Went with friends to the Jacobean to take advantage of their lunchtime offer. We were delighted with the quality of the food ordered from a small but varied menu and potion size was impressive. Everyone enjoyed the experience and we will certainly be going back for more.

We booked for Christmas Day lunch. The menu was odd without a turkey option. That said we decided to give the alternative menu a try. The service was poor. Not the fault of the waiting staff. It was clearly an issue in the kitchen. We arrived at 12.15. Starters came out after an hour. Main course came out at 14.10 and some of the dishes were cold. Veg options were awful. We advised that we had a taxi arriving at 2.30 for an elderly relative so was not able to stay for dessert and coffee. I will never be returning. A very disappointing experience for Christmas Day. Definitely not worth the ££.

Absolutely wonderful stay. We had a lovely room, clean and spacious with a nice comfortable bed. The food was excellent, we have eaten here a few times now and can't find fault. Breakfast is substantial and looks as good as it tastes. Staff are helpful and polite, great atmosphere in the bar area. The new management have certainly got it right!!

A definite improvement since the last time I stayed here. Clean room, nice, fresh white towels, and good value for weekday, business stop-overs. My only constructive criticism would be to suggest they cook the breakfasts individually, (as under the 'old' regime). The bacon is obviously cooked en masse, and cremated. The fried bread was just the same. Easy fix, if the management wanted to change this.

I imagine this place resembles a third world prison. The place reeked of desperation, damp and drains. Threadbare carpets, peeling wallpaper, cracked tiles in bathroom, salt / damp on walls, yellow skirting boards, yellowing bath tub, rust coloured water, filthy bedroom carpet, suspect stains on bedroom chair (seen better in an old people’s home), very old and tired furniture. Everything on breakfast was cremated except for the flies at the bottom of the juice jug. I made a complaint to the receptionist and asked to move rooms to be told that they’re all like that. Shocking. On the plus side, I didn’t contract Cholera. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

So disappointed, we were in room 17, which is not refurbished, so doesn’t look like the website images at all. We paid £200 for 2 nights b&m so not so cheap. The room was clean, the double bed had a timber bed frame above the mattress at the foot end so was really uncomfortable and the mattress old with little support. We will not return. As won’t risk getting a room like this again.

I stayed for one night due to an early flight at Birmingham Airport. On arrival I was given a my room with limited information ( in fact non) on wifi, restaurant times etc but I thought there maybe info in the room. No just a menu, I was very disappointed when getting to my room that it didn’t look like the pictures advertised. It was freezing cold and the smell when entering the bathroom was awful. The room was clean so I thought I would make a coffee to warm me up but it looked like something was frowning in the bottom of the kettle so didn’t risk it. I don’t like putting negative reviews but from the smell of paint in reception I can only pressure they are refurbishing parts of it. I didn’t feel like the woman on reception was warm friendly or approachable and didn’t look interested or professional, I also asked if I could have a wake up call but she said she would write note for the person who stays in the building overnight. They could not have called me as there wasn’t a phone in the room and he didn’t knock the door, he was cleaning the bar when I left at 3.30am.

Family meal in the restaurant. Bar was very loud and spoilt the atmosphere of the lovely restaurant. Service was great. Food when it arrived was very tasty however it seemed a long wait. Curry needs more chicken but very flavoursome. Puddings were lovely but not as described on the menu! Changed £4 for 3 tiny pieces of flatbread which seemed excessive.
