Le Lodge des Îles d'Or

After calling the hotel, I reserved a room on the resort's internet site, payed and received a confirmation e-mail. An hour or so later, the concierge called me inform me that she had overbooked the hotel and had to cancel my booking. I suspect that between the time I booked and the time the concierge called, she received a better offer for a longer period and thus canceled my booking. Obviously, I will never book another room at this site nor will I recommend others do so.

My husband and I spent three nights at this Hotel. The Hotel itself is a lot smaller than we imagined and there is no view. All rooms face towards the centre of the hôtel and overlook the pool and restaurant which can be extremely noisy. You can see guests on their balconies and there is no privacy as the rooms and balconies are so close together. There are a lot of trees and therefore mosquitoes and the trees hang above the balconies making it very dark and you can not enjoy your balcony due to the mosquitoes. The main issues we had is the location of this Hotel. It is sandwiched between a Mobile Home campsite and a huge construction site of holiday apartments. The road to the beach from the Hotel is just beside the construction site and is very dirty. The beach itself was a huge disappointment. It looked very unclean and generally run down. The noise from the construction site is enormous and starts very early in the morning. We had to go out and spend the whole day out of the Hotel due to the noise. Another noise issue were the several young families who were there during our stay. This is not an ideal Hotel for children as it is so small and nothing for them to do. The rooms are small and not particularly clean and would really need a coat of paint. Breakfast was basic and the staff didn’t really care about the guests. It was a self service buffet and when we realized there was no water my husband asked for mineral water and they gave him tap water. You had to pay for water in a 4 Star Hotel! I have never seen this in a 4 Star Hotel before. We never had dinner here as we were so disappointed by the quality of food and choice at breakfast. The Staff in general looked very unhappy and there was a terrible atmosphere. This Hotel was a huge disappointment and we couldn’t wait to leave. It is far too expensive for what it is.

Very nice hotel, very well located (150m to the beach and close to Kitesurf place). Our room was perfect and you can also enjoy a peaceful pool. Reception desk and entrance are quite basic (they should replace the damaged flags at the entrance). This hotel is very close to a 4 stars hotel We will come back

We only stayed one night in the Lodge and wished we could have stayed longer. Cleverly and sensitively designed. Fabulous room which was on the ground floor and v quiet. Food was excellent too. Dinner was v creative and tasty with lots of local fish and vegetables. The staff and management were very pleasant and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble.
