Hostel located in a good spot, with lots of food options and Old Town not too far away.
Downsides:
- Encountered multiple times when there’s no water while showering or using the tap which is very inconvenient. Not sure what’s the problem but it ought to be fixed
- WiFi connection was intermittent at times, sometimes losing connection

This guesthouse is centrally located in Phuket Old Town. The ground floor has a shopfront, with pearl necklaces sold in the front and the check-in area in the back. It has a very Chaoshan feel to it. The elderly owner, who I believe is also of Chinese descent, handled my check-in. The entire building is old, and the rooms are quite spacious, though some are oddly shaped. Since it has wooden floors and a loft, I wouldn't recommend it if you're concerned about soundproofing. However, I personally loved staying in this kind of environment; it felt like I was living in a movie. It's super convenient for getting anywhere in Phuket Old Town, and there are plenty of food options nearby. I really enjoyed it.

They serve free breakfast! The man behind the desk speak good English, the girl no to much but verry helpfull.
The bed was pretty hard although i had a good night sleep. I guess that is the standard for hostels in thailand

The environment is absolutely beautiful, and we really loved the modern decor. It felt brand new, and having a pool was a huge bonus!
The service was excellent. The front desk staff were so helpful, even assisting us with our luggage to the room. They also let us store our bags for quite a while after check-out, which was incredibly convenient.

Even if it ended with a nice gesture, the receptionist handing me a keychain gift (not sure if they do that with all guests), with a written request to leave 10/10 review, sadly I couldn't ignore the shortcomings of this hostel that seemed like just a downgraded version of Marco Polo Poshtel (not sure which one came first, but from breakfast to ”funny” wall messages, there was a similar ”creative” signature).
While I was initially attracted by reviews mentioning hostel's cleanliness, I couldn't say I shared the same opinion. Certain public areas were quite messy. The staircase to the first floor (where shoes are forbidden) didnt seem to be cleaned for some time. In the showers (which had a good water pressure), there was mold. None of the three handsoap dispensers in the only bathroom had soap in them. It just felt the staff doesnt have time or organizational skills to maintain everything in working order.
But I was mostly surprised by finding a not clean (i dont want to call it ”used”) bed cover in my bed. It had some fresh stains, hair and crumbles (well, not just on bed cover), and seemed just to be folded after the guest before me (even the folding seemed messed up, so i really thought maybe the bed was forgotten). When I asked the housekeeping to change it, they initially approved. The younger housekeeper started changing everything, sheet included (which i believe is a good way to do it, when it is not certain if the bed was completely changed), but when the older one returned, she made her put the sheet back (the sheet that was thrown on the floor in the meantime), laughing all along. No, that wasnt really funny.
Then instead of letting the young housekeeper put on the new bed cover she brought along, i noticed that the older one brought something that seemed to be the same old bed cover that i complained about (the duvet was already inside). When i asked if that is a new thing, she was convincing me it was. Already at that moment, i felt ridiculed. But i said, ”okay, if you say so.”
After all was done, i came back to my bed, unfolded the bed cover and confirmed my doubt - all this performance of changing the bed, without them changing anything! The only difference was that the bedsheet was also on the floor in the meantime.
This got me really frustrated, mostly because they lied to my face (what for?), and mostly because they invested energy in ”changing” everything while actually just stripping everything off and returning it (why? It takes the same amount of energy to do it for real). Feeling like an *****, i asked what seemed to be the problem? Dont they have clean bedding, or what? But they had. I asked them to give it to me then, and i would happily prepare the bed myself. Which they accepted. Lol.
I dont know, with that poor breakfast, the visual mess, unpleasant ”toilet” scent at hostel entrance, and generally low level of cleanliness (you can see how yellow the pillow is once you remove the pillow case yourself), it felt that other reviews mentioning spotless hygiene were misleading. Or were my standards too high?
In any case, i stayed in a dozen of Phuket hostels during my month here, but none of them tried to insult my intelligence. There are better places, and no, Dorm Hostel sadly doesnt deserve 10/10, to quote the request they tell everyone at check-out.
I also tried to leave them space for hostel improvement, so instead of lowest marks, i left average ones, even if the experience was truly below average.
P.S. When a guest asks whether a ferry with a pick-up operates everywhere in Phuket, a genuinely helpful answer would be ”yes”. And not ”no, it's only our hostel's pickup”. I understand everyone just tries to earn money, but it shouldn't be done by misleading guests who just trustfully ask for information.

********* the Burmese woman made the stay unpleasant and uncomfortable for myself and multiple other guests. @Owner, consider replacing this employee with a Thai person who has customer service skills. Promote someone in the group that comes in to cook breakfast and clean. Cleaning should be prioritized to a higher degree - the floors and bathrooms are cleaned once per day. There is black mold growing from standing water in the second floor bathroom. This place has potential to be great, but lack of management has it going downhill quick.

Great hostel, love the concept - Bearpacker incorporate theme from bear, so there's diff levels like panda, polar etc all bears.. even the faucet is bear shape (dang cute)
1. Staff is cool, Nong Saw Fay greeted me and was super nice
2. Location is 500-600m away from bangla street. No clubs near this hostel, hence very peaceful at night
3. Room is very clean with sizable locker, can fit my bag
4. Amenities on 4th or 5th floor is cool, with communal area, rooftop pool etc, just a place to chill
Short stay there, but it was memorable

The location is fantastic, just a 5-minute bike ride to the beach and a 5-minute bike ride to Patong's bar street, or you can even walk. Downstairs, there's a convenience store, laundry service, restaurants, and a pub – truly a great spot.
The room itself is also good. The sheets and duvet are changed daily by staff every morning, and the mattress is very thick. The room has a safety lock, and on the 4th floor, there's a fridge and microwave. Even the toilets in the communal bathroom are very clean.
I stayed for 5 nights and only encountered Europeans – not a single Chinese person (maybe all the Chinese people stay in villas). Everyone would say good morning, greet each other, and chat. The atmosphere was lovely.
The front desk is staffed late into the night, so they can help with any issues you have. There's a 500 deposit required.

After reading reviews calling it a ”budget gem,” I can confirm it's true! The room was spacious, bright, and spotlessly clean. What impressed me most were the details: the powerful hot shower, the highly effective air conditioning, and the genuinely warm and helpful staff. They not only helped book tours but also offered practical advice for avoiding tourist traps. Located on bustling Nanai Road, you have everything you need at your doorstep, yet you can still get a quiet night's sleep. If you believe your money should be spent on experiences, not just a place to sleep, this is the perfect choice.

22morrowsworldMy initial thought on this accommodation business is in some ways positive. If it is viewed purely as a 'hostel' with an associated coffee shop, then it definitely has attributes (and I'll come back to those later).
But if taken at face value on the basis of its tariff cost and amenities, both real and indicated, then there are several problems with it. The first is the way the premises is represented on the Trip com platform.
Photographs of the double bedroom include one of a bathroom. The attached text description and its context makes the plain implication that the room has an ensuite bathroom, which it does not. If little scrutiny is applied when reading the description, this fact will escape the readers attention. Anyone looking to make a reservation quickly can easily be misled (inadvertently?) into believing that this is a 'hotel' style room. Many hostels do offer rooms with ensuite bathrooms after all. The bathroom is communal and is inconveniently located on the ground floor. Rooms are above this.
A second related criticism is the room size description - 18 m sq is quoted. The room has dimensions of 3 x 3.5 m. That is, about 10 m sq !
Although late February is still peak season in Phuket, it has to be said that the room tariff of almost $60 AUD per night is exorbitant. It may be considered acceptable for a 18 m sq hotel style room, given the circumstances, but a room of this kind at this particular locality ought to be offered at a lower price. Having said this, I concede that the reservation was made late and in haste.
Now onto the good things. The 10 m sq double bed room has old but high quality wooden furniture which serves its purpose well. The air conditioning is responsive and strong
There is a large kitchen next to the bathroom/wash basin (trough). It's equipped with a large fridge, sink, cutlery etc as well as a coffee maker ( + ground coffee). A delicious banana cake was offered to guests. Clothes can be washed and dried via a coin operated machine.
Other attributes include the woman owner/ manager who has a professional approach and an attitude very well suited to the hospitalality jndustry. The coffee shop also makes decent coffees and ham n cheese croissants.
AAnonymous UserI stayed in the 4 bed mixed dorm for 2 nights on the upper deck near the door. And the overall stay is pleasant.
First of all. the iron rack itself is mounted in the wall. so there will be no shaky double decker and no noise when you climbing up and down. The space is kinda wide as well so you wont find yourself squeezing in a tiny bed. Aircon is well functioning but temperature is not controllable.
A towel will be provided for the stay, together with a puffy pillow and blanket. It comes with a spacious locker that can accomocadate a big luggage.
Entrance to the main door and your room door using card. like a hotel you will need to slide in the same card to the socket on the wall for electricity.
There is a tiny washroom in the room. shower space and toilet bowl seperated by a nylon curtain. Need to mention their toilet bowl is pretty silent when flushing which make the stay even peaceful.
While on the facilities, the common area pretty mucn looks the same in the photos. Beautiful and comfortable. However, the premise is built by a river, so there is quite some whiteflies(?) kind of insect flying around.
Simple breakfast including bread and jam, cookies, coffee, black tea, fruit of the day, soup of the day etc. will be provided every day. I enjoyed their pumkin soup and black tea very much. Just sitting by the pool enjoying the breakfast is very satisfiying.
The staff are welcoming and helpful. Communication in english is fluent. Do take note to inform the staff upon checkin if you preferred a down deck bed. no bed change allowed once you get you key.
The stay is not directly located in the center of the town. walking to the center takes around 10~ minutes. a small mall located right opposite the building. a few restaurant in the mall that smells pretty good. Tops daily is also available in the mall, and 711 is at 5 minutes walking distance.
Overall enjoyed the stay very much. Would consider to visit again.
* p/s: P1,2-photo of the bed from google. just a bad habbit not taking photo of my bed.
P3: Actual view taken at the pool.
P4: Some pic at the old town.
EEvgenii KolginIt's funny)) I didn't see a room like mine in anyone's photos. I didn't even have a bed, just a mattress on the floor, or rather two mattresses, since it was apparently a double room. But I was just off the plane and didn't care; I was glad I was alone. The staff was polite, they gave me earplugs, but I didn't use them; I couldn't hear the bar very well. In the morning, some guys were loudly packing up things in the hallway, constantly dropping things; there's no respect for them. The hotel is fine for an overnight stay.

XXNXNThe hostel has a very excellent location. All services are close to the hostel. The best is that the hostel worker is kind and has high morals. I recommend visiting this hostel and you will not regret it.
JJene JowGood cost effective stay, imagine a hostel with private rooms and bathrooms that provide all luxuries, amenities to be comfortable.
Only thing this place lacks is a lobby as the bottom floor is a cafe and the staff handle the ins and outs. Staffed from 9-5.
EEkaterina.TI really like that hostel and booked it for the second time. The place is the best, everything is really near. I lived in the room for 6. Beds are private, clean and comfortable
I have to notice: due to the air con timetable it may be really hot inside the room from 10 to 16, like 30+ degrees. Actually I'm ok with it, but for someone it can be difficult
The shower is good, there is hot water, it's clean and I haven't seen any insects at all. One bed is really near the toilet, but I had a different one
I also liked the kitchen, common balcony and pool zone. Noone actually uses it, but it's lovely to sit near
I only have one complain: phone is not working, I couldn't contact reception. Once I forgot my key (my bad, but) and had to wait 5 hours outside until someone comes. I think someone should be available on the phone for emergencies. I checked if the phone available the next day, but it wasn't
In general I love the place and would stay longer
Aalexmc13Overall, it was good. The location is nice, the hostel itself is a bargain, other than that, we had one accident with our room that required us to pay additional 1000 bath for a broken window, that has fallen by itself out of our room 🙂🙂
They’ve told us that we were in the room, so we’re responsible for it. Other than that, great service
overall be careful in thailand and always film for proof, not to get into accidents🌹
