We stayed at the Hotel El Palmeral, located on Benidorm's western beach, from October 6th to 8th, 2023. We arrived around 5 p.m., checked in, and paid 50% of the agreed price, as the other 50% had been charged five days earlier. The room appeared clean, but the furniture and bathroom fixtures were very old, the bed sank completely, was not firm, and was very uncomfortable. There was only one nightstand for two beds, and there was no minibar. Once we settled in, we walked around and went down to dinner around 8:30 p.m. It was a buffet. The food didn't look bad, but some dishes were truly disgusting, like the vegetable tempura and the mushroom scramble. The rest of the food was average and tasteless. The only thing worthwhile were the salads, as they aren't cooked. We thought, well, it's a 3-star hotel and you probably can't ask for much more. The next morning (10/07/2023) we went to the restaurant at 8:30 for breakfast and it was better, there wasn't much variety, but enough for breakfast. In this case, everything we had was acceptable, except for the coffee and the coffee with milk, which could be improved. The treatment we received from the restaurant staff was correct. Once we finished breakfast, we went up to the room around 9:15 to put on our swimsuits to go down to the beach. At 9:30, we left the room so they could make the beds and clean it. We were at the beach until 11:30. When we went back to the hotel, we went to the pool bar to have some soft drinks until 12:30, when my wife went up to change, I stayed until 1:00 p.m. At that time, the room was neither made nor cleaned, and we thought it was strange that it hadn't been made up in three hours after the room had been empty. While we were changing into dry clothes, we put up the "do not disturb" sign, which we took down when we left, and around 1:30 p.m. we went into the hotel restaurant to eat. In other words, the "do not disturb" sign was up for only one hour during the entire morning. In short, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the "do not disturb" sign was up for one hour, so the hotel's cleaning staff had four hours to clean and tidy the room. An hour and a half later, around 3:00 p.m., we returned to the room after eating and drinking coffee in the hotel's outdoor areas, thinking the room would be tidy, but to our immense surprise, it still hadn't been made up, so we decided to take a nap. (Another hour and a half more that the cleaning services had to be able to fix the room and this time with the sign asking for it to be fixed) At 4:00 pm we went down to reception quite surprised to see that the room had not been fixed nor had they contacted us in case we had any problem or to tell us why there had not been any.
