great location, in front of new region street, close to city center. facilities are good, there are several bathrooms and toilets, never waited for one. kitchen is big, didn't use them but I think it's enough for backpacker to cook and storage their foods in fridge. I living in room for single, got a locker wardrobe and a window inside. I think there should be a table inside but there isn't, not big deal. the window was tricky, I don't.know how.to open or close it, it's like a trapdoor, maybe during winter it would be cold.

Haka House Lake Tekapo is an ideal base for exploring the area such as the Church of the Good Shepherd, Dark sky project and stargazing. A highly desirable location for visiting Lake Tekapo and watching the sunset. Modern facilities with a clean, comfortable, and cozy feel. Convenient for viewing the night sky although tiny sleep spaces are more of a functional stay in a high-demand area. I splurged a bit on this accommodation due to its proximity to the beauty of nature. There are no regrets.

This is a hotel that was converted from a historic prison. The staff are very nice and the guests are very friendly. It feels like a big family living together. It is not too far to walk to the city, so everything is very convenient.

Very nice location, good for relaxing, 1 km from town center, but so close to the lake by just crossing the street. I would love to stay longer next time. If you reach late at night, it’s better to contact hotel in advance and ask for map and photos of your room location before. I arrived very late at night from Christchurch (changed transit flight from Auckland). It took me awhile to understand the map, room location and where to park. It was just 1 day after new moon. So, it was very dark. It’s hard for me to figure out the scale of the place and I didn’t see the small cabin at the back from the street.

I checked in around midnight. There's a key safe at the entrance, they send you a code, and you take your key card. There are many cool people inside. The place is very clean, the staff is friendly. For the price, this place is just perfect for a couple of nights. I booked a 3-bed female-only dorm.

Haka House Mt Cook is amazing! I stayed in the 8-person female dorm, and my section had 4 beds. I was lucky enough to get a bottom bunk, and in the other section, I was all by myself, which was perfect. There were plenty of bathrooms, and the dining area and kitchen were very spacious. Eating with a view of Mt. Cook outside was incredibly enjoyable! I'd definitely choose Haka House again if I have the chance. There's also plenty of free parking, which is a huge plus!

It was Easter 🐣 week so the shop was closed, so I called and they opened the door for me. The shop is a bar, so it may be crowded on normal days, but I think it's a good idea to check with the staff. Everyone is very friendly and kind, so you can enter the room with peace of mind. The private room is as shown in the photo, and it even has a refrigerator. It was kept clean and very comfortable. It was raining and the outside temperature dropped, but it didn't affect the room. The shared space is the kitchen, shower and toilet, but this shop has been there since the 1800s, so you can feel the history. However, the kitchen has been remade and is induction compatible. I have only ever used gas, but I was able to use it without any problems! I also decided on this hotel because I was planning to watch a rugby game. It is about a 15-minute walk away, and there are McDonalds and other places, and the street lights are basically on, so I think the security is not a problem. I highly recommend this hotel over other Doritomi, so please give it a try! Thank you for a wonderful time!

The room is clean but small. It is a youth hostel. The shower and toilet are public spaces. The cooking area is large. It is in the center of the town. You must go to eat lobster BBQ.

Convenient location - walking distance to town centre. Clean bathrooms. Room is a bit old and heater makes a squeaky sound all night. Be prepared for it to be cold as the linen and blanket provided is insufficient. Only one toilet for a block of many rooms which is slightly inconvenient. Free tea and coffee in kitchen and plenty of cutlery plates etc. as the place is not well insulated make sure you rug up at all times.
