Room- stayed for 8 nights. Early April 2025. Our room was a good size with a good sized modern balcony. The balcony was half enclosed with double glazing which is perfect for sitting out when it was chilly. Our bed was a king-size and was super comfy, our linen was beautiful and fresh and changed frequently. The weather was a bit chilly when we were there, however we had a heater and extra blankets. The rooms are super basic, and perfect for a short stay. Having a fridge in the room was perfect. The shower was very hot too. Amenities- within 6-7min walk you are on Golem HighStreet with 2 supermarkets and restaurants. Also a great bakery too. Haka guesthouse- We could not believe how spotlessly clean the whole property was!!! Location- this is what we loved the absolute most about Haka. The property is nestled in a residential area amongst the true Albanian life!!!❤️ The Neighbours who have chickens and Cockerels, 3 generations of family living together, kids playing ball out on the street all while being respectful of everyone!!! Rosh and his family run the guesthouse and they made us feel part of their family!! They took us on a drive, gave us their son's birthday cake and were such warm, caring and phenomenal hosts!!! The breakfast was wonderful too!!! As vegetarians we had, eggs, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, local bread, a crossiant, and the most BEAUTIFUL sweet and juicy orange from the family farm. The fresh food is pesticide free and you can really taste this. This beautiful family echoed every Albanian that we met. Kind, helpful, and polite. Please do not buy into the rubbish that you read or hear in the press. Beach-If you don't have a car, it's only a 15min walk from Haka to Golem beach. We were there for the first week of April. The season only gets started in May/June . Most of the beach restaurants and bars from Golem all the way to Durres are not open until May/June. Its a beautiful apx 2 mile walk along crystal clear waters. Heavenly!!! Durres is much bigger and busier than Golem as its a city. There is lots to see and explore. Driving in Albainia is a lot of fun dodging potholes on some of the freeways. As we live in the UK, the road rules are very strict, so when people don't abide by the rules people can get crazy. In Albania, everyone was just so polite and allowed everyone to do their thing. At times, it felt like we were dancing not driving!! I loved this but my partner didn't... As we're both vegetarians we had a great choice of food to eat when out and about. We both got hooked on Boreks, a wonderful savoury local pastry.... The only negative thing we experienced was that a bottle of sun cream cost us £25 euros.... yep, £25 euros. We suggest you take your own to keep the costs down. We absolutely fell in love with Albania.... It was wonderful to see a country that is really standing on its feet, post communism. It is very Mediterranean with its own culture still visible. It felt like Spain did in the 80's
