"The hotel is decent for a one night stay. Though I would describe the interiors of the room as pretty retro and dated in the 90s. The hotel staff are very warm and friendly, and the room is clean. It’s acceptable for a short stay. The hotel is only a stone throw away from Huis Ten Bosch’s entrance where you need to get your tickets. And you can return to the hotel via the back gate. There’s a Lawson near Huis Ten Bosch’s entrance as well. I would say it’s probably a 3 minutes walk. Carpark is available directly in front of the hotel, with charges at 1000¥ per night. There’re carpark wardens to guide you. Would return for a fuss free stay if I were to visit Huis Ten Bosch again."

"I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had in Japan. I booked a Run of House (ROH) room for my family. The booking description stated that room sizes range from 28 to 38 square meters. Based on that description, I reasonably expected that room assignments would be allocated fairly within that range. Upon check-in, I initially asked whether it would be possible to have a room facing Huis Ten Bosch. I fully understood when I was told that a park-facing room would require an additional charge, as such rooms are often sold at a premium. However, after entering the room, I realized that I had been assigned what appeared to be the smallest and least desirable room available. At that point, I was no longer asking for a park view. I simply asked whether it would be possible to have a slightly larger room, especially since the ROH description clearly stated that room sizes range from 28 to 38 square meters. What made the experience particularly frustrating was that I had already read reviews from other guests who booked the same ROH category and received significantly better rooms. One guest mentioned being assigned a park-view room after making a request, while another guest appeared to have received one of the hotel’s best room categories despite booking ROH. When I politely asked why other guests with the same booking category seemed to receive much better room assignments while I was given the smallest room available, the front desk was unable to provide a clear explanation. Instead, I was repeatedly told that any room change would require an upgrade fee. At one point, I was even told to contact the booking platform and ask the platform to pay for the room change. This response made very little sense. I was not asking for a free upgrade. I was simply asking for transparency and consistency regarding how ROH rooms are allocated. After a lengthy discussion, the hotel eventually moved us to a slightly larger room. However, the replacement room was located on the lowest floor, at the far end of the corridor, with a partially obstructed theme park view. While I appreciated the effort, it reinforced the impression that alternative rooms were available, yet no clear explanation was ever provided regarding the original room assignment. My disappointment is not that I did not receive the best room. I fully understand that ROH bookings do not guarantee upgrades. My concern is that the hotel advertises a room size range of 28–38 square meters, creating the expectation that room assignments may reasonably vary within that range. If ROH guests are always assigned the smallest and least desirable room available, even when larger rooms remain vacant, then the hotel should simply advertise the room as 28 square meters. That would allow guests to make an informed decision before booking. For families travelling with children, room size matters. Had the listing clearly indicated that ROH guests would receive a 28-square-meter room, I would likely have selected a different room category from the beginning. The hotel itself is in a convenient location and the facilities are generally good. However, the handling of this situation left a very negative impression. Based on this experience, I would strongly recommend booking a specific room category rather than ROH, so that expectations are clear from the outset."

"A pretty good hotel overall, but the hot spring management was a bit chaotic. There were a few ********* kids splashing around in the hot spring, which really ruined the experience. Other than that, the hotel was excellent, especially the value for money of the buffet, particularly dinner."

"The hotel is located right behind Huis Ten Bosch, and you can take a boat to Hotel Europe after 3 PM. Upon arriving at the hotel, the environment felt like a palace – very luxurious. In the evening, you can take a shuttle bus to the large public bath, which has indoor and outdoor hot springs and a sauna. Breakfast offers melon 👍 and red/white wine 👍."

"Though the design & deco are not the same as those newly built or opened, it's considered as classic since all hardware has been well maintained with no signs of running down. The restaurant provides good food and good value too. Room is clean & tidy. Staff very professional & helpful too. It suits guests who want the feeling of staying in a hotel when they were young."

"Great in value for families who are planning to go Huis Ten Bosch park. The room is spacious and have everything you need. There’s hotel shuttle runs every 20 min to bring you to the park. If you arrive after 7pm, call the hotel reception at the luggage reception (in car park 2), they will send car to come and fetch you. Great service!"

"If you wish to visit Huis Ten Bosch and stay there overnight, I would highly recommend this hotel. It is walking distance from the Huis Ten Bosch train station and to the theme park. You can arrive in the morning, store your luggage, enter the theme park and spend the whole day there before checking in at night. The room is spacious and clean for me. However, I would say that there are no walking distance convenience stores if you are feeling hungry at night and wish to have some food or snacks. I only stayed there for one night and for the price I paid, I am satisfied with my stay there."

Since we visited in June, the park wasn’t too crowded, so we didn't have to wait in lines for any attractions. The park is well-equipped with convenient amenities, including self-service laundry, a Lawson convenience store, a drugstore, car rental services, and even a pet hotel. Pro-Tip: Download the App I highly recommend downloading the official Huis Ten Bosch app. It provides helpful walking navigation around the park and a convenient schedule to keep track of various activities and events. Hotel Amsterdam Experience We stayed at Hotel Amsterdam, and I highly recommend staying at one of the park’s official hotels. The rooms are spacious, and a unique touch is the built-in water purifier, so there is no need to buy bottled water or head to the hotel lobby to refill. Additionally, you do not need to pay for a second-day park ticket, as the hotel provides them at check-in. Note that parking is 2,500 JPY per day, but staying at the park hotel allows you to offset this cost. Tips for Families and Extras Height Requirements: Be aware that many attractions require children to be at least 90cm or 100cm tall. This isn't clearly stated on the official website, though there is an indoor facility suitable for infants. Transportation: There is a shuttle bus, but it runs every 20–30 minutes. Onsen: There is a public bath (800 JPY/person) or a private family bath (2,700 JPY/hour, requires reservation). Activities: Some additional facilities, like the tricycle rentals, require an extra fee (3,000 JPY/hour). Overall, this was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend it for those looking for a relaxing and well-planned getaway!"

"The service was excellent, and the room was clean and tidy. The price was reasonable, and they even offered free udon noodles in the evening. The location is superb! I love Sasebo; it's a quiet little city with delicious hamburgers and BBQ."
