We recently stayed at Kresten Palace for 10 nights with our family. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The positives: 1) The hotel is fabulous and the location is perfect. It's approx 10min from Rhodes Old Town via Taxi and 10/15min to Faliraki. There are some nearby restaurants in walking distance, a coffee stand down the road (Brew Box) and a supermarket. 2) Bus stop right outside the hotel and only costs 2.50 euro to get into Rhodes Old Town (takes approx 15min). Otherwise the reception staff will call you a taxi which costs about 15euro for 4 people to Old Town. We did find the taxi prices varied alot though. 3) The entertainment staff were amazing - Kiko, Julie, Daisy and team. There was plenty of activities going on throughout the day from yoga, aqua aerobics, mini golf, darts, bowls, mini disco, bingo...the list is endless. There was something for everyone. 4) Kids club was great - a lovely airy room with lots of toys and activities. Julie was fantastic with the kids. Mini disco every night at 8.30. 5) We had a family room with sea view and it was perfect. The room was spacious and the air con was wonderful. The power in the shower was great too. Mini fridge for storing drinks came in handy also. 6) Pool area was great - the pool area is big and plenty of beds if you are down on time. The kids pool was fantastic. 7) The onsite shop was brilliant - it literally had everything from pool toys, clothes, hats, alcohol, sweets and snacks. If there was anything you needed you would be sure to get it here and it was very reasonably priced. The negatives: 1) Breakfast was not great - I really felt the breakfast could have been a lot better. The only fresh fruit was slices of orange and grapefruit. Lots of tinned fruit which is not good. I would have liked to have seen some melon or pineapple or anything fresh. Eggs were cold a lot of mornings we attended. If you aren't down before 9.30 don't expect to get much as they start clearing away everything including the coffee. Cereals were also very poor and very little pastry options. The breakfast was the biggest downfall. 2) Not enough bar staff - on a number of nights we attended the sports bar and it was very busy with only one guy behind the bar making cocktails and 2/3 staff taking table orders. It was impossible to get a drink. More staff are needed as the hotel was busy. 3) They kept taking our towels from the room and not replacing them - however I did say it to reception and it was rectified. I would recommend that if you have any issues with your room to bring it to their attention and they will be sure to sort it. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here. Food was good at the pool bar and reasonable if you wanted some lunch during the day. Activities were really good and the entertainment team were brilliant. We didn't eat in the restaurant any night so I can't comment on that. A better breakfast selection and more bar staff would make a huge difference.
