This was my return visit to this hostel, and I must say I was dissppointed. Last time, on another platform, I gave it an 8/10 rating, but now I think I was too generous.
Besides smiling, but not good English-speaking staff (and smile doesnt always solve problems like an informed action), and affordable price, it was hard to find all those benefits I thought this hostel had.
Hot water dispenser wasnt working, but even cold drinking water wasnt accessible - i had to ask the staff 3 times for somebody to refill the machine. But the next morning empty again - there should be a system in place and not counting on guests for chasing down staff to fix it whenever the water tank is empty.
I say chasing as there is rarely someone at the reception. They might be cleaning the rooms (good luck in finding them), but frankly rooms werent that clean. Floors were praying for mopping, dust in the bathroom fan wanted to leave too... there was even a clearly visible stain on my bed sheet upon checking in, but the staff replaced the sheet immediately (they could have spotted it when they were making the bed the first time maybe?
Locker was not working, so the member of the staff had to use knife to make it work. The other storage place was also full of some crumble, i assume it is not on the cleaning list too often.
AC in the room didnt seem to work properly. There was always a feeling of the temperature being too cold, whether the tehermostat was fixed at 18 or 25 degrees Celsius, you were freezing even undet the blanket.
Privacy curtains are still transparent (?), and the doors of the room close loudly.
Shower was more of a drizzle - the water pressure did not meet basic requirements. In the first shower, it wasnt even warm. I entered the second one, where the heater was working better, but you could not shower with water practically just dripping on you.
All in all, there are other similarly priced hostels in Phuket that offer a better service.

Review of Boutique Guesthouse 99 Oldtown, Phuket
Boutique Guesthouse 99 Oldtown is a fantastic choice for travelers looking for affordable yet stylish accommodation in the heart of Phuket Old Town. The location is perfect - close to charming cafes, vibrant street art, and night markets, making it ideal for exploring the area.
The cleanliness of the property is impeccable, and the rooms offer amazing accommodation conditions with cozy, well-designed interiors. Considering the low price, it’s an incredible value for money.
One small downside is the 500 THB deposit required at check-in, which is refundable but worth noting. Additionally, the soundproofing could be better, as noise from the hallway or nearby rooms can sometimes be heard.
Despite these minor points, my stay was a great experience overall. If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, and budget-friendly stay in Phuket Old Town, this guesthouse is a wonderful option!

Overall, it was decent and worth the price. However, as soon as my friend walked in, they noticed a peculiar smell in the room, especially in the bathroom, where it was quite strong – like a foul odor, perhaps from the drain? This room also didn't get as much natural light compared to others. And it was incredibly noisy at night, the noisiest night I've experienced. There's a shop next door that was playing music late into the night. No wonder they provide earplugs; it was genuinely loud, both from the air conditioning and that shop next door.

My first time staying at a deck dorm style. The manager was willing to come, and did check in for me in the middle of the night. Do the 200 Baht refundable deposit. Give me the towel. Informed me to the rule of no sandal/shoes at 2nd floor to maintain the floor kept clean.
That is all you can see.
Nice room, chill, no noise in the room, and other ”I am sleeping” rules.
If you have an issue of not using sandals in the bathroom, then honestly you just need a hotel with a private room. Yeah, upper deck was scary. I dreamt of falling down 😪
Well, deck dorm style is not just for me. But a good experience here, and with 217 Baht (including tax) I paid, it is worth the money.
This hotel provides breakfast too. Something I don't really expect 😁😁
They also give me a key gift over a checkout. For sure, I get my 200 Baht back.

Htoo Htoo the Burmese woman made the stay unpleasant and uncomfortable for myself and multiple other guests. @Owner, consider replacing this employee with a Thai person who has customer service skills. Promote someone in the group that comes in to cook breakfast and clean. Cleaning should be prioritized to a higher degree - the floors and bathrooms are cleaned once per day. There is black mold growing from standing water in the second floor bathroom. This place has potential to be great, but lack of management has it going downhill quick.

Great hostel, love the concept - Bearpacker incorporate theme from bear, so there's diff levels like panda, polar etc all bears.. even the faucet is bear shape (dang cute)
1. Staff is cool, Nong Saw Fay greeted me and was super nice
2. Location is 500-600m away from bangla street. No clubs near this hostel, hence very peaceful at night
3. Room is very clean with sizable locker, can fit my bag
4. Amenities on 4th or 5th floor is cool, with communal area, rooftop pool etc, just a place to chill
Short stay there, but it was memorable

Traveling with family, we stayed here for three nights. The family room was very spacious. Even with an extra mattress for our child, we had plenty of room. What surprised me most was the vibrant local atmosphere—it felt like we were truly immersed in the community. Our kids loved the fruit stalls and ice cream shops right outside. The beach is about a 15-minute walk; we usually took a tuk-tuk during the day. The front desk communicated easily in our language and helped arrange tours and taxis. For families seeking practicality and great value, this is a fantastic choice.
Very Good

22morrowsworldMy initial thought on this accommodation business is in some ways positive. If it is viewed purely as a 'hostel' with an associated coffee shop, then it definitely has attributes (and I'll come back to those later).
But if taken at face value on the basis of its tariff cost and amenities, both real and indicated, then there are several problems with it. The first is the way the premises is represented on the Trip com platform.
Photographs of the double bedroom include one of a bathroom. The attached text description and its context makes the plain implication that the room has an ensuite bathroom, which it does not. If little scrutiny is applied when reading the description, this fact will escape the readers attention. Anyone looking to make a reservation quickly can easily be misled (inadvertently?) into believing that this is a 'hotel' style room. Many hostels do offer rooms with ensuite bathrooms after all. The bathroom is communal and is inconveniently located on the ground floor. Rooms are above this.
A second related criticism is the room size description - 18 m sq is quoted. The room has dimensions of 3 x 3.5 m. That is, about 10 m sq !
Although late February is still peak season in Phuket, it has to be said that the room tariff of almost $60 AUD per night is exorbitant. It may be considered acceptable for a 18 m sq hotel style room, given the circumstances, but a room of this kind at this particular locality ought to be offered at a lower price. Having said this, I concede that the reservation was made late and in haste.
Now onto the good things. The 10 m sq double bed room has old but high quality wooden furniture which serves its purpose well. The air conditioning is responsive and strong
There is a large kitchen next to the bathroom/wash basin (trough). It's equipped with a large fridge, sink, cutlery etc as well as a coffee maker ( + ground coffee). A delicious banana cake was offered to guests. Clothes can be washed and dried via a coin operated machine.
Other attributes include the woman owner/ manager who has a professional approach and an attitude very well suited to the hospitalality jndustry. The coffee shop also makes decent coffees and ham n cheese croissants.
GGuest UserThis place is filled with amazing staff always helpful and with a smile on their face :) I like everything about this hostel. It was cozy and friendly with nice breakfast every morning.
The rooms are nice and the swimming pool a relaxing place to be. I am happy this is not a party hostel. Thank you so much I had a great stay at this place.
PPN_GlyanaGreat apartment, great location, everything matches the description! I gave the highest score for all review criteria!
There were some minor downsides, discussed below. These are more like recommendations to ensure the apartment's interior/design and location match the price and comfort level. Overall, we really liked it.
Suggestions for improvement:
1. There were three of us. The shower gel and shampoo weren't enough for us, as the apartment only provides a small tube for everyone.
This is a minor issue: we simply bought our own shampoo and shower gel at the store. However, they could consider providing adequate bathroom amenities (shampoo, shower gel, and conditioner) or allocating individual sets for each person based on the number of days they stay. This would ensure a comfortable stay and avoid guests having to worry about it upon arrival.
2. There was an occasional unpleasant draft from the sewer in the bathroom. We closed the sink and bathtub (the flush button) to minimize the exposure to unpleasant air. We may be in the middle of renovations, but I recommend checking this and addressing it (to avoid any discomfort during guests' stay).
3. Disposable slippers (again, for the comfort of guests).
Thank you!
เเที่ยวไหนต่อThe accommodation is about a 15-minute walk from Phuket Airport. There are several shared bathrooms for men and women, but the bedrooms are very crowded, making it noisy until 1 a.m. before it quiets down. If you like quiet, this might not be the place for you.

GGuest UserLocated between two bars, the door has the Sundiva logo on it to help guide you. I think most people who come to Sundiva have trouble finding it because of its small entrance, but it gets wider once you go inside. Great place overall!
GGuest UserThere is no smell in the room, and it feels very comfortable. The windows in the room are quite large, the ventilation effect is good, the lighting is also very good, and the whole room is very bright. After we sent the things back to our room, we ate some meals in the surrounding restaurants. At night, we went back to the apartment and took a hot bath. It was very comfortable. Hot water is provided throughout the day, no matter what time it takes to take a bath. Very adequate.
Aalexmc13Overall, it was good. The location is nice, the hostel itself is a bargain, other than that, we had one accident with our room that required us to pay additional 1000 bath for a broken window, that has fallen by itself out of our room 🙂🙂
They’ve told us that we were in the room, so we’re responsible for it. Other than that, great service
overall be careful in thailand and always film for proof, not to get into accidents🌹
