Situated in the Pigeon Point area of Beaufort close to the historic downtown, Chateau Petite Cottage aka Pigeon Nest Cottage is a small place with a lot of heart. The cottage is nestled among ancient Live Oak trees draped with Spanish moss, across the road from the Beaufort River. It offers our guests: a kitchenette (microwave oven, sink, refrigerator, coffee pot, toaster, 2 burner portable stove, and dishes,pots n' pans); coffee and breakfast bars for your first morning here, a bathroom with a shower and bath towels (including beach towels) beach chairs, and boogie boards are in shed... Bedroom/day room with a very comfortable daybed, that can either be used as 2 twins or a king size ; an HD flat-screen TV with cable channels; WIFI access; a bistro table with 2 chairs; in addition, you'll have access to a front-loading washer and dryer. Outside, the cottage offers a large yard surrounded by a white picket fence ....as well as a private screened gazebo for guests .and a separate patio seating area with a table and chairs for relaxing and enjoying the flowers .. A whimsical flower garden is in a continual process of "being complete."In February of 2015 Diane's younger sister Bonnie passed away, and it spurred the idea of a memory garden for her.... a meandering path, graced with ferns, roses, daisies, hydrangeas, misc pretty flowers, as well as a precious pink flowered bush called "little Bonnie" have all been planted with love. Hilton Head is just beyond with Charleston and Savannah all an easy days’ sail.If you'd rather spend the day lounging on a secluded beach or walking the sand looking for shells and driftwood, Hunting Island Park is just a short drive away. The hiking here is like no other as you wander through the many trails that feel like you are in a tropical, prehistoric fairyland. We've provided a year round pass for your use which gives access to the park free of charge (one carload). Downtown Beaufort and Port Royal have everything you could want if you do decide to venture off the water. Find phenomenal food, drinks, shopping, and lazy park swings at the waterfront. The surrounding area is kid-friendly with a number of parks just a few minutes’ drive. Entrances to the Spanish Moss Trail are only a few minutes from the house as well. And not to be missed is the Port Royal Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings (9am-12noon) where you can find a fantastic assortment of fresh, seasonal produce along with local coffee, sweet tea, baked goods, fresh pasta and so much more! The entire Beaufort/Port Royal area is rich in history having been influenced first by the Spaniards, then the French and finally the English. It was built in the late 1800s after the recent "unpleasantness". This cottage is so cheerful and has such a sweet spirit, a bad mood will disappear very quickly. Lovely views are all around.Bonny Cottage has one bedroom with a comfy queen bed and a large bathroom with a shower, a full kitchen and laundry room. It stands alone and has a pleasant patio outside for early morning coffee and late afternoon wine and cheese. Children under 12 are not allowed. Walk everywhere, even to the post office. Wren’s Nest has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with a full bed. In between the two bedrooms, there is a shared full bath. The unit has hardwood floors throughout and a fully fitted kitchen. Relax on the porch or furnished patio surrounded by 100 year old oak trees draped with Spanish moss, lovely gardens and historic homes. The sound of the church bells of nearby St Helena Church, one of the oldest continual working churches in the country, will take you back into the 18th century.This carriage house with separate upper and lower units was recently brought back to life after many years of neglect. It truly is the best location in Beaufort, near the Anchorage House, Beaufort Inn and Rhett House, Beaufort’s most popular wedding venues. From here It is an easy drive to Paris Island, the Sands beach in Port Royal and Hunting beach on the ocean.Linens are included.
