H10 Cambrils Playa

Rock hard beds, so will need a chiropractor upon return home. Food very very very bland and lacking quality and freshness. Same old, same old at breakfast and dinner. Alot of food waste due to the lack of taste or the fact that majority of food has no seasoning, is swimming with fat or is simply undercooked. I don't know how fried eggs can be served on a number of occasions undercooked and translucent in the white area - 😐 Not much going on outside the hotel and a bus is required to go anywhere. Animation fine but games repetitive. Shows aren't anything special.

Just returned, really nice hotel Good points Staff, friendly Food, good food, bit repetitive for breakfast, definitely should do fresh omelettes, a must for me, and just as easy as frying eggs in my opinion. Evening meal very nice, and the best ice cream ever. Rooms very clean, top tip, upgrade to a pool view, the other side of hotel the view is poor. Pool area is fantastic, clean, plenty of loungers ect, towels provided for a returnable deposit. Reception staff were faultless and efficient. Fantastic beach best I've seen is a four minute walk across the road, bit of advice, when you near the beach please take extra care to look out for the cyclists, there is plenty,, it's a massive cycle area. On the beach 2 loungers and a very good cover, better than brollies is 20 euro for the day, good value I thought. Top tip, little beach bars, a must to visit, tapas is fantastic, we went twice, nice staff and free public toilet facilities. I'm definitely returning, hotel is isolated, 20 mins walk to first pub. It's approximately 50 mins walk to cambrils and a good hours walk to salou. Buses run regularly, right outside hotel. The walks to both salou and cambrils are very flat, no hills at all, take ya time and enjoy the views.

Before I talk about the hotel, I want to give a huge shout out to the server Teresa, who works at the bar and is not only a cheerful personality but is extremely helpful. H10 Cambrils Playa are lucky to have her. Location wise, this is a great place right in-between Cambrils and Salou, so you can reach either one by walking 45 minutes. But the best thing is the bus stop right outside the pool gate (going either way). And there is a shop next door where you can buy snacks, drinks and most importantly bus passes. The place is spotlessly clean, the pool and pool area is a big size and the staff are pleasant and very friendly. The rooms are smaller than expected, especially because ours had 3 beds. There were two of us and we had booked a room with pool facing balcony. There was no tea kettle in the room either, which I found very strange, especially in a four star hotel. You can ask them for it but it took a day to arrive and then there was no convenient place to plug it. We had booked bread and breakfast and the breakfast was great too, except for the juice machine, which is always mediocre and the coffee machine was Nescafe with really bad coffee. A pity since you can find great coffee in Spain. We did have dinner one evening at the hotel buffet and for 23 Euros there was very little variety. I would give that a miss next time. But overall, the hotel is highly recommended for ambience, cleanliness, staff, pool area, and breakfast. If you don't mind a smallish room, then I guess that's fine too. 1)Overall, a really lovely hotel. The staff - cannot fault them (special thanks to Julia & Gonzalez)., as they are all friendly + helpful. Hotel has a unique room/hotel entry "key", which comes in handy when coming in back entrance from bus stop (stops outside from Tarragona or opposite side from Cambrils). Rooms are spacious - we had an accessible room 155 which (outside) had table, x4 chairs, 2 sun loungers, and a towel airer. 2)Hotel has a bar/lounge area with entertainment at night (not so good). Pool area - lots of sunbeds though., .. unless not visiting until June, the snack bar is closed (a bad point if wanting a lazy day at hotel. They must be loosing money here....) . 3)Food is not always that hot - many a morning my mum went for a cooked breakfast, and the bacon & sausages were cold. Other 'hot' food does not stay hot for long.; A point made by many other people. For a 4* star hotel, food could be alot better - queues often around different areas. 4) Finally, a thing J2 or TUI DO NOT TELL YOU, is the hotel DOES NOT TAKE CASH - CARD ONLY., even for drinks, which means your euros go down quicker. BE AWARE

The good points: the hotel is a one minute walk from a huge sandy beach which stretches all the way to Cambrils one way and Salou the other, it was very quiet in early-mid May and there was a decent enough cafe for drinks and lunch actually on the beach with an excellently maintained public toilet which meant you could easily spend all day on the beach if you could stand the heat (there’s no shade). The hotel staff are, in the main, very friendly and very knowledgeable, and the pool is large and spotlessly clean with a lot of sunbeds (though not enough to cope if the hotel was full). Breakfast, if you like pastries and fresh fruit, was decent enough, there was a variety of sausages and eggs and the nearest the Spanish get to bacon. The bathroom was excellent with a really good walk-in shower. It’s also only a 20 minute, €40 taxi from Reus airport. The bad points: Biggest disappointment was that the beds we had were old and rickety and not very comfortable. The room itself didn’t have a kettle or tea and coffee making facilities, and for dinner the food was much the same for most days, meat being cooked off the grill was of poor quality and genuine Spanish food was few and far between. For example, there was never a paella and they didn’t have a tapas night but most nights there was pizza, chips and roast chicken. Additionally the fact that it was a buffet meant that regularly the food wasn’t piping hot, you also had the problem of queues as everything was so close together. Desserts were mainly cakes or mousses which were nice enough but we were fed up with the hotel food by the end of the week. We didn’t bother with the evening entertainment but there was something on every night. All in all, the hotel is a bit out in the middle of nowhere and, although there are a really good bus services from immediately outside (buy the Spanish equivalent of an oyster card from the shop next to the bus stop and you’ll save a fortune) but if we went to the area again, we’d probably choose a different hotel.

Nice hotel Pleasant staff , nice beer , nice clean room, nice food , fridge in room that actually worked well . plenty of sun beds , no dash for sunbeds in the morning. Great location for catching the bus to Salou or Cambrils , buy a ticket in the excursion shop outside the back gate. 10 journeys for €11 i think it was.it is a little isolated only 2 mini markets outside & 1 restaurant so if your after an afternoon snack get your walking shoes on towards cambrills or mile down the road towards Salou by the best cambrills hotel as there's a lot more choice outside the door there . Nice sea front. Nothing to do with the hotel. This is just my observation. I wish the menus wasn't so high-end in the barch bars on the sea front . When you're half board, you're not interested in octopus & lobster for €35 each for lunch. You just want a snack to tie you over, but that option isn't available in the beach restaurants in the area . There is a snack bar at the hotel, but that wasn't open when we were there . Missing a trick there as people were all going missing round the pool for a few hours, obviously out to find lunch, so they are not buying beer in the hotel bar . Good prices in the bar, by the way 👌. Evening entertainment was usual hotel entertainment. Nothing apart from kids stuff till 9.30 then an artist on for an hour. Saw a great violinist one night she was brilliant 👏. Would stay again in a heartbeat as we had a really nice week . Top tip . Before you go, sign up for H10 membership.
