NH Collection Porta Rossa

History and hospitality in the heart of Florence! Our stay at NH Collection Porta Rossa was absolutely wonderful. The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Florence — just steps away from major landmarks, shops, and restaurants. You can truly walk everywhere! The breakfast is excellent, with a wide variety of fresh, high-quality options. We also had dinner at the Porta Rossa Bistrot — a charming, intimate space with just a few tables, perfect for a romantic evening, a quiet family dinner, or a business meal in a refined setting. A special thank you to Francesca, who made our experience even more memorable. When choosing this hotel, keep in mind that the building is said to be the oldest hotel in Italy, dating back centuries. Still, the rooms are beautifully maintained and offer all the modern comforts you’d expect. If you’re arriving by car, be aware that Florence has strict traffic restrictions (ZTL), so it’s essential to plan ahead to avoid fines. The hotel was extremely helpful in guiding us through the process and securing a space at a nearby garage (just behind the building). Spots are limited, so I highly recommend booking in advance and relying on the hotel’s assistance with ZTL registration. In short, Porta Rossa is a gem — rich in history, exceptionally well-run, and ideally located. We would absolutely stay here again!

Wonderful time in Florence! Spent a wonderful week in Florence. We had a small glitch at the end of our stay, which was not any fault of the hotel. Due to Florence marathon on Sunday and the 24 rail strike, which started on Saturday night, we had to extend our stay. The staff did everything they could to help us with alternate travel plans.
