Hostels in Waikato, New Zealand

I spent a night at Adventure Taupō Hostel and I can say it's one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. The place is brand new, and it shows everywhere: everything is ultra-modern, spotless, and perfectly maintained. The welcome was excellent, with very friendly, smiling staff who were always ready to help. The kitchen is simply exceptional. It's probably the best-equipped backpacker kitchen I've ever seen: very clean, huge, with tons of storage space and all the necessary equipment. The common room is also very pleasant, perfect for meeting and chatting with other travelers. The rooms are modern and very well designed, with USB-C ports readily available for charging devices, a much-appreciated detail. Frankly, it's flawless. For the price, it's hard to beat. I 100% recommend this hostel to anyone passing through Taupō.

As far as hostels go this was the nicest. The beds are wooden and sturdy, not the thin metal frames that rock when someone is sleeping above you. The plugs are next to you same with a light and curtain. Staff were friendly and happy to give food recommendations on the area, they even had a binder you could look through for it. Kitchen was wide and easy to access/use. Bathrooms were clean. Location was like a 10-15 min walk to the water. Free parking on street.

A hostel with very friendly and welcoming staff. The room was ok, in line with the description and photos. They have large available kitchen for guests, and also room for chilling out. 20 minutes drive from parking where you can get bus at the start of Tongariro Alpine crossing hike.

stayed here because its essentially the only backpackers in hamilton.. The place really lacks privacy - there's no separation curtains on the beds in the room so feels very open, no separated bathroom- all in the same room, but at least the toilets have gendered signs on the doors.. would prefer more separation since the men's and women's are all next to eachother. Owner and/or cleaners would come into the rooms without knocking. My bed had the AC directly above it and it was kept on all night, quite drafty. Had a decent kitchen and community area, and good location though.

It's a 20-minute walk to the town center. As a youth hostel, it's above average and acceptable for just staying overnight. There's a super fat dog at the front desk, which is very funny and follows people around, adding a lot of fun

Stay in the lowest price room for toilet bath shared There is nothing amenities. There was a body soap from the shower room, so there would be only body soap. Because of the off-season, there were few customers and the common space was clean.

We had a wonderful stay at the hostel. The staff were very friendly and gave us a thorough introduction to the hostel, including its lovely animal residents, like baby lambs, deer, pig, and horse. A highlight of my stay was the chance to feed the baby lamb, which was a truly memorable experience! The facilities are basic, but everything is in good working order and covers the essentials. The bedding was clean, and they provided a clear wall guide on how to set it up, which was helpful and a nice touch. Overall, it was a cozy, enjoyable stay, and we would definitely recommend it to others!
