I wasn't positively surprised by the hotel. Not sure how it is four stars, I think three stars would be a push. The hotel consists of two buildings connected by a bridge. Both of the buildings use the two elevators that lead to the restaurant. Because of that there are huge queues every meal, a lot of the people just give up and use the stairs instead. Where the pool and the restaurant is, there are two toilets for the ladies that had seen better days. The restaurant was mostly overcrowded. The empty tables were dirty, and we were told that one of us should sit on the dirty table and wait for someone to clean it before taking any food. Taking food together haven't been problem anywhere else. The food itself was repetitive, the fish was nice, but the meat was quite dry and chewy. The desserts were almost the same for the whole week. People weren't allowed to pour beer by themselves so we had to find a waiter and ask for beer anytime we wanted one (which sometimes took long time). The entertainment team was amazing, but the night program wasn't most interesting one. The hotel is 30mins by walk from a town, and there is nothing interesting closer to it. The beach next to the hotel is small and is sand over cement, at some places there is less than 5cm sand over the cement so it feels like you are laying on a cement. The hotel has quite small pool which was surprisingly cold. The pool and most of the sunbeds were in shade for most of the day, the small amount of sunbeds on sun were taken early morning by people putting towels on them. The room was looking nice and clean. However the bathroom doos wasn't closing well and where wasbig gap where the hinges are, so there was no privacy in it. The rooms were not well isolated, so you could clearly hear people talking in the corridors, closing their doors, and some noise from people talking in the rooms next to yours. The bed was huge, but unfortunately uncomfortable for both me and my partner. Overall we were both disappointed by the hotel, and wouldn't recommend it or stay there again.

On our last day at this fantastic hotel. Start with minor niggles: Food needs to be couple degrees warmer. More rubbish bins needed. More tables and chairs needed out in the sun( although as it’s October and they close on the 21st that may be the reason). Really enjoyed our time here at the occidental. It’s location is fantastic, overlooking the beautiful bay with its clear water. The hotel isn’t massive but big enough. The cleaner’s do a marvellous job, the hotel is spotlessly clean. Rooms cleaned every day and done very well to. The food is of a high standard, you will always find something to suit your taste. The main courses I think change every night over the week. The desserts are delicious along with the ice cream. It’s very difficult to stop yourself going up for thirds!!!! The restaurant is also very clean. Not overly busy at time of writing. As always in Spain bar staff are generous with their measures and most have a smile on their face. And to the entertainment team with the talented Carlos Santana … Meeeooow (that’s he’s real name) as leader. They put on some fantastic shows throughout the week, with a couple of great outside acts as well. They encourage you to take part in their own shows and if they can get you up to take part and not themselves then they will. Some people have wrote that they don’t like their banter or maybe being singled out. I say to them if you don’t like it…. Don’t go!!! They are paid to entertain and that they do. Carlos does an absolutely fantastic Michael Jackson tribute act…. Awesome! Another one who unfortunately don’t know his name is funny as hell as Tina Turner. But they are all fantastic entertainers. This is a brilliant hotel that we found at the last minute at a good price, really glad we did. We almost went to rainy algarve This place is also fantastic for kids.

The hotel is in a perfect location for a relaxing holiday. We arrived completely shattered from a 3hr transfer [thank you Easyjet and other airlines that make you wait for other flights to land so they can fill the coach] that should have been 40 minutes .It actually took an hour longer to get from Palma airport to the hotel than it did to fly from Luton to Majorca ! Dropped off the cases in our room and went straight to the restaurant. The restaurant is lovely. No problem getting a table and a good choice of foods for all tastes. Only fault here is that the food, though constantly replenished was;nt hot enough for me. Also not all the food is clearly labelled as to what it is. Our room was in block 3 overlooking the pool and the bay and a lovely view it was. Again the only problem for us was that it was right overlooking the daytime entertainment and was very noisy in the evening / night entertainment. We simply adjusted our bedtime to suit as it all stops at midnight sharp. So not a big problem really. We spent lots of time round the pool enjoying the drinks and snacks whenever we liked. Had fun every morning watching the people who save the sunbeds. Same people. Same beds every morning then off they go for breakfast and disappear for most of the morning while still having a sunbed reserved for when they bother to return. Bloody annoying but there are plenty of available beds. The hotel is kept very clean indeed. The rooms cleaned every day and towels replaced as required. The bay is down a little path and you are there on the beach and off you go. The water is beautifully clear and there are plenty of fish out there to watch when you snorkel. For me, it was perfect. You do need to go out to chest height before the water clears enough to see any distance. The hotel entertainment team are incredibly hard working from 10am right through to midnight. Always nice and polite, trying to get you to join in but never pushy. We attempted Archery and Petank. Wer'nt very good at either but had a laugh. There isn't very much at all outside of the hotel. A small supermarket 100 yards from the entrance [the hotel has its own small one too.] On the other side of the bay there are some steep steps that bring you out to a couple of bars and supermarkets. Also if you want to walk to Magaluf then at the top of those steps turn right and that is the way to walk. The hotel are willing to ring a taxi for you it was 7 Euros to Magaluf and 6 to return. Our ride there was nice and gentle but we had sir Lewis of Hamilton as out return driver. "Interesting" !! Would we stay here again ? Yes because of the hotel and the bay but No because there were no places to just go for a nice long walk without having to go up and down some very steep hills.

Coach transfer from airport took about an hr and that was with 5 drops so not bad considering. Me and my wife got there just after 2pm and receptionist was very pleasant, and explained everything we needed to know !! As well as the room wasn't ready till 3pm !! . There's 3 blocks to this establishment block 1 is where you come in to reception , there's the children's pool next to the chilled pool with a bar , this is situated to the left of reception. First criticism is no snack bar at this location? But there is a payable vending machine with drinks and nic nacs !!!! The main block is block 3 .there you'll find the restaurant on the ground floor with the pool and bar & snack bar . The pool bar opens at 10am and snack bar at 11am .you can help.your self to the snacks .hot drinks and soft drinks in there, everything else you have to go to the bar and only 2 drinks per person ar allowed . We stayed all inclusive, and I've read on previous reviews that you get what you pay for !!!! I personally think this hotel was a let down and not value for money . The restaurant being the biggest disappointment for both of us . We just think the layout is far too small for this hotel, also the quality of food was abysmal, we do however take our hats off to the staff who work effortlessly, but they simply cannot cope with the amount of customers using it . To us tables were not cleared away and resetting quickly enough .not just us but most people were setting there own tables. The food area was just too small , constantly running out of dishes and not quick enough to replace it . No kids corner ie , pizza .chicken nuggets . Spaghetti bol etc. Yes there's the usual salad stuff and usual hotel food . But the main food like the meat and fish I found very disappointed. This does need looking at . We always stay in 4 star hotels and this has to be one of the biggest letdown in the restaurant. Another issue is if your by the pool at block 1 with your kids and want snacks you'd have to cross a bridge down some steps to the lifts and down 4 floors !!!!! You would think the top bar would do snacks too . The rooms are spacious enough , with very comfortable beds . Al drinks are OK cruzcampo larger not nice . But the premium drinks are very cheap . You can walk to magaluf in 25mins . Go out where the beach is towards opposite hotel up the 100steps (lol) once you there turn right and just stay on the right side all the way down till you reach the melia hotel , again stay right and go down the steps to magaluf beach . Almost forgot, see pics for breakfast, the sunbathing area too you need to go down bottom area for beds if you want sun all day . Yes there's people up early putting towels out .we went down at 930am first morning not one lounger was available. But other days not as busy .pot luck I guess . Like the headline says not for us and very disappointed with restaurant. But have no complaints about all the staff they all do a fantastic job .

Stay away, no way a 4 star, I was supposed to stay 4 nights for a relaxing break, I arrived Monday at 8pm and was absolutely disgusted, the shower was full of long black hair, I went to reception who did not apologise just said I will send a cleaner. I bumped into the cleaner on return to my room and she gave me a filthy look. There was a screw sticking out of the floor in my room also covered in hairs. I also found a bug in the bathroom behind the bin and the floor was filthy. The food was very poor choice, chips were cold and rubbery, wallpaper was peeling of the restaurant walls there was dirt on the steps in the restaurant. I ended up staying in this hotel 8 hours as I booked a flight home. The staff did not care, no apology at all. Don’t waste your money.

The hotel is perfect for a fly and flop trip. The location is just perfect for us. We checked in and didn't leave as we were all inclusive and only there for 4 days. The hotel is tired in some areas and a very big complex. We stayed at the main pool which was also right beside a beautiful beach. The entertainment team work very hard but don't force you to join in either which is good. The food was actually very good. We ate very well 3 times a day. I wouldn't like to be there in busy times though. It was clean enough except when there was a bad sand storm. But that's not to be helped. The one issue we did have and def want it to be addressed. When we were checking out the receptionists were so rude. We were being picked up at 14.45 and we had been told at point of booking that this was counted as our last day. When we were leaving our cases we said we were going for lunch. They told us they had to check our booking and made us feel very uncomfortable. Then when we arrived at the restaurant the same happened. They questioned if we were allowed to ear with a queue of people watching on. So demeaning. I had another interaction before we left , asking for a bin to get rid of rubbish and I was glared at and told that behind a reception desk they didn't have a bin. Awful people .

Great hotel in a lovely location. I went with friends and it was good to sit by the pool, nip to the beach (literally feet away) or a short 25min walk to Magaluf if you want something a bit more busy. There is only one bar outside the hotel (The Shetland) which was lovely. Hotel was clean, staff super friendly and I thought the food was good. No need to pre-book taxis as there is a taxi rank at the airport with standard rates. During day light it’s approx €45 to the hotel. Pic of tariff attached. And the lovely receptionist called me one for the way back. Simples! I would recommend.
