Curry House

The beds were great. they had all the soap shampoo, conditioners and body lotion plenty of towels. It is a self service breakfast with Kereg coffee makers in the rooms along with dorm room refrigerators. The main lobby offered coffee,bottled water and granola bars and 100 calorie snacks in the kitchen area. It also has a bathroom with a shower on the main floor for guests at the house to use. The front door is equipped with a coded lock but it is heavy and you must pull it closed. All the rooms have coded locks with dead bolts. Loved seating out on the balcony and looking at the church on the corner. I loved that it was an older house with the old shiplap walls and moldings. Great locations for walking as the duval loop goes right down Flemming but we mostly walked everywhere. Would love to know what type of mattress's are on the bed in room 4

The Curry House is close to many attractions. Staying at the Curry House is like staying at your Grandmother's worn home in Key West. The furniture was old and there are some stains on the carpet in the communal spaces. We stayed 3 nights. Do not stay at the Curry House in rooms 7, 8, 9, if you cannot carry your suitcase and bags up 2 flights of carpeted stairs. It wasn't a problem for us, but could be for some people. The king size bed was very comfortable. The sheets and towels were good quality. We heard other guests open their room doors, but then it was quiet afterwards. In Room 8's bathroom, you will need to set your toileteries bag on the toilet set and then store them on the dresser in the bedroom. There are no staff on site at the Curry House. You will receive the front door code and room code via text. The staff sent great recommendations for restaurants, and things to do. You can fill water bottles up by the sink located next to the pool. There is no parking at Curry House. Almost all of the street parking is residential and you can be ticketed by the police. We parked in a parking lot which costs $40 for 24 hours or $20 per day or $20 per night. Curry House is so close to many attractions; we parked our car for 3 days and just walked everywhere Mallory Square, Hemingway's house, Truman's Little White House, etc.

House was not like advertised. The property was not very well maintained for being old. No central A/C, they used window units that ran 27/7 to keep the temp at 70 degrees. No A/C in the extremally small bathrooms. All the doors and window(many) leaked air, so more hot air coming in. I had to clean the pool area twice myself (leaves in the pool and lizard poop on the deck). Gutters were full, so when it rained the porch and grounds took a beating. It had a kitchen area, that was off limits for use, so there went the money we spent on eating!! There was a problem with noise, first with a dog(no pets allowed) and then some party people making noise till 3 am. The only bright spot is that the location was good!!!

The Curry House worked well for our Key West vacation, and was charming and a good value. It was just a 10 minute walk to museums, restaurants, and the water, and I liked that our street was quiet and not crazy night life. The room was very nice, altho not much on the breakfast. Coffee, and not even cream. No big deal, I just bought some half n half at the nearby grocery. We stayed in #1 and liked our balcony, which we shared with the next door couple. We left just as Hurricane Ian was coming towards the Keys. So grateful for our trip timing!.

This beautiful grand dame is no longer a bed and breakfast, unfortunately, and should be renamed as an Air BnB. In the friendly town of Key West, one would hope for a warm welcome by a real human especially for over $400 a night, but no - this was a human-free experience from start to finish. Disappointing. On the plus side, the location is steps away from busy Duval St and the harbor, so everything was easy to get to. The room was spacious and clean with 2 sinks, and the bed was comfortable. On the minus side, the house is next door to a late night party joint - at midnight the music ramped up and didn't stop till 4am. Even with earplugs and a pillow, the heavy bass was impossible to ignore. I heard the Curry House is under new management and I sincerely hope they make adjustments to personalize the experience for guests: add breakfast and happy hour, greet people upon arrival, make it a special getaway worthy of the price tag.
