We lived in this area for 30 years, and after 15 years away, came back for a visit. In my search for a hotel, I found the Best Western was the most affordable. I was very familiar with the location, but had never stayed there. I was pleasantly surprised! The gal at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. She put us in a room which was on an upper floor, towards the back but away from the pool and highway traffic noise. The room & bed were very comfortable and had a great A/C system with a continuous fan, which was appreciated!!. The grounds and hallways were kept very clean. The breakfast was good with lots of choices and great coffee!! Only complaints, the bathroom area needs a hook or towel bar by the sink to hang towels on and the bathtub should have a bath mat. I had to put down a hand towel on the floor of the tub to keep from slipping. Otherwise - a great stay in the old home town!
HR Training Needed The hotel is aesthetically pleasing, clean and has a great location (close enough to attractions, but far enough for some serenity). Common spaces and room are tasteful. Price point is agreeable. The check in staff was kind, helpful and accommodated our early check in as well offered local suggestions. I travel often on business and pleasure and have always enjoyed my stay at Sheratons around the world. We've had family banquets and have come to appreciate a high level of service at a Sheraton property. The Scotts Valley location fell far short because of one unprofessional, dismissive and rude staff member. All was well until it came to how the night staff handled noisy neighbors. It was 11pm on a Sat night. I heard a lot of chatter and boisterous laughs. It got LOUDER and woke up my kids. I called the front desk thinking it might be upstairs or next door. 10 min later a loud speaker comes on and the music is clearly audible and the bass vibates our shared wall. I hear several groups passing our 2 rooms in the hall and knocking on the door which opens and slams shut several times with ”Where's the party?” Lots of noise, yelling and expletives. Again I call and this time I say it's next door. Hotel staff warns them they are being too loud. At 11:40 the party gets LOUDER still. I decide to go downstairs myself to voice my concern and discuss any resolutions. The man on duty says you just called and I just talked to them 2 min ago. It was well longer than that. He was very curt and dismissive. When I expressed myself, he asked tersely and under his breath,” Do you want me to call them again? You know I can't make them do anything.” I asked for a transfer and asked who I may contact to address the current issue and compensation. He shrugs, ”We're booked.” I said ”Don't' you have an occupancy limit and do you enforce quiet hours?” He looked very bothered and irritable. He gave me his general manager's card and said he would be available Monday. He hardly let me get any words out. He exasperatedly said ” We're not getting anywhere going back and forth. You just want someone to yell at so I'm gonna get em for you.” He walks off towards the stairs. I feel afraid knowing there are a lot of people in the room next to mine and my children, likely intoxicated. I called the police department. By this time it was midnight. When he realized what I was doing he started jeering at me and interjecting. Calling me ridiculous. Saying how would I feel if he called my boss. I represent my place of work well as a professional and would have no issue with them seeing this review- so I said go ahead and he rolled his eyes. Then he yelled ”So you're going to call them for me doing my job? Oh, and YOU'RE GONNA GET THE BOOT!” Wow. I never raised my voice and he was being not only unhelpful but disrespectful to me. While I was waiting for the police, he came down the stairs and nastily and tauntingly said the party's broken up now you can get

This resort/conference grounds is in a great location, and has extensive walking paths through the woods (make sure you know what poison oak looks like!). My husband and I like our longs walks so that part was nice, although the trails are not well marked. However, the room was very small---no place to sit except the bed--and smelled like very old funky carpet. For the price we were very disappointed in the room. Mini fridge was provided, but no microwave--very inconvenient not to be able to even heat up a cup of coffee. They offered to rent me a microwave for $15/day!! Seems very unreasonable, especially because the restaurant on-site was only open for dinner. Luckily town was only a 10 minute drive away. We also had a terrible experience in their supposedly ”nice” restaurant. Terrible service, food was bland, and when they brought our bill she handed us TWO tickets--she had rung up someone else's dinners on my credit card in addition to ours! Wouldn't you notice when you handed someone two credit card bills at one table? The staff did not seem very concerned about this at all (maybe they make mistakes like that frequently??). Very shabby treatment. I lived in Santa Cruz for 10 years some time ago, and I know the property has been there a very long time---they think the have a reputation as 'top-shelf' resort in the area, but I would definitely disagree.
I booked this Hilton hotel for 2days, 1night trip to visit Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the Mysterious Spot. The hotel was located within an accessible travel distance to the two attractions. I booked a room with two double beds. The room was clean, and newly renovated. Parking fee was USD10. There was an extra fee for in-room WiFi. The heated outdoor swimming pool was a bit small and crowded in the afternoon. The pool water was not clean, with leaves, bugs and human hairs. If I visit Santa Cruz again, I will try other hotels in the area.
There have been some improvements since last year. This time our room had a screen on the sliding glass door, thus preventing insects from entering. Also, this time it seems the Covid restrictions have been relaxed because there was breakfast (cereal, fruit, yogurt, waffles, toast, no eggs or other protein). There was instant oatmeal but only the sugary flavors were on offer. The bathtub has some sort of no slip treatment. Again, the room was clean and comfortable, the service was good. We plan to return.

My family was doing vacation on a limited budget and the Hitching Post fit the bill. Sheri, the owner, was an excellent hostess. The room was one of the cleanest hotel rooms ever. My son struggles with contamination OCD and nothing freaked him out about this room. Yes, it is an older hotel but it is well maintained. Drawbacks for some travelers would be breakfast is not included and there are limited restaurant options. However, our double full-size room had a microwave and fridge. We always bring food with us so this was not a problem. It located about to miles from the turnoff for the north rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Since one has to drive a good distance between the north and south rims, this was an ideal place to spend one night.

GGuest UserWaiting in line for coffee was an annoyance but still didn’t diminish the luxury feel of my stay. The largest inconvenience was the gates after 10. My first time someone was waiting there right away, but the second time I had to exit my vehicle and call from the buzzer to no answer. I only got voicemail. Eventually got in, but I was very uncomfortable in that dark area by myself, and it took long enough for someone else to pull in behind me. I appreciated the super convenient filtered water and laundry amenities that I wish were standard everywhere. I asked for a printed receipt, but their printer was down and they assured me I’d get an email, which I haven’t. Trip.com does not seem to have registered that I completed my stay, so there is something iffy among their booking and trip.com’s ledger.
GGallegosCheck in was easy and they had everything ready once we arrived around 5pm. The hotel general areas and room were very clean. There is a free breakfast but we decided to go to McDonalds and Ferrell's Donuts, which are both just a minute walk away. Parking was $10/day. The parking garage is under the hotel but not secured with a gate in case that's a concern for you.
GGuest UserOverall the stay is great. Location is good near beach, near restaurants and supermarket. It was advertised as it is.
My kids are impressed with the room - clean and spacious
Breakfast provided - the spread is not bad
Service - the staff are helpful and warm especially Jane and Christine
For Christine, she helped us to get a cab upon the day of check out. Uber cancelled on us few times which we are going to SAn Francisco International Airport. Or else we will miss the flight.
Surrounding environment around hotel - safe ,less homeless
I was very impressed as I read up many reviews before my booking with Hampton Inn West Santa Cruz
Worth the stay and money
GGnochebuenaNever had to write this bad of a review. Terrible experience for the what I spent on. First front reception impression was bad. 2 receptionists, one on the phone helping a lady with an issue. She seemed very stressed. The gentleman helping the rest of us making a line. When it was my turn, my card wouldnt go through. When the lady receptionist was done with the call she seemed like she was about to get a mental breakdown. He then decided to try my card on her side and was successfully processed. He didn’t explain or gave me any instructions about the key. Key needed to work the elevators and power in the rooms I had to figure it out on my own. He Didn’t offer or explained parking, I went back after we unloaded our stuff drove around and found out there was no place to park. The receptionist pretty much just processed my card. I stayed 3 nights and no one went into my room to take trash or pick up the dirty towels. Only thing they did was put a set of clean towels the night before my check out day and that’s about it. I was given an accessible room. I did not ask for one. A light on a night stand were unplugged. Found multiple lotto tickets inside the pull out bed. Toilet paper handle was broken. By the way…..what kind of bar closes at 8? The bartender didn’t seem professional or welcoming. When checking out I was asked how I wanted my receipt. On paper or email. I told her I rather get an email. I checked out around 8am and it’s 435pm and I haven’t received my email. The only people I will say were amazing at their job were the valet guys. They were friendly, helpful and did their job.
Excellent stay and exactly what I expected from a Tapestry. The renovation of this property is well done and the rooms and beds are very comfortable. I had a great time at the restaurant, especially for breakfast. Room service? Wonderful. And yes - they do have silverware. Some people are expecting a Waldorf Astoria. I just expected a good, clean, comfortable stay. I got more than what I was expecting.
LLIHONGDue to the temporary change of travel needs to stay, find a few places are full of room, the sky is already black, just grab one, just have a place to sleep, compared to the previous accommodation, this is expensive and poor cost-effective. The only thing that left a good impression was that the small restaurant next to it was good and the dishes tasted good.

GGuest UserWe had our wedding hotel room block at Hotel Paradox and had such a great experience! We looked at so many hotels in the area before deciding to move forward with Hotel Paradox and we now have no doubt that we made the right decision. The hotel set up was perfect for our event weekend. Guests were able to gather around the pool during the day and hang at the bar in the evenings. Many of our guests were raving about their experience at Hotel Paradox all weekend long. The hotel staff went above and beyond to make sure our guests felt welcome all weekend and were extremely accommodating and the food was great too. Having our room block there really added to our weekend and enhanced our whole experience. A big thank you to everyone at Hotel Paradox for making our wedding weekend one to remember!

I booked a series of rooms for my family. Though we got some rooms a little before normal check in because we had an event to go to we had to wait for the others after. The people Working there seemed to only tolerate the guests and did not seem to communicate well with us or their own staff. The parking is horrendous! Getting in and out is tight and they kept telling different guests different things. They have “double parking” spaces but double booked cars in them. This caused much confusion and chaos. The rooms are fine, some updates, particularly in the bathroom. The beds were good and they have full cable. It is not a quiet place but with proximity to Boardwalk is what many probably find appealing. We had just checked out of one of the rooms and forgot the food in the fridge. When we went back in they had already thrown it away. The staff were extremely rude and the price for the hotel was way way too much. Not worth what was being offered. The breakfast ran out of items quickly and staff did not seem to care about replenishing. Would not recommend this hotel, especially when there are so many others to choose from.
