New to safaris, we did a lot of research before settling on nThanmbo for our first experience. Simply put it was wonderful, the guides Ingrid and Julian put a great emphasis on safety, and were knowledgeable and knew where to find the big beasts. If the big beasts were shy then their knowledge of the birds, insects and flora meant every trip into the bush was educational and fun. Milana catered for our party (vegetarians and vegans) with amazing cuisine. The highlight of the trip was the nightly pool party when between 4-10 elephants would wander into the camp and drink the fresh water swimming pool. It’s something I’ll remember for the rest of my life. The fact the camp is unfenced means you can see all sorts from your hut on stilts (but remain safe) - jackals, hyenas, wildebeest and of course elephants (one lunchtime a herd of 60 ambled through the camp! ). Great place, thoroughly recommend.

Safari at nThambo was a once in a lifetime experience. The treehouse we stayed in was lovely and the experiences they crafted in the middle of the bush were unbelievable. Every meal was 10/10 and the sunset drinks every night during the game drives were so memorable. The experience of the guides, Ingrid and Julian, shined through their knowledge of the terrain and animals, and we were lucky enough to see everything we had hoped for and more. The effort they put into hosting you is above and beyond, and we would recommend nThambo to anyone looking to experience safari at its best.

My husband and I spent 4 nights here during a 14 night trip in the bush. The people who work here- the wonderful woman who checks you in, the incredible guide and his tracker, the people who cook your meals, are a true team and obviously love this place and love what they do. Lots of laughter from all of them! The game drives... absolutely incredible. We saw every animal you can imagine (including wild dogs) and our guide and tracker were always respectful of the animals and also very knowledgeable. . Perhaps the best part of this place is the tree houses. Looking out from your very comfortable home on stilts and seeing herds of Cape Buffalo, and Zebras, Wildebeasts, Elephants, Hyenas right below you, and hearing lions calling to each other is just otherworldly. We cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Highly recommend the nThambo Tree Camp. Starting with the friendly inviting staff, to the delicious food and comfortable and clean accommodation. The actual safaris were well planned and exciting. Lots of wow moments. A shout out to our guide Ingrid who was full of information about both the wildlife and plant life in the Kruger Park. And to Conrad with his eagle eyes spotting all those animals. From Pam, Robert & Lesley (NZ)

Exceptional service, with a smile all the time. Our Guide (Ingrid) and Tracker (Conrad) were very knowledgeable about the wildlife. They go out of there way to make your stay comfortable. Every morning they make you coffee in the bush, and in the evenings you get a sundowner in the bush during your game drive. A scrumptious breakfast is served after the game drive, and local inspired dinners after your game drive in the evenings. This has been the best holiday and experience I have ever had. The camp has no fences, and we could hear the hyenas just outside, bringing you so much closer to nature. It's a true wilderness experience, with attention to detail. During a hot day, the elephants would come visit us at the camp for a drink from the swimming pool.

I cannot recommend the nThambo Tree Camp enough. From the moment we arrived we were met by such friendly staff and made to feel really welcome. The lodge and our room were both beautiful and impeccably clean, the food was delicious and the choice of drinks in the all inclusive package great. The safari drives blew my mind, we managed to see all of the big 5 and lots of other animals too. Our guides and tracker were extremely knowledgeable and did their utmost to maximise each drive. A special shout out to Luson, Menina (apologies if I have spelt these names wrong), Conrad and Caitlin. They gave us an experience we will never forget. Here’s to our next visit x

Our time at the lodge was a blast. The property is calm and clean, the rooms are extremely clean, unique and well taken care of. It’s a small lodge with only five chalets, which makes it even more special. The staff is incredible (thanks to Melanie and her young British colleague for superb work!), the food and game drives are top notch. Game drives with the local tracker and ranger were of high quality and always well arranged, we couldn’t ask for more. The best part of this lodge is probably the great staff in place and the warm feeling that the experience gives you, it felt like a family trip! G&R

We just spent two unforgettable nights at nThambo Tree Camp, and it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The adventure begins the moment you enter the park gate—with a bit of luck, you might spot your first wildlife sightings on your way to the camp. Be sure to allow enough time to enjoy the journey. The camp itself is beautifully designed. Upon arrival, you are welcomed into an open communal area, which includes a lounge with a bar, a coffee station, a dining area, and a terrace with a pool. From here, you have a breathtaking view of the open landscape surrounding the camp. The bungalows are tastefully decorated and provide everything you need for a comfortable stay. Each of the five bungalows has a spacious private terrace with an incredible view over the vast landscape. I even set my alarm to watch the sunrise, and I was rewarded with a breathtaking soundscape and sightings of jackals, hyenas, wildebeest, and impalas grazing in the morning mist. With only five bungalows, the camp offers a very personal and intimate atmosphere, and the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. Included in the stay is a daily safari program, consisting of a morning game drive before breakfast and an afternoon drive extending into the evening hours. Our group was guided by Ingrid and Julien, who made the experience truly special. Ingrid knows the bush like the back of her hand—she was able to track animals just by reading their footprints in the sand, which was absolutely fascinating. Julien was the perfect complement, translating all information into German and French, ensuring that all four native languages of our group were covered. His extensive knowledge of plants and wildlife made the experience even more enriching. Since this is a private game reserve with limited access, the safaris are far more exclusive, and you rarely encounter other vehicles. We were incredibly lucky to spot the Big Five and many other unique animals. nThambo Tree Camp offers an authentic and exclusive safari experience in a breathtaking setting. If you’re looking for a truly unforgettable adventure, this is the place to be!
