Hotel Sofia

We stayed 3 nights in this "Hotel" which is not a Hotel. It's a "kind" of B&B. In fact, in what they call the "Hall" which is actually a corridor with armchairs, there isn't even an external bathroom, in fact upon arrival, while I was waiting for my room to be cleaned, I had to go down to the bar below to be able to pee. Room 208 that was assigned to us was a real nightmare: the smell of mold and stagnant water coming from the windowless bathroom is nauseating, so strong as a smell that it invades the entire room. Inside the bathroom there are no plastic or paper cups to place toothbrushes. Like shampoo and shower gel, plastic sachets are usually used as free samples of the products. The room was very dusty, the duvet on the bed (which luckily we didn't use) was embarrassing. The TV is small and placed so far from the bed that to watch it you need the supplied binoculars. The wardrobe was swinging and we were afraid to put our clothes in it for fear of it falling on us, in fact we left them in the suitcase. In short, the Overlook in the film The Shining is Disneyland in comparison.

The only positive thing is the strategic location for visiting Catania Center. No parking, forced to use uncomfortable and expensive blue lines....... positioned in the middle of the restricted traffic zone without even being able to unload your luggage. Large but poorly maintained rooms with windows overlooking dirty courtyards etc.

I am not discussing the cleanliness and quality of the rooms, the problem here lies in the care of customers' luggage when they travel at different times. We sent boxes from Palermo to pack our bicycles with backpacks inside. We pedaled and the intent was to then pack it up to send back to the continent at the end of the tour. The courier delivered the package in the courtyard and no one from the Sofia hotel bothered to take care of it, to put a note with the owner's name. Moral on the morning of our. arrival the separate waste collection has recycled the cartons with our. backpacks. We spent almost 100 euros to buy new packaging, without Mr. Uccari, indicated to us as the owner, deigned to intervene or call us for a gesture of courtesy such as keeping the bikes for us for free instead of charging us 60 euros for the deposit while waiting for the courier to collect the vehicles the day after our delivery. departure.

PULIZIA e cordialità nel centro città massima centralità....a un buon prezzo nella zona pedonale e dei negozi. Reception aperta fino alle 20,00 Camere ampie e luminose. Servizio Idraulico migliorabile. Parcheggio convenzionato a 400 metri (20 € a notte). Mercato nei pressi hotel (250 mt).
