I stayed in Albert's "Privat Rooms" in the main house next door at Bichlweg 9. I booked it through the Ischgl tourist office using their "non bonding enquiry" method. The Good Location - it really is great. Just a few minutes walk (even in boots) to the "Prenner Passage" with the escalators that bring you directly to the main gondola station. Breakfast - egg, rolls, jams, cold meat and cheese, muesli, yoghurt, long life juices and tea or coffee. On my first day I was asked if I wanted an egg - and it got delivered every day after that! On my first day I ate two of the three rolls - after than I was only given two rolls (which was fine). Albert constantly checks stock levels! Shower - good pressure and heat, and a reasonable sized cubicle. My shower unit was actually in my bedroom - so not suitable if you're sharing with a shy friend! Wifi - signal strength and speed were both good. The Moderate Heat - even after turning off the radiators, my bedroom was really hot the first night. I found that by opening the toilet window (and leaving the door open), I could get the temperature down enough to sleep. Boot Room - it's locked in the evening (no ski boots allowed in the town after 8pm), but sometimes locked early. Albert - he has good english, but is really not very friendly. The Bad Mattress - I know I prefer a firm bed, but this wasn't just soft, it was old, and sank in the middle. This was the worst aspect of the room, and made it difficult to sleep. Noise - the house is rather creaky, and if you have people above you walking around it can make sleeping difficult. Whilst the location is great for getting on the mountain quickly, the street is sometimes a bit noisy (I needed to keep window open to reduce heat). If they replaced their mattresses, and I managed to ensure a top floor bedroom, I would stay again - otherwise I would look elsewhere.
