"The staff were so so friendly and super nice!!! Told them it was our honeymoon and there was a handwritten note with fruits and snacks waiting for us on the table. They didn't have to, but they did ☺️ when we left, we were rushing for the train and didn't have time to eat breakfast. The staff were so concerned we were skipping breakfast she quickly packed some food for us to go and even ran after us to pass us cutlery because she forgot to pack some.
Would recommend staying here 10/10!"

The room rates during non-holiday periods are incredibly affordable, offering fantastic value for money. If you're driving, there's absolutely no need to worry – parking is super convenient. The hotel has a spacious, free parking lot with plenty of spaces both above ground and underground. The security guards are very responsible, helping with luggage and guiding cars in and out. Parking is totally stress-free and secure.
The breakfast buffet is outstanding! The variety is so rich it's hard to choose, and it's all local specialties. The lamb offal soup, sliced noodles, and fried pancakes are all delicious. Every morning is a satisfying feast. The aunties at the buffet restaurant provide such attentive service – they're warm, meticulous, clear plates, and replenish food promptly. They are always ready to help, making you feel incredibly welcome.
Although the hotel facilities show their age and aren't brand new, they are exceptionally well-maintained, clean, and tidy. There's a chic, retro, and sophisticated old-luxury feel that gives the place a unique charm. They even thoughtfully provide complimentary bath tickets upon check-in, which are incredibly relaxing and wash away the day's fatigue.
With a great location, easy parking, warm service, comfortable stays, delicious food, and reasonable prices, this is my top choice whether I'm on a business trip or vacation. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Datong!"

"The environment and design of Wantoo B&B are warm and comfortable, and the coffee shop in the courtyard has a very romantic ambiance. The rooms are clean and cozy, and the breakfast is well-balanced. The owner, who prepares breakfast, mentioned that the breakfast menu changes daily, but unfortunately, we only stayed for two days, and indeed, the breakfasts were different on both days. The front desk lady had an excellent service attitude. Since there aren't many supermarkets in the old town, it's hard to find fruit, but she kindly gave us apples and pears. The B&B offers free bicycles and tricycles, and spending a day cycling freely around the old town was truly delightful. It was a genuinely great experience."

No. 3 of Premium Hotels in Datong"Overall, it was very good, as expected. I feel it's necessary to write a positive review to encourage the hotel to maintain its current service standards! This trip was specifically planned during the off-season for my elders to relax and for my own personal rest. On the first night, we found the room too stuffy. After reporting it, they immediately upgraded and changed our room (a big thank you to the lovely lady at the front desk; later, on the third day, she also explained the three ways to close a window we had an issue with. I don't know her name, but I was very satisfied with her service these past few days 👍🏻). She was a woman with her hair up, wearing a dark blue suit.
Facilities: The washbasins and toilets are Duravit, and having two washbasins is a big plus! The room has a sofa, a walk-in closet, and a matching table and chairs. A suggestion: the lighting color in the walk-in closet isn't very good, it's too yellow.
Cleanliness: I specifically checked some areas, and there was no dust. It was clean and tidy.
Environment: Superb, exactly as seen in previous reviews. A well-deserved luxury hotel.
Service: (Only for off-peak experience) From the front desk to the staff at the buffet breakfast, everyone I interacted with was excellent. The breakfast selection was also quite rich.
If you're visiting during the off-peak season, I would recommend this hotel.
Finally, this hotel didn't harass me for a positive review. I just remembered that the Huazhu Hotel incident happened right behind this one, so I decided to write this."

"Located inside the Datong old city, the inn itself is a historic building and has a history of its own. There are many interesting decors to look at in the property. The location is excellent and nearby some very good restaurants. It has a laundry room with 2 washers and 1 dryer which are very important in my opinion.The room was very nice, the cleanliness was very good and kept in very good condition. Although there was no rotating menu for the buffet breakfast each morning, the food is good and there's also beef/lamb offal rice noodles on request.
The best parts about the hotel are the staff and service. They were extremely welcoming and friendly. I usually get disappointed by restaurant recommendations by hotel staff but all the restaurants recommended were excellent and not overly expensive. They could help you make a reservation (those restaurants get super busy on weekends and holidays) as well if you don't speak Chinese. We had to check out really early on the last day and the staff promptly packed us some eggs and bread for breakfast even though we didn't request it the night prior. I'm sure if you request it the day/night before, they'll be able to pack you something more substantial.
I don't normally leave reviews but this property was worth my time."

"Traveling to Datong, I browsed many guesthouses and hotels online, and read numerous reviews. I'm so glad I chose Boyun Xiaozhu. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was comfortable, and the bathroom facilities were great. They even provided disposable bath towels and hand towels. The location was also very convenient. For breakfast, the auntie cooked fresh noodles, and the side dishes were refreshing and delicious. The owner's service was warm and attentive, providing thoughtful travel advice and directions. This was an excellent experience; it felt like a breath of fresh air and truly like being at home on a cold winter night in Datong. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit."

When I turned on the faucet after checking in that night, the water was yellow and cloudy the entire time. I followed the front desk's advice to let the water run for nearly an hour, but there was no improvement. After contacting them again, housekeeping came to check and suggested a room change. I asked to see the water quality in another room first, and was told it was 'a bit better'. It was already 11 PM and I didn't want the hassle, so I agreed to deal with it the next day. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of follow-up from the hotel, no apology, and no compensation or reassurance. They basically left the problem for the guest to just put up with. The next day, no one bothered to ask about it, as if nothing had happened. The service attitude was incredibly perfunctory and completely lacked any sense of customer service."

"I chose Nan She for both of my trips to Datong, spaced about twenty days apart. The first time was by chance, but the second was a deliberate choice, both reflecting my high appreciation for every aspect of Nan She. It's located right beneath the North City Wall of the ancient city, close to Daiwang Mansion and Kuixing Tower. Its proximity to the main road makes getting around very convenient. The entrance to the North City Wall is just a few minutes' walk away, offering a superb spot to watch the sunset over the ancient city. The breakfast at the guesthouse is absolutely delicious. The rooms are spotless, and the bedding is clean; every detail is perfectly executed. The overall service is beyond words – attentive, warm, and thoughtful. Choosing the right accommodation is a crucial part of enhancing the travel experience, and both of my stays here provided an excellent one. Datong is a city you'll want to revisit; the more you get to know it, the more you'll love it. The blend of history and modernity, delicious food, and beautiful scenery offers endless appeal. "This time I intentionally chose a guesthouse within the ancient city of Datong, and it turned out to be the biggest surprise for my child! As soon as we entered, my child was captivated by the peacocks, parrots, squirrels, and koi... it was like a small zoo. Every morning, my child would wake up and run to the courtyard to watch the peacocks display their feathers, chat with the parrots, and observe the little squirrel running in its wheel for ages. They also fed the koi in the pond multiple times. My child had an absolute blast.
The room was clean, with an antique charm, and the owner was very welcoming, even helping us plan our itinerary. The location is excellent, right outside Huayan Temple. If you're visiting Datong with kids, this place offers an unparalleled experience. Highly recommended!"

"A very good home stay/hotel that I highly recommend for anyone who travel to Datong. It’s at the entrance of the Datong Ancient City, very convenient to walk around for shops and restaurants. The hotel staffs and owner are very friendly to accommodate our needs. Lift is available and good for family with elderly. The pick up and drop off service to stations are the best!
There are some problems on the bed sizes when we checked in but the owner resolve in a friendly way. Highly recommended for a special stay!"
