Elegant Pavilion room are just behind the reception. one of the cupboard are occupied with staff belongings and staff washing item are placed under the sink in toilet.
This is like a homestay where the staff share the room with her belongings. No changing of bedsheet and towels for 3 nights stay (staff just fold back used towels and dress the bed)
Laundry are free but using hotel's large washing machine for washing linen/towel and there are no dryer + nowhere to hang clothes.
1 minute walk to the South wall but unfortunately the entrance are closed for renovations. The whole of Datong are under constructions and renovation during off peak season
best go Datong city only during holidays period to have better experience.

Location wise, it is not too bad, it is at the quieter part of the ancient city, just 3 minutes walk to one of the entrance of the city wall and just 5 minutes walk to Huayansi. It about 10 minutes walk to the lively area where majority of the good restaurants are located (near drum tower). I was given a room upgrade, on the ground floor, which is good for me as i don't have to drag my luggage.up the stairs had i been given the originally booked room. The upgraded room is so huge, it is mean for 3 pax. It takes quite some time for the air conditioning to cool the room. Even though it is early March, end winter going into early spring, the room is still stuffy and i needed the air con. There are windows that can be opened, but due to the room location on ground floor, i kept the curtain closed for privacy hence not much fresh air can enter the room. The proprieter was very kind to let me use the washing machine and waited till my laundry is done before going to bed. It would be better if there was a floor mat provided for the bathroom.

I stayed in this hotel on this trip. It is very close to Yongtai Gate and the experience was great! The person in charge of the hotel was very enthusiastic and recommended interesting places around. The room was spotlessly clean, the bedding was comfortable and I had a good sleep. The room facilities are high-end and intelligent, and the curtains and lights can be controlled with one button.
