This palazzino is one of the very first private homes to be built in Valletta, with records dating as far back as 1606. These first edifices were located close to the city’s only natural spring and had to comply with architect Franceso Laparelli’s orders that these homes had to have water reserves directly connected to the spring. Since the 17th Century this building hadbelonged to the Le Brun family, handed down through the generations to such personages as Claude Le Brun Knight of St. John, and the brothers Giuseppe, and Giovanni Le Brun both of whom were Masters of the Mint in the 17th Century.
