The Governor and Maui Mayor have emphasized that the rest of the island is still open for tourists to come and enjoy. Kihei has been unaffected. Vacationers are welcome to come and enjoy the South/Central and East part of the island that still has many spectacular places and fun things Maui has to offer. Governor Green has been on national TV recently advising that the best thing interested people can do to help the island recover is to come and vacation here and support our local businesses. Now after a year since the tragic fire, Lahaina has been cleared of the fire debris and the first homes are being rebuilt. New housing projects are underway and the fire victims are beginning to move in.The studio is located in The Island Surf Condominium and is zoned as Condo/Hotel and as such is NOT subject to any of the efforts to convert short term vacation rentals to long term rentals.
