Really unpleasant experience. Food was really bad quality, got food poisoning on trip. facilities were unclean - our room wasn’t clean, pool wasn’t clean, kids den wasn’t clean. Really overpriced for our experience and wouldn’t visit again.

I booked a one night stay in half term with my husband and two boys, 9 & 11 years. We opted for B&B with dinner in the hotel. It is not cheap at nearly £400 per night. We were booked into a non-sea view family room, in the new build. Very nice room when the curtains were closed, spacious kids room, clean well appointed bathroom (no water pressure) and comfortable. Pool is small, only 1.1m deep so no good for the kids to jump in, but very nice for a quick swim. Some underwater lighting would have made it look more luxurious. Hot tub lovely and warm. We were booked in for dinner at 6pm. We were served food at just after 8pm! My husband and I sat on our own whilst the kids played chess - they were starving, missed the film at the cinema, spent no time with us and to be honest, were so past it by 8:20pm that they couldn't really eat. Hotel staff just kept saying 'we're busy!'. As a consequence, the evening was ruined. We had no chance to sit and have a drink in the lounge or to enjoy the evening at all. Turned out they were a chef down, but were not honest or up front. Dinner was reimbursed but this was not enough to make up for a totally ruined evening. Breakfast was a 40 minute wait for a poached egg..... need i say more. We were not the only family sitting with starving children waiting for food. It was a farce. Sadly, I will not be returning and will not be able to recommend this. Honesty goes along way, and the staff were not honest. They took our money and did not deliver luxury. I am disappointed, to say the least.

Booked the Lantic Bay Suite, fantastic view over the whole of Fowey and water / ocean. Staff were attentive and helpful and the breakfast was very good. The only concern we had was that there was some mould in the bathroom that needs to be cleaned, other than that the standard of the room cleaning was fair. It’s great location and we would stay again and recommend the property.

Having visited in previous years, the refurb is stunning and really makes this a standout place to stay when visiting Fowey. The attention to detail with the maintenance and cleanliness (having worked many years in hospitality myself) is above and beyond. I was really impressed by the high level of quality even in the most basic room. We stayed in the ‘cosy’ price range which is the starting price range. You wouldn’t think it! The room was absolutely stunning and felt well … cosy! My partner and I couldn’t believe the quality and style of the room and were amazed at the attention to detail with the bathroom. Everything felt and smelt brand new. The young man who showed us to the room and checked us in was a complete asset to the hotel and wish other hotels hired such enthusiastic and friendly people. He also checked us out and again was nothing short of exemplary in his professionalism and friendliness. Please recognise him for his outstanding service towards me and my partner during our short stay. The bar areas were sumptuous and refined, adding that touch of luxury. I don’t have children but liked the touch of the play area off the main corridor and the cookies placed out for them. Quite a few new parents were with us (some with dogs too) and I liked that the hotel catered to such families with ease. Overall this hotel will not disappoint and I would recommend as one of the top hotels to stay in Cornwall. We will be back. Thank you.

this hotel used to be a great local haunt for us , we stayed here frequently before and during our house renovation, it used to be such a cosy atmospheric space, especially on a winters day / evening, we would often pop in for a hot chocolate to warm up after a beach walk , yesterday afternoon after a local walk with friends and children, we popped in , it was pretty chilly by late afternoon, and we were really shocked that none of the three open fires were on ! there was definitely a chill in the air , we even had to keep our thick coats on too the place seemed stark , and very unwelcoming, who doesn’t love a roaring fire on a cold winters day , especially after a long walk , the big rooms were decidedly cold, the radiator was on very low , two of our kids have woken up with colds , and we are all in agreement that we will not be returning now for dinner or snacks until summer, i mean the fires were not even prepared incase of a really cold snap , or really elderly people who feel the cold more , this is meant to be a luxury hotel! do better , it’s a pretty expensive place too if i were actually paying to stay i wouldn’t be happy , and would insist that the fires were lit

Had a fantastic dinner in the most relaxing surroundings. The staff, Gia and Keira were very attentive and all the hotel staff were very friendly. The menu was well curated; not too big nor too small. I had fish pie which was as exceptional. The Fowey mussels were a generous starter and as fresh as can be. We will definitely go again soon.

We enjoyed a very pleasant 2 night at Fowey Hall recently with our two young children. The Hotel is clearly set up to cater for families and the model seems to work well. We did read some reviews from disgruntled couples before we went who felt there were too many children and dogs…..but the hotel goes to great lengths to make it clear that this is a family focused hotel! On balance, the staff is very engaging and friendly, although at times appears to be slightly overwhelmed. For example, at check in, we were told that we would be informed when our room was ready (check in is 1500). At 1520 I re-approached reception to remind them we were still waiting for our room. Additionally at peak breakfast time (0900), the place can seem slightly behind the curve, with uncleared tables and messy floors. Finally, the baby monitors are fantastic and a great idea, however, when our first one didn’t work there was no offer from reception to come to our room and replace it, instead we were told we would have to collect the replacement ourselves. None of these were big issues but are just symptoms of an enthusiastic Team which is either understaffed or lacks the experience to deliver a polished product. Whilst our accommodation was well appointed, various aspects were clearly tired. This included the bed (which effectively woke you up every time you moved due to a defective frame) and the carpet which was stained and also hadn’t been hoovered prior to our arrival. On the plus side (and there are many examples), we would certainly return to Fowey Hall. The Den for children is fantastic, as is story time at 1700 each day with milk and cookies - and toasted marshmallows at 1645 during the weekends. The quality of the food at breakfast was also fantastic. Thank you for a great stay!

This is our second time coming back to the hotel and it was even better this time around. The hotel is that perfect mix of elegant but comfortable, with a child friendly vibe without feeling like a child focused place. We have three little kids and they had a great time and loved the games rooms and the pool and even the playground upfront. The food has also gotten better since the last time we were there which was great because it was part of our stay. That is very little I would change about the experience that it was a great three days away.
