B48 Abando

We selected this hotel because of its location just across the river from the Old Town. The location is right next to the main train station and across the river from the local train station (from which trains run to Guernica and Bermeo). We took a risk since there were no reviews yet. It’s kind of a cross between what you experience in a budget hotel and an AirBnB. It was absolutely clean and comfortable, with all the basics provided. But there is no reception desk, generally no contact with staff. However, the online response was more than prompt; it was practically immediate! And every thing we asked for (information, extra pillows) was efficiently delivered. Our room included a kitchenette, table and chairs, space to unpack. Really, everything we needed. There was a washing machine in our room, and when Maria (our online contact) found out we wanted to use it, she delivered a drying rack to put our wet laundry on! It was a pleasant riverside stroll to the Guggenheim, There is also a tram with stops near the museum and the hotel. We had meals in some nearby restaurants as well as across the river in the old town. I would recommend this place without reservation.
