What a great stay we had! Beautiful hotel in stunning setting. Staff all friendly and room with a seaview! We had just one night here. Booked with travel zoo. The 2 course meal with lots of choices was very good. The only negative was we had booked table for 7pm and with no starters our food didn’t arrive until after 8pm. Tasty breakfast in room with sea view. Would certainly return!

Really nice hotel with very polite and friendly staff. We got a great price through Travelzoo in a very comfortable twin classic room with sea view. There were no drawers and limited hanging space in this room. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The cliff walk from the hotel doorstep superb. Bar staff offered fresh milk for our tea tray. A very lovely 2 night break.

I love searching for “hidden gem” hotels throughout Great Britain, and I certainly found one here! Believe it or not it is located a mere 200 yards or so from the A1, but you wouldn’t know! The drive down to the hotel was so tranquil, and once parked up, you were greeted by spectacular sea views! We had our doggies with us, and the reception they received from the staff was fabulous. All the staff came and fussed them, and immediately made us all so welcome. We had a Junior Suite, which again had fantastic views of the grounds. It was a lovely touch to have a fridge of complimentary drinks and snacks. The room was well presented, and the bathroom was so spacious, with an inviting bathtub overlooking the grounds! The public rooms are lovely, with a choice of where to dine, or have breakfast. We had dinner in the restaurant on both nights, and breakfast in the drawing room on both mornings. The cooked breakfast was outstanding. Dinner was nice, although I would recommend having the small plates as a starter, rather than the suggested starters. The wine list was compact, and offered a good choice. The staff throughout the hotel were always polite and friendly. Outside, you must walk the coastal path, it’s breathtaking! Overall a wonderful couple of days enjoyed by all!

Stayed at this hotel for a one-night deal with DBB via Travelzoo. The choice of any starter and main from the menu was fantastic value. The starters were like main courses! The ribeye steak was a supplement of £3 but clearly would have been much more at other hotels. The service was first class and every staff member polite and friendly. The Northumbrian breakfast was very well presented, piping hot and we had to skip lunch! The rooms have been recently refurbished and generally in good order. Small issue is the condensation on the windows probably due to leaking sealed glass panels but the rooms were nice and warm so did not become an issue. We added a £10 tip to the dinner bill when signing for extras. However, after check-out we noted that the item is showing as ‘miscellaneous’ which is then split into £8.33 VAT-base and £1.67 tax? This implies that we purchased an extra and that the funds might not be given to the staff. We believe tips are not subject to vat (unlike obligatory service charges) and the staff fund receives the full value. Perhaps the funds are placed fully in the tip funds of course and this is an administrative error, especially as the staff deserved the tips. If not an error, then perhaps the Management can check this out with their accountants as handing over too much VAT is not what any business should aspire to! I think in future, in all restaurants, we will just hand cash to the staff with an assumption that it is shared of course. Interesting topic generally.

A small hotel off the beaten track which means a nice and quiet location. A lovely coastal walk just outside the hotel takes you to Berwick or a 5 minute stroll the other way takes you to the border of Scotland. The hotel has a family run feel with the staff so friendly and obliging. We had a fantastic evening meal that was so tasty and worth the price. The breakfast was table service with a smile and local tasty produce. Will stop here again when up in the North East and would recommend it to everyone..

I can only assume we had the duff room in the hotel! It was clean enough but could have done with a good hoover. The bed was comfortable except for the ill fitting sheets which were completely ruckled up when opening the bed. Most rooms have a mirror with a light above in either the bedroom or bathroom but this was lacking, so was quite dark to do hair/ makeup. The main problem was the heating had broken so we were given an electric fan heater which was not a problem and we were assured the water would not be affected. However, the water was cold so we had to have cold showers! There was no mention of compensating for the inconvenience! One member of staff was extremely friendly and professional which made it a pleasant stay, despite another member of staff being quite abrupt especially when we mentioned the cold showers! The food was very good and well presented. Overall we had a pleasant stay but the heating situation was not well managed.

We stayed at Marshall Meadow for Valentines 25 and chose the Tasting menu with matching wines. The food was almost perfect and the wines exemplary. Service was also excellent. My only beef was that I emailed several times prior to the stay to enquire about menus for the evening and had to resort to a telephone call the day before to get this info. Clientel ranged from 20's couples to retired couples like us with one family group. We will doubtless return.

Had a fantastic stay we were all made so welcome especially our dog Tilly who had a lovely welcome pack in the room and sausages for breakfast! Our room was great as was the food, the staff were all wonderful and a special mention to the chef who sorted out a meal for my wife as she was on a diet (great work) which was greatly appreciated
