Very easy to get around by metro Very safe area Staff Front desk staff are all very friendly Room Clean Spacious Modern Comfortable beds with modern bathroom Restaurant On-site restaurant has nice ambiance and tasty food The Viking River Cruise uses this hotel for their guests. The location of the hotel is good, next to the European train station SBB, it is very convenient to travel by taxi and public transportation. The biggest problem is that there is no air-conditioning. It is only the beginning of June, and the outdoor temperature is as high as 28 degrees at noon. There is no air-conditioning indoors, and the sunlight is direct (European latitude is high, and the sun's slope is not large in summer), and the indoor temperature is as high as 34-36 degrees! I couldn't sleep at all. I asked the front desk and said that the temperature is relatively low at night and it will cool down. The room is not ventilated and it won't cool down at all! Only a small electric fan is provided, and I have no sleep all night! When booking a hotel in Europe, you must ask whether there is air conditioning. 80% of hotels in Europe do not have air conditioning, which is unbearable in summer! This is still a European four-star hotel!

It is an apartment hotel with kitchen and kitchen utensils and spacious rooms. It is a 5-minute walk from the bus station and supermarket, and transportation and life are very convenient. In addition, the hotel has a laundry room and I am generally satisfied with my stay for a week.

This hotel was a wonderful breath of fresh air to close out our 10 day Europe trip. We chose it because of the proximity to the train station (across the street) and the trams (across the street), but unexpectedly I am glad I did for the pick up for bus #50 to the Europort at 4:30 in the morning, which picks up right in front of the hotel. I was looking for a car service which would have cost over 200CHF but instead grabbed this bus for free with the free Basel transportation pass that the hotel gave me and my family. Let’s be honest, we talk about European, or really any large city hotels as “charming” or “boutique” and really what we mean is “small”. I know we are out and about sightseeing so a “hotel room is really just for sleeping” but, at least for me, coming back to a small room and small bathroom at the end of a long day really stinks. This hotel does it right! Fantastic and efficient check-in. This was where we got directions for bus 50 which saved me a lot of anxiety and money. The hotel is just roomy all around. Wide stairs and a large elevator. Our room was huge, not just for Europe, but for any hotel. A really large, two sink bathroom. The bed was extra comfy and (thank you!!) the air conditioning was top notch. I have never sweated so much as I did the week before my arrival to the Schweizerhof Basel. And on the second floor they have a fridge with as much still and sparkling water as you can drink. Such a savior on a really hot day. It’s a short walk to old town and the hotel is locating in a bustling area of the city, but an oasis of calm once you walk inside. I absolutely loved this hotel and would highly recommend to anyone. Outstanding value for the money and the location can’t be beat.

Hotel is conveniently located less than five minutes’ walk (with luggage) from Basel SBB. We were greeted by a genuinely friendly receptionist, who informed us that we had been upgraded. Well, we arrived at the “room,” which turned out to be a suite with dining/conference area, two bathrooms, a soaking tub, and a panaromic view of the Basel skyline. The dining/living area and bedroom were separate, each with individually controlled A/C. The weather was actually very cool and pleasant for late June, so the A/C was sufficient. That said, if it had been hotter, I’m not sure if the A/C in the bedroom would have quite enough for me, but I’m an extremely picky customer when it comes to air conditioning. In general, Switzerland is a tough place if you need your room at 19 Celcius/69 Farenheit. The living room, though, was able to get very cold. The in-house dining and beverage options were fantastic. There’s a more formal restaurant on the mezzanine above the lobby, where I enjoyed a great meal that worked around my dietary restrictions. Downstairs, there’s a patio restaurant/cafe, and a stylish indoor bar with a midcentury Milanese aesthetic. Honestly, I was surprised it wasn’t busier, but that might have been because we were staying midweek, right after Art Basel. Overall, I very highly recommend. Probably best suited to business travel, but it didn’t feel impersonal, or lacking in personality or style. On the contrary, it was comfortable and contemporary, with a few modernist touches that elevated the look and feel of the property.

Beautifully maintained and actually 5 * worthy hotel! Rooms are spacious and beds sleep wonderfully. The only downside is the bathroom where you have to shower in the bathtub with a very small shower head and the toilet right behind the shower door. For the rest: - the staff is top notch, breakfast is complete and extensive - the gym and spa is wonderful and the swimming pool is wonderfully large

Meeting in the convention center, the nearby hotel is more expensive than the hotel in the center of the old city, and I decided to live in this one which takes twenty minutes to walk to the venue, it turns out to be very wise. The free bus card given by the hotel has a direct tram to the venue every day out of the alley, which is really convenient. The whole journey takes less than ten minutes. Surrounded by restaurants and shops, chocolate shops and coffee shops have various options. One hundred meters away from the hotel, there is the University of Basel Drug Museum, which is estimated to be the most complete museum in Europe and the world to preserve the history of the development of western medicine. . The room was clean, the single room was just right for one person, the shampoo worked well, no toothbrush and toothpaste, slippers, no hot water, two bottles of mineral water, aerated and non-aerated. I went to the restaurant on the first floor (good business at night) and asked for hot water twice. The waiters were enthusiastic and embarrassed.

We had a deluxe room to the patio (lounge indoor) located. It was very quiet and beautifully equipped. Elktr. Jalousie, silent air conditioning, silent refrigerator with a wide range of drinks and snack filling. A huge comfortable shower in a bright, clean bathroom from glass to the high ceiling. ( With a white, airy light corner, which can be attracted to you, you could be concerned about more discretion. The whole hotel is beautiful and modernly furnished. Coffee is available in the rooms and in the foyer by Nespresso machines. The staff in the whole house is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was extensive with a lot of choice. For the selection there were delicious filter coffee and Nespresso on the machine.

We had a two day stay at this hotel on the way to Paris. This is a charming hotel with a historic facade but modern and renovated interior. We had the Queen room and whilst only 20 sq mtrs felt very spacious. Location is prefect for those with luggage and arriving by train as the station is across the road. We had a lovely view of the station and no noise could be heard with the windows closed. We often opened the windows to soak up the atmosphere of the trams and buskers and the hustle and bustle of the station. The old town is not far away and easily walkable but the hotel provides free public transport cards which makes it even easier to visit the city and surrounds. Some lovely old buildings and a marketplace to visit. We did not have breakfast at this hotel but there is a large supermarket next door where drinks, food, bakery items can be purchased. The bar/ restaurant downstairs has inside and outside seating with the outside area great for watching people and the station happenings. If we return this would be our hotel of choice. Switzerland is a very expensive country so expect to pay a lot more for drink and food than you do at home. A block away is Markthalle an upmarket food court with cuisines from all over the world. We ate here both nights as the food was so good.
