It is ideal for a one-night stay. I recommend it.

Bos en Lommer
First hostel I’ve ever felt unsafe at. There were a ton of creepy men. The staff was rude. The two guys who work at the front desk just drink and smoke all night. When asking for anything they act as though you’re inconveniencing them. I was called a N word by an elderly white guest. It appears maybe they are also a health care facility because everyday there was some elderly person with dementia staying there. It was strange . Rooms were insufferably hot. Two days I couldn’t sleep there had to stay with a friend nearby. It’s far from the city center so be prepared to take the train 30-40 mins everywhere . The art is nice

Oude Centrum
Super great hostel! Loved it very much. The location of the hostel is really convenient and you could basically go to major attractions in Amsterdam by walking for a few minutes like the ******************, the Dam square and more importantly the Central station. Though it is a large room that has quite a number of residents, everyone respected each other’s privacy and they did not make loud noises. The receptionists were super nice and helpful and they spoke good English. I would definitely recommend this place to y’all.

I booked a all female domitory and really liked the facilities such as a light bulb on the bed…. It was perfect for night readers, and the design was such that even if you turn on the light people won’t get disturbed. The room was clean and bathroom was clean too. Would recommend 💯
Room Mate Hostel Amsterdam Zaandam

I booked and paid in advance. I booked about three weeks before my arrival. But when I got there, I was told by the reception that I had to pay an extra €14.2. They told me that this was city tax, which tourists needed to pay. I really didn't understand it at that time. Because the receptionist received an email and was told to pay the tax, but I did not receive the notice at all. The key point was that it was not displayed when I made the appointment. So my decision is to contact customer service to solve the problem.
