Eibsee Hotel

Magical European hotel that we can’t wait to return to. The spa was fantastic. Free use of kayaks etc. Food great. Felt a bit like luxury summer camp. These Americans were so impressed. We will be back. Our kids felt this was the highlight of 2 weeks traveling around France and Germany. Thank you so much Eibsee hotel.

Excellent service and cuisine the snow the mountains are magnificent. Hotel was as expected the staff nice helpful, bar at the best experience with the knowledge of the drinks required, But the best was the Taverna the restaurant for the experience

Most glorious location for a great hotel for couples and families. The lake is absolutely beautiful and photos do not do the Hotel justice. Wonderful sauna and indoor pool for those rainy days and a fabulous walk around the lake for spectacular scenery. Lots to see and do from the Hotel and book the 3/4 pension offer as the food is really great and plentiful. You will not be disappointed with the Hotel, the food, the staff and the views!

We had no idea what to expect when coming to this hotel. We are an American family and this is our first visit to Germany. We were very happy with our stay. We travel quite a bit and live just outside of NYC and we care very much about food. Much to my surprise, we learned on check in that our meals were included in whatever package I had booked. I didn't realize that, but man, I am so happy the food was included because it was GREAT. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. Great dinner options, and something that all of us could find to enjoy (I have 2 teen boys and one younger boy). We had multiple desserts every night because it was too hard to choose. Lunch is really more of a "snack," (salad, bread, soup, dessert), but plenty of food and we were never hungry. Roland (I think that is his name) seemed to act as the maitre'd of sorts, and he knew us by name and was very friendly. Prompt service. Great coffee. STUNNING SETTING with idyllic view of the lake and the Zugspitze. We had a large room with 2 separate sleeping dens -plenty of space for a family of 5. No air conditioning -which is typical of a European hotel - but the first night was pretty warm and we couldn't keep the windows open because no screens and bugs were coming in. It would be nice if they would put screens in the windows for that reason and/or offer some fans for warmer evenings. But, even with that experience, we loved our stay. The lake is gorgeous and lots to do for the kids. Mountain biking, hiking, SUP, swimming, canoeing, etc. Most of the staff speak English - which is good since we speak zero German. Very impressed with everyone, and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Thanks for having us!

Some of the more negative reviews here stemmed from 2020 and 2021, the Covid years. We came here in May 2022, after a renovation. The guestrooms are a bit on the average in terms of aesthetics but the communal spaces are lovely- I really loved the panoramic restaurant with its superb views of the lake and the small but good wellness facilities with wonderful seats for just staring at the lake. The sundeck and the beach were also beautifully maintained. We had three meals here and they were all good. The avocado tempura was a creative take and delicious. I liked it that they try to source things locally- I never knew I could eat salty mountain butter or honey by the spoonfuls! We did the 7 km lakeside walk- what a clean and well-kept track! Kudos to the family that owns the lake. You can go swimming, vertical paddling or boating on the lake, or take the cable car up the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest point. But we were more than happy to relax and do very little. The staff were also friendly and professional. They don’t overstep their boundaries but were confident and good humored, even when they don’t speak German, the local language. HR has certainly done a good job. We would love to come back in autumn when the trees must be turning to red. And oh, I must ask what their brand of shampoo is- such volume after a wash! If you factor in the meals and actually use all the spa facilities and the local transport Ticket with discounts, the deals are reasonable. Except we were happy enough to do nothing except walking. The Eibsee is a dream location in southern Germany.
