The Hotel has great staff and fabulous location to the airport! The staff are without exception professional and friendly! Very impressed! The spa pool area with a bar and food service onsite is world class. In fact that facility is worth the visit and I certainly will be back! The restaurant also fabulous and a Michelins star restaurant is part of this great hotel! The one thing I do not understand, why not give one free bottle of water to the vary world traveller paying top dollars to stay. There is zero water unless you pay 6euro for a bottle! The hotel is well located. You get very quickly with train or bus to the airport. The rooms have come somewhat in the years, but clean. Breakfast is very good! There was a large selection of muslisorts as well as sauce, cheese, salmon and viwke small dips. Also the selection of tea was very large. Breakfast is definitely to highlight.

Authentic and rustic on the outside, my room had been refurbished with up to date bathroom fixtures and shower, flooring, paint and furniture. Able to sleep 2 adults, 1 teen and 2 small kids. The Gruner Hof is a short walk across the Isar to Freising's old town and monastery (must see). Lots of options for public transportation; bus, train, taxi. Quaintness factors: 2nd story rooms have the sloping roof and ceiling. I'm tall. Took me a week to stop bumping into it. Across the street is a church/school with a bell tower that chimes the time from 7am to 10pm; you'll always know the time but doesn't bother at night. Good sidewalks everywhere.
