We arrived at 7 and it was just beautiful, stunning view and a large old fashioned cottage feel. We were shown to a sunny bright room with a stunning view of Loch Eck. Our starters took a while to come and were nice. We had 3 tempura chickens which were great. I had the Bon Bon’s which were delicious. Strangely we had full spring onions in the garnish, one not washed properly and had soil in it. The waitresses were really nice although were run off their feet; never got chance to ask how our meal was until they were taking plates away and our drinks ran dry. Our main courses were edible. Lasagne was ok, coconut chicken made with pre formed bits of frozen chicken and bit “tasteless”. Other curry was tasty but very little chicken. So at end of the meal no one has approached my friend yet about her booking for that night to discuss her wedding with the owner. My friend introduced herself and the owner said ok we can talk once it’s quieter, can you wait but didn’t confirm when and suggested we come back tomorrow morning at 10am! So all the way up from wales, pre booked, sitting for hours, getting late. We discussed it and felt very dejected ( not what you want for a wedding venue) so we decided to pay and leave. Owner saw us stand up and pay at bar and said nothing. My friend then asks to speak to owner and is bluntly told sorry she was really busy. She acknowledged my friend was “cross” and offered half heartedly “tell me what I can do to resolve this”. Nothing. Poor service.

Just back from a very enjoyable 4 night stay at the Whistlefield. Great credit must be made to all the staff who made us feel very welcome, were very hard-working and attentive and met the challenges of Covid admirably. Excellent teamwork was on view. Comfortable room, good variety on food menu with plentiful portions. Would highly recommend with the bonus of the wonderful views of Lock Eck from the restaurant.

Around 2 years ago I wrote a review of a meal for 2 we had stating the meals were a disaster. The owner was not at all pleased and said I was hiding behind the cloak of anonymity. I sent her an email with my name, address and phone number. I now have to report that I have had 2 meals recently in the restaurant, first with 2 friends and today with my wife. What a difference time and possibly experience has made. The food was beautifully cooked, and the 2 staff were superb. Congratulations to those responsible and we hope to continue to support a much-improved local hotel/restaurant. The location next to Loch Eck is superb and so handy for locals in Strachur to pop in on a regular basis.

Had not been for some time but promised my niece that we would take her there sometime and as it was close to her Birthday we decided to go on a trip to Loch Eck, The Benmore Gardens and the Whistlefield Inn for lunch. We saw that they had Hot Rock steaks on the menu, both sirloin and flat iron and they were just perfect, plates almost licked clean, the service was very good and the bat was well stocked as well . All in all a very good choice for an outing and we look forward to our next visit which will not be as long as our last outing to the Whistlefield

Fantastic friendly welcome at this family run historic Inn set in a stunning location with panoramic views. We didn't want to leave our cosy en-suite room with it's own entrance, garden bench + picture window overlooking the loch! Having the best ever full Scottish breakfast cooked to order every morning was an extra special treat before venturing out on wonderful woodland walks nearby in breathtaking scenery! The beautifully quaint and quirky lounge bar is so relaxing with interesting friendly regulars happy to chat... the whole experience makes for a perfect Highland holiday! Outlander fans will go crazy for this wee corner of Highland Heaven but Whistlefield Inn truly has something for everyone! I highly recommend and hope to return asap.

Allow overnight parking for motorhomes at a charge of £20 a head which is converted into a voucher for spending on a meal in the pub. Forced to do this due to MH visitors taking advantage of their hospitality and not visiting the pub. We've had a superb gourmet meal. Beouf bourginion and Lamb shank with fresh veg and mash absolutely delicious. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and desert too so spent more than our vouchers but too yummy to say no to. Warm welcome and delightful ambience as well as excellent service.

It's been a while since I visited The Whistlefield. Have always liked the place and decided to have lunch there with friends. The current owners have done a grand job in keeping a nice balance of a quality Inn, providing fantastic food at a reasonable price. This coupled with good service and in a magnificent setting, will ensure I will recommend to people and hopefully revisit before long myself. Sorry no food photos, I was enjoying it too much.

Had a delicious lunch of soup & toastie which was very reasonably priced. My husband had home made fish cakes, chips and salad which he said was the best he’d ever tasted. Compliments to the chef. Will definitely be back.
