Hostal San Ginés

It is really a Gem Hidden in Arrecife. It is spotless: everything is super clean: room and the bath in common. Room was enough bid for me and the matress was super comfy. 5 minutes walking from the Fantastic Arrecife Pueblo. Check in super smooth and at night there was somone attanding at the desk. Unfortunately the room next to my was a bit too noise, but overhall it is the perfect budet hotel in Lanzarote.

We chose online for short break just to rest and eat breakfast. We knew about shared kitchen. Internet mentioned fridge, none in kitchen or room, cups chipped. Room had folding table, basic stool and chair shabby, no toilet paper, pillows tiny. Room fairly clean, but like a homeless hostel. 4:30 a.m awoken by man shouting and banging then 8:30 woman talking loudly. Cleaner's blocked corridor with bedding, trip hazard and fire hazard.

I stayed here for 6 nights in February 2023. Normally I would prefer my own place but they are at a premium in Arrecife and there is no way I would stay in a soulless purpose built resort. The main reason I chose this place apart from the location was the fact that the rooms have fridges. It's not a five star hotel but for what you get the facilities are pretty good. The staff are lovely and the rooms well appointed with comfy beds, a well appointed bathroom and of course the fridge. The pictures also showed a kettle but this was missing but they said it was fine to take a small one from the communal kitchen. The kitchen too is well appointed with everything you need to cook and prepare meals and there are several supermarkets close by as well as ATM's. The location actually is brilliant - a few minutes from the lagoon and the shopping area, 10 minutes from the bus station and maybe half an hour to the beach. The terrace is lovely for relaxing and reading. The only problem really was the fact that the walls are so thin - some of those who stay here seem to be long term residents and the couple next door made an awful racket getting up in the morning with music blaring our and doors slamming. You can hear almost everyone in the corridors. I left after 6 days and went to La Graciosa for the weekend and then spent one night in a room without its own bathroom which was much quieter and had a small balcony. In some ways this was better although I do prefer my own bathroom. All in though it's a good place to stay for those on a budget.

Very good location. Bed and room clean. Bed had firm mattress but it was larger than the base !! This is a hostel so it is a budget stay but compared to other hostels nearby it is very tired. The laminate floor in our room has experienced water damage and needs immediate attention. The shower control was loose and coming away from the wall. Our aircon did not work and the gentleman on duty could not fix it. I found it very noisy but won’t be a problem if you don’t mind listening to : your neighbour have a long wee during the night.. exclaiming loudly they have reached the height of satisfaction. Or simply clearing the chesty mucus from their lungs first thing in the morning. To be honest it’s budget.

The room was very basic but comfortable with a nice bathroom. The bed was ok. The biggest disadvantage is that you can hear everything what is going outside of your room. The biggest advantage – it is located just next to the city center, port and the beach. You can also reach the bus station within 20 minutes walk. For a quick stay yes, for longer rather try to find something else.
