This was the cheapest dormitory inn around Austin. I had no choice but to stay, but at night I don't know if there is a live house building, but I couldn't sleep because it was annoying from 10 to 1 o'clock. After that, the location was in the center of Austin, so it was not so inconvenient. Overall it was not beautiful, but it was a dormitory within the acceptable range. I don't want to stay again if I want to stay again.
Highly recommended!

This hostel is more like a shared apartment than a traditional hostel. However, I was satisfied. The bathroom was clean and the amenities met the minimum requirements. Since it's so inexpensive, I would book it again, although ideally, you'd need a car to explore everything in this location. My roommates were locals, not tourists.

Amazing
GGuest UserHadn't stayed at The Kendall for several years, so was looking forward to this trip. This is an older, historic property so I knew what to expect. It was nice to see that the bar and restaurant were open. The renovation was done really well. The outdoor patio offered a very nice view. The room, however, was a disappointment. The gap around the door barely allowed the lock bolt to catch. It also allowed an awful lot of light in the room. The bed or the room tilted so the foot end of the bed was higher than the head end. The mattress, and I use the term loosely, felt as old as I am. Reminded me of the feather beds at my grandma's hose as it caused you to roll to the middle of the bed. The shower in the old claw foot tub sprayed water over the shower curtain onto a bookshelf that was hanging on the wall and soaked the few items we had placed there. Thankfully, the supply of towels in the room was enough to clean up the water on the floor. The large water bug didn't seem to mind the added moisture.
I really like this motel. I hope the owners will take the time to notice the little things that make staying at an older property enjoyable.
GGuest UserWe were looking for a safe, convenient spot to stay for one night while traveling cross country. Recently, my husband and I realized that we enjoy little roadside motels from the Route 66 heyday era. The Cactus Inn checked all the boxes! It was convenient to get to off of I-40. The location was quiet and felt safe. Our room was simply adorable - the “Oklahoma” room - and very clean. We booked through Expedia and received a great rate. Check-in was friendly and efficient. This is basic lodging, but fits the bill perfectly for a quick night’s stop. We would definitely stay here again!!! The only suggestion I would make is to have a way to separately lock the door from inside. The electronic lock on our door kept making a noise during the night like it was being unlocked - even though we were inside with the only guest key. My husband suggested that maybe the battery in the lock was going bad. It just scared us the first couple times until we realized what the noise was.
DDonald CLocation is across the highway from the local airport; we heard few planes. Recently renovated room was very clean. The first evening, we called the service desk about a malfunctioning A/C unit. A maintenance technician responded within five minutes; after unplugging it and plugging it back into the wall, it functioned well the remaining three days of our stay. Breakfast buffet area was spotless and included DIY Texas shaped waffles, toast, muffins, two cereals, coffee, and orange juice. Service desk replaced each of our two room key cards after they stopped opening the door.
