This was an excellent one night stay between two safari camps. If we had known the beauty of the place we would have stayed a second night. The owners , management and staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. The night of our arrival we were treated to sundowners and snacks at a candle lit fort dating back to 1680. The next morning we had a bird watch tour with Shabbir Khan , whose knowledge on bird life was amazing. I would recommend at least a 2 night stay

Our 2nd visit to this truly amazing location. It’s like home from home, the owners treat you like family. From stunning surroundings to wonderful trips out. Definitely recommend our guide Shabbir Khan for bird watching and jeep safari, he went above and beyond which made the experience all the more memorable. All the staff are great and the food tremendous. Will most definitely be returning. X

This is simply outstanding. 5 star luxury. Staff are extremely friendly, room was beautiful and very spacious. There are two villas suites in the grounds with outdoor shower and extra room with outdoor seating. These may cost a bit more but you will not be disappointed. Highlights of our stay included going to see the sunset from the roof of the old fort which is a 15 minuet jeep ride away, this is a must do activity. Also we had a jeep tour with Shabbir khan who took us to the local school, village and to see rural homes, it was a privilege to be invited to see real rural life and very humbling experience which will remember for a very long time. Shabbir was a brilliant local guide and made our trip so memorable. Once in a lifetime experience, a must to include on your India itinerary

From the moment we arrived at this fabulous authentic home/ hotel we felt relaxed. This was the perfect place to stay on our journey from Jaipur to Udaipur. An oasis from the bustle of India We stayed for two nights (one night would not have been enough). We did the village tour and the sunset sundowner at the fort, both activities I would highly recommend. We were encouraged by our host Maya to feel as if the hotel was our home. She was even able to find an unusual cable to charge our torch. Parikshit ( PK) was such a lovely ***, the perfect hotel manager. He was so kind and thoughtful. This is an hotel not to be missed

From the moment you arrive at this oasis of calm and are greeted by PK, the hotel manager, and by the owner, you feel you are at home. Shahpura is usually a stop-off point between Udaipur & Jaipur, both of which are busy & noisy, and so the peace & tranquility of Shahpura Bagh is such a treat. The rooms are beautiful, the staff kind, friendly and attentive and the food is excellent. Staff are recruited from the local district and trained in all areas of hospitality and this is indicative of the family’s commitment to supporting the local people. Included in your room rate are a number of trips & experiences. I highly recommend the village & farm tour which has so far been the highlight of our 3 weeks in India. No one is selling to you, no one wants money, they are just happy to welcome you. Genuinely the happiest, most friendly people I have ever met. We also walked into the local village/market which is really interesting & very safe. Everyone just wants to say ‘hello’! I had some shoes repaired for 50 rupees (50p) but we only had a 100 note so gave him that but he wouldn’t take it. He insisted on giving change. Shahpura Bagh is way more than a stopover, it is a ‘must’ when visiting Rajasthan in my opinion.

We stopped here for only 1 night and wish we could have stayed longer - this former summer palace has expansive grounds, loads of bird life, and beautifully appointed suites. The staff, especially our host PK, were so attentive and helpful, ensuring we were comfortable at all times. We really loved enjoying sundowner drinks at the old fort (which is about 12km away) and learning more about the local community and history. Dinner was served outdoors and they were flexible with my friend’s cilantro aversion. I had a refreshing dip in the beautiful pool in the afternoon. Everything was included in our rate except for drinks with dinner. There is a tip box for all staff instead of tipping individuals, which I always prefer.

When you stay at the hotel you get to enjoy a complimentary experience for each night of the stay. We have just returned from a morning trip of the market, local school and surrounding villages. The guide is Shabbir (apparently the only guide in Shahpura!) and he was excellent. We have travelled a lot and been on no end of city tours, tours of local markets etc but this was the best we’ve been on. Shabbir took us out for a tour of Shahpura itself and then to local villages where the people were genuinely the friendliest, happiest people we have ever encountered and seemed genuinely pleased that we had to come to visit them. Unlike other countries we have been to where we have visited local villages, there was no begging or any attempt to ask for gifts etc. Shabbir explained that despite appearances the villages are all successful and self sufficient. Shabbir is also the local naturalist and so could point out all sorts of birds and wildlife if you are interested in that sort of thing. Overall a fantastic morning and I would 100% recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel situated half way between Jaipur and Udaipur. The family have lived here for 19 generations and were gracious, welcoming hosts. An evening trip to their nearby hill-top fort for drinks and sunset was a highlight of our holiday in India.Their careful land-management and extensive lakes have established a bird-watchers paradise and we had a fascinating morning walk with their excellent, knowledgable naturalist.

We have had a most wonderful stay at the Shahpura Bagh. Everything here has been great; the room, food, service and activities. It was enjoyable for us to slow down for a day or so and catch up on some sleep. We had a an excellent naturalist guide, Shabbir Khan Who did a bird walk with us yesterday morning. He was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. He used multiple tools such as his camera, Bird book and personal knowledge in helping us locate an identify many species of birds that were new to us. The cooking class was a lot of fun and we enjoyed having lunch from it. The sundowner followed by the dinner at the fort was over the top. We’ve never felt more pampered or paid attention to in any activity we’ve done. The staff was great, and the owners were very delightful to talk to and paid great attention to us as well as the other guest. Do yourself a great favor and stay at this facility if you’re anywhere close. You won’t regret it.
