First time traveller to the IoM. Needed a mid-priced B&B with a central location on the bus route from Ronaldsway airport. Cubbon House (CH) seemed to fit the bill and have exemplary reviews. I wasn't disappointed. CH is found a quarter of the way down the Esplanade from ferry terminal. About 10-12 mins walk from the train station if you're taking the steam train down to Port Erin, and 20mins walk from the the Derby Castle terminus if you're taking the electric tram servive to Ramsey. Turn right out the door then right again and your ten seconds from the main shopping thoroughfare. In other words CH is ideally placed for those with no transport wanting to do the basic tourist stuff on a first time visit. I stayed in a single room on the second floor. The room was compact but had everything you wanted. Mattress comfortable, pillows a bit thin, but you get two so they double up to a nice height. The linen had a nice fresh smell. It might sound daft but the cord of the hairdryer was long enough to reach so you could actually dry your hair in front of a mirror. Some places don't think about the bascis actually fit together. Similarly it was a relief to finally stay in a place with normal coat-hangers and not those you have to hook in/out of a metal attachment. I arrived early April but the weather was gorgeous. The radiator had been left on so the room was very warm. Obviously you could switch it off, but have no doubt if you stay in the Autumn/Winter this room will be quite cosy. Shower was more than adequate. Met the basics of having a height adjustment for the nozzle and an attachment to hold your toiletries at chest height. Small fridge was also helpful. Iron and ironing board just outside the door on the landing. Lots of tourist information and pamphlets available in the room, and all up to date. Breakfast was basic and as advertised. You can have cereals, fruit and yoghurt and then a full English cooked breakfast made to order. The food was well prepared and more than adequate in amount. Throughout the stay Lisa and Paul the owners were attentive and friendly without being overbearing. For what I paid, the location, and the experience I had, I'd more than recommend CH and would return if/when I visit the IoM again.
