Don't be misled by the name, it's just a B&B with no elevator or front desk. The only facilities in the house are two beds.

Horrific attitude at the door and it’s a complete dive. Avoid this place like the plague it’s sooo bad. It’s only got location but to be honest they don’t even want you there. The music is the same every week and you will be lucky if the doormen will let you in, which is hilarious when it’s completely empty. Owner called Omar hasn’t got a clue. Can’t wait for it to shut down

Absolute dive, place is filthy and noisy, cobwebs everywhere and windows boarded up with cardboard. When you collect the keys from the bar you think this place looks alright, don’t be fooled the rooms are terrible. Bed was like sleeping on a pavement, Avoid absolute dive

Based on reviews written last year, it’s a shame to know that managers of The Castle haven’t tried to rectified some of the causes for their bad reviews. There still isn’t a functional shower on the first floor, the locks on the doors are dodgy and the room decor is drab at best. To top it all off the noise is unmanageable if trying to get any sleep at all. It’s not worth the £90 we paid for one night and I don’t think rooms should be let out here because it really isn’t fit for purpose. Shame this happened to be my first visit to Cambridge because it has tainted my trip. I wouldn’t recommend staying here to anyone.

Night manager Steven refused me entry at hotel due to not having photo I'd which was never stated when booking for the night and also not needed when confirming with booking com..I had all relevant emails and booking confirmation with payment card but it seemed he got a kick out of letting me be out on the street late at night without a room. Came across aggressive and said id woke him up which is funny since the hotel had only emailed me 30 minutes before hand with his number asking to call him when arrived. Stood outside for nearly a hour without him answering it was only another guest who helped get the manager. Never again!

I stayed here yesterday evening and given it was the hottest night of the year to be told its was shared facilities I.e Shower and Toilet I would have been better off sleeping on a park bench. Room was sparse with bed and TV only. Lock on room door was difficult to lock and the curtains were not wide enough to cover the window. No air conditioning or fan provided and then was waken by the bin men at 4.30am whom collected all of the bottles for Weatherspoons, All Bar One and Revolution. Shared bathroom and shower facilities also featured a shower that had not been built. If you want to get a decent night's sleep don't book here and make the same mistake I did
