Our stay at Suimeikan in Gero was nothing short of amazing. Despite the hotel's age, it has maintained its charm and offers a truly remarkable experience. The facilities were well-kept, and the traditional ambiance combined with modern conveniences made our visit both relaxing and comfortable. An old hotel that retains its grandness.. Although at check in, I was informed there's a charge only if I take the flowery yukata. There are free surprises in the Japanese room every day. Clean Japanese socks, towels in bags and a different Japanese sweet every day with Japanese tea My room faces the Hida River, it was beautiful looking out. It is very near the rail line, but it didn't disturb me. And I suppose all river facing hotels face the same light loving insects. But if you follow the instructions placed in the room, it is alright

Excellent! Very satisfied for this onsen hotel!! Definitely recommend this accommodation to friends and family. Everything is over expectation: services, facilities, room, public bath (onsen), food, and all. One drawback would be language barrier between some staff, but they really trying to communicate with us which is impressive. Also, there is a free shuttle bus service between train station and hotel during daytime, very convenient. Tips for me is to book this hotel on weekdays, it is half price cheaper than weekends or holidays.

**Hotel Review** Unfortunately, my experience at this hot spring hotel did not meet expectations. The dinner service was particularly lacking. The food had already been set up in the room before we arrived, and the waiter offered minimal assistance, only asking if we had lit the fire. There was no explanation of the dishes, nor was a menu provided. To make matters worse, the necessary cutlery for different courses was repeatedly overlooked, which detracted from the overall dining experience. The food itself was unremarkable and didn’t compare to what other hot spring hotels typically offer. The private onsen also posed a challenge. The water switch was broken, leaving no way to adjust the temperature or water flow, resulting in water that was uncomfortably hot throughout our stay. Breakfast the next morning was very basic and lacked the variety or creativity I’ve come to expect from similar establishments. Overall, the hotel did not live up to the standards I’ve experienced elsewhere and left much room for improvement.

The location is on the top of the mountain, which is more convenient for self-driving. The terrace room has a beautiful scenery, facing the river, and is cost-effective. The dinner is buffet style, with all you can drink, and ice cream is provided.

The exterior picture of the hotel is not consistent with the reality. There is no Japanese-style entrance location. If you need pick-up service, you may need to inform in advance. In addition, there is a private bath on the 2nd floor, and you must make an appointment in advance. All the waiters are very nice and they will rent yukata for free, which I am very satisfied with. Everything in the room was good, but the hotel facilities were a bit old, including the Wi-Fi connection which took a while and was not used effectively. In addition, the large public bath and open-air bath are also of an old-style design. There are no locked lockers. The lights are a bit pale at night and there are not many people. I hope the hotel can replace them with brighter lights. Meals will be served in the room, and the taste is not too special.

Staying in a room with an open-air hot tub is full of mosquitoes, like a bathtub on the terrace, which is twice as expensive as an ordinary room, not too expensive. Breakfast and dinner are buffets, the food is ok, this season is for beef and pork hot pot. There is free parking. There are free massage chairs in the lobby.

The service is very good, the room is a bit old, the breakfast is OK, the hot spring is particularly good, and it is one of the best hot spring waters I have experienced in this hot spring trip.
