MarSenses Rosa del Mar Hotel & Spa

This is my 4th visit to Rosa del mar in 6 years. I have not been for around 3 years and wow what a change, for the worst. Upon arrival yesterday I was told by a rude receptionist that check in was 3om. I said I know this but she did not ring housekeeping to see when it would be finished. I had been up since 2am so was tired. The comfortable sunbeds gone, The orange juice machine gone, the small pool in the spa freezing. A hydrotherapy pool should be hot (it used to be) The restaurant, oh my, absolutely chaos, loud disorganised, and the food is horrible now and the plates are dirty. Not welcoming from staff at all.When booking this I asked for a quiet room as I have insomnia (I understand it's not guaranteed) but they gave me the most noisy room they could. Right next to the lift and stairs. Been here 1 night and no sleep. The reverence mere was coming up cheaper than here and I so wish I had booked it. If the GM would like to speak with me, I am happy too. I would be more than happy to go elsewhere. So disappointed.

Great location, spacious room, excellent service, very friendly staff. Close to amenities and seaside. Perfect location. Great quality food. All good .

First things first, i’m no Karen, i usually give great reviews on this hotel but i was so disappointed at how much this hotel has changed. I don’t complain very often but I’m afraid i can’t keep this experience to myself. Some will say they had the time of their life but i find that’s usually people with small children. After coming to the Rosa del mar over the past 5 years i thought this was the best hotel in Palma Nova. Unfortunately not now, certainly not worth the 4 stars anymore. The service has went right down hill, on arrival we couldn’t get into our rooms until 3pm something that we didn’t experience in the past, we always got in early. However we went to the snack bar whilst we waited. I ordered a Margarita pizza which wasn’t a pizza it was a rock solid flat bread. My jaw actually hurt eating it. The reusable cups have shrunk they use to be bigger. So this was just for starters. We got into our rooms at 3pm which was a Junior suite with pool view, sounds amazing, right! Wrong! It was very noisy from the music at the poolside all day when you came outside our room door onto the corridor we were right above the reception area, extremely noisy in the evening. They now charge €2.50 per day for the hire of the safe plus a €10 refundable deposit. So first day i decided to have a bath, very narrow and once finished i couldn’t get the plug out had to prize up with a knife to let the water out. Rooms are newly refurbished which are lovely, but they don’t provide milk for a cup of tea to get you started. They have a big glass panel on the wall between room and bathroom next to bed so if you have to get up to loo during the night the light in bathroom shines straight through to sleeping area. Not ideal for the other person who’s sleeping. They have lamps dangling from ceiling on each side of bed which you keep bumping your head on as they’re so low if you bend down to plug something in. Restaurant food… got very boring after day 3 same old same old even that has been scaled way back use to be a lot more choice, they’ve changed the seating too use to be more seats i feel they’ve taken a whole section out that use to be at side of wall. You have to pay for all drinks at evening meals including water. Nothing is free at dinner time. Plate/bowls were disgusting, lots of dirty ones i did say to staff members but they weren’t interested. Chipped glasses, kids going up to buffet using hands to pick up fruit etc. I even saw a member of staff clean up something from the floor then immediately re position the tongs and spoons at the buffet with the same hand without washing them first. Absolutely disgusting, first rule in food hygiene always wash your hands to avoid cross contamination. Breakfast, same every day, scaled back eggs were always green inside but you did get free fruit juice and tea and coffee. Spa.. what a let down, this was the reason we loved coming here but not anymore, the spa pool was freezing although they insisted it was 28ċ the jacuzz

Compared to other years I have been at this hotel, a very poor downgrade which is very disappointing. Far too long a wait time for drinks during the dinner periods, children are allowed in the spa now (weren’t before) between 10am-12pm, but apparently they have been let in regardless of the time. Food is disappointing and poor selection. Reception did not mention anything about the inside pool and spa on arrival, and false advertising on website saying you have to ‘pre-book’ the sauna and steam rooms, which you don’t. Very poor overall, will not be returning back to this hotel unfortunately, big let down.

Good little hotel, plenty on entertainment, the staff are all friendly and happy to help, Robert at the bar was really friendly and the reception staff couldn't help more, great location good mix of food just seems to be cold would be the only issue

The food and drinks were excellent, and the location and atmosphere of the hotel were just perfect. What stood out the most was the proactive, kind and helpful staff. I highly recommend it and will definitely come back! Thank you so much!!!!
